Nicko's article on Santa Cruz

So one "last" bid, 15 millions. Don't know what to think about that one. Santa Cruz certainly shouldn't get as much as five of them, in my opinion maybe nothing. Clearing 10m on the sale isn't particularly good business to be honest, not at this point anyway. Give him the choice, we'll accept if we can have it all, do you still want to go?

Sturridge on loan seems like a reasonable compensation on top of that.

The Sun says Bunn to Forest, according to the BBC Gossip & Transfers. That's a bit unexpected.

I was surprised by that too, he's looked like one Ince signing likely to stay and be our 2nd choice goalkeeper. Then again, I thought that about Jason Brown at one point as well, and now Bunn has taken his place.

Nicko:

Have you heard anything about this guy?

Blackburn interested in silberbauer

It is in danish. Translated into english something like this:

Blackburn Interested in Silberbauer

"Since the switch to Dutch Utrecht Silberbauer has been in action in all 18 matches of the season, and has, according to Ekstra Bladet attracted interest from Blackburn.

- I can confirm that several English clubs follow Michael Silberbauer. It is a natural development, because he has delivered the goods so far in the season, says Silberbauers agent, Karsten Aabrink to Ekstra Bladet.

Silberbauer Utrecht has a contract until summer 2011."

27 yr old Rightwinger / CM. In his prime he has been selected to the Danish National Team.

From what I have read:

- Forest might bid for Bunn; that is a big difference from the lad actually leaving

- City might consider offering Sturridge on loan; they also thought they might sign Kaka

- £15m is LESS than the premium they are paying Hamburg fotr signing De Jong now as opposed to waiting to trigger his transfer clause in the summer.

Anything less than £30m for Santa Cruz now will be disappointing.

Hate to say it but all of the next few days are going to revovle around Man City.

Once the wounds are licked they still have deals to do for a target man striker [Roque], a midfield dynamo [De Jong], a centre half [anyone with a pulse] and maybe a goalie [buffon/Given]...and a world superstar.

I think the Rovers signings this month will depend on whether Roque goes - so that needs to be sorted out fast. Sounds like Sam has a Plan A with a lot of money and Plan B without.

So we could do with this being sorted...if there is anyone left at Man City to do the business.

I hear Robinho has a birthday party to go...and Brazilians are not very big on 'team bonding' weeks in Tenerife. Think that is why he walked out.

Talk about a clash of cultures.

On Zoro...he went home yesterday...Calve is still here...and I till take it other right backs will be watched this weekend. Why rush into a freebie right back when you can buy a good one?

30 million wont happen but I think we should be aiming for 20 million straight into our coffers.

Why on earth not?

Hamburg turned a £2m release clause into an £18m bid and there were no competitors for DE Jong's signature.

I'd expect Rovers to turn £20m into £36m on the same basis.

Lets put it this way. I agree we should be aiming for higher and higher now. Roque is their first choice or at least Sparky's first choice and City are a wounded animal now, so if we stick to our guns we can get more and more out of them. Certainly more than 15 million no question about it.

I dont think its gonna get anywhere close to your figures though.

Indeed, Philip, as I said earlier, sam has set out his stall. It's going to be a biggie, I think.

Meanwhile in the real world Rovers will do very well to get £20m for Santa Cruz : forget Sam's bluster, we need the money and Hughes knows it.

So it's £10m for £15m player - make him stay!

On Kaka - Well Robiniho told him not to come.

On Bunn - Sam will clear the wage bill up and quite rightly. If they can't compete for a place they will go and be replaced with good loan signings or purchase. It's a wages problem at Rovers as the revenue barely keeps up with it. Now we have someone in charge expect it to be rectified quickly.

On City - Well they can't keep the Brazillians they have so why sign more! My son plays Monopoly better than Gary Cook runs a multinational! Long may he stay in charge. You couldn't invent it could you?

City will top out at £17m for RSC and I don't think he'll go. £30m - even a blind man's dog with a hearing aid could see he isn't worth that. City though....Mmm. Anyway he's down as our new right winger.

Yes but would you say Kaka is worth in excess of 100million? ....No footballer is worth 20 million never mind that! Citys bids are unrealistic & they want to look like bigtime charlies so I think we should help them build on that image by allowing them make a showpiece 25 million signing!

Rovers should hold out for something above £20 million.

City bid £6 million for Bellamy at the start of the window and ended up paying over £12 million.

They have are paying £14 million for De Jong when they could have him for £2 million in the summer.

They paid an absolute premium for Bridge £11 million, who whist a good left back is no way he is worth £10 million plus.

Roque was our top scorer last year, he is in his prime. He hasn't been as good this year but have to remember it has been very stop start for him thus far, I am confident that if he is fully fit and has a run of 10 games he will score goals. Hughes is also desperate to get him. Rovers are quite right to hold out for as much as they can get and considering the prices that City have paid for the likes of Bellamy Rovers are right to ask for substantially more that £15 million. I am also sure that Roque's people know that if City want to conclude this deal then they need to do it quickly as there is no way that Rovers would sell at the last minute and thus denying themselves the chance to get an adequate replacement.

Every point a very good one prof.

Here's a naughty thought. If Gillett/Hicks cannot persuade that vibrantly healthy bank, RBS, to roll their loans, I wonder if a call is going through to Abu Dhabi this morning. Or even from the Glazers who face their own little armaggedon in 2010.

The striking thing about City is just how little has been achieved in the first six months compared with the tornado that was Abramovich at Chelski. Sheikh Mansoor would have no problem parking City with one of the neighbours and now he has learny how not to do it, he might feel confident acquiring a real biggie.

From a Rovers point of view, notwithstanding the PI farce, City are showing the value of having a highly professional behind the scenes football set-up in place which City clearly do not have.

Further emphasising my point, what a deluded fool Cook is.

"We talked a lot about a humanitarian approach and also environmental issues and the statements his son would like to make around the world.

"Unfortunately when we talked to Milan yesterday those issues were taking a back seat and the financial demands were coming to the fore.

"It's a shame he won't be able to join us on our journey."

Seriously, that is what Cook is quoted on the BBC web site as having said.

£50m for Roque and we'll buy some Paraguayan rain forest?
