nicko Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Hope you enjoyed those two late goals nicko! ha ha Anyway any update tonight, about anything? Any new contact from City about Roque No, there's nowt.
Wolverine Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 HOW? how do you know? and does he regret leaving rovers or does he regret going to spurs? One of my closest work colleagues is friendly with the family. He lives near them over Rochdale way and while DB was with us, he spent some of his spare time at a cricket club my friend is part of. He told me Dave has regrets. If I am honest I didn't push him too much as I don't like taking advantage. I asked him if Dave was likely to return and all I got was raised eyebrows. I wouldn't read much into it - I am sure Nicko will confirm any possible deals are likely well out of our budget - but I honestly believe he would come back if the opportunity arose. The fact remains, his head is down at the moment, mainly because he is a square peg in a round hole, and hasn't been totally accepted by Spurs fans, despite a cracking goal against Arsenal, which normally guarantees legend status at WHL.
EwoodGlory Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Quote from Gary Cooke City retain an interest in Shay Given, despite three unsuccessful bids for the Newcastle United goalkeeper, and Roque Santa Cruz, the Blackburn Rovers forward, but the resistance met in both cases has led to frustration at the City of Manchester Stadium. Garry Cook, the City executive chairman, has confirmed that the bid to sign Santa Cruz remains on the table. “The last I heard was that Blackburn were looking to bring in another striker before they make a decision,” Cook said. “Sam Allardyce [the Blackburn manager] is working through his issues and I fully respect that. We have made it quite clear we would like to see Santa Cruz at this club and we will continue with those talks.”
Hughesy Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 I would be happy if bently returned Never going to happen!!
Hughesy Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 GUDJOHNSEN according to the Sun and the independent.
Hi Mack Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Never going to happen!! Bentley was awful tonight! What the hell has happened to him?he was awesome when he was here! But on one note Bentleys ego is too big for him to return to Ewood! is that a genuine quote from cook? I could see Bent/Janko/Sturridge coming in if RSC went! GUDJOHNSEN according to the Sun and the independent. YES PLEASE!! OH The Sun!!!!!!
Hughesy Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Its made it into 2 papers, no smoke without fire?? Nicko??
nicko Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Gudjohnsen likes the easy life in Barcelona and is on a fortune. I doubt that one. Frankly, I don't care right now.
jim mk2 Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Its made it into 2 papers, no smoke without fire?? Nicko?? Smoke and Mirrors hopefully. Gudjohnsen is 31 this year and past his best ; we don't need another ageing player.
Hughesy Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 £2m fee for the 31 year old apparently. He musnt play much anymore because you never hear of him in the Barca team.
nicko Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 Oh Nicko you Bitch! Anyway Nicko, can we keep this strictly Rovers related as it is Nickos thread! Gudjohnson would be exactly what we need! And to be honest might be an upgrade on RSC! Sorry, there is as much chance of that big-time Charlie looking down his nose long enough to join Rovers as there is of me accepting that travesty of an outcome tonight. He is a money-minded lasy big **** who won't be coming...so focus on targets you can land. As gutted as I have been since the Hun beat the Jags in the Scottish Cup semi of 1979. And that is saying something.
philipl Posted January 21, 2009 Posted January 21, 2009 But would Sam fancy playing Lazarus on Gudjonsson (the lazy Barca one that is)? My hunch is that the give away is in this Telegraph story. City are probably the source of this Gudjonsson nonsense as they are linking getting RSC to Sam getting his man. Obviously if we are looking at a £2m replacement, City's offer of £6m and a bag of crisps on the never never is surely going to convince the media that it is quite enough for the Rovers.
No Nay Never Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I think it's more of a certainty than a hope that your man coyley moves. I have a mate who work for BFC and from what I can gather all is not rosy financially at the club. The word is Kilby is ready to take what he can from the club and run.
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Nicko, any truth in us being linked to M'Bami? The midfielder at Marseille? I've read he has come out and said he wants to leave Marseille and that a few premier league clubs are interested.
Hughesy Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 RSC Next in @ City???? Nothing new in this nicko??
Fylde Coast Fan Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 The Sun claiming that City have given up on RSC and asked how much for Drogba, and that Villa asked about Sturridge and were told 5.5, so may wait until the summer. If Villa are in for the lad I don't think we have a chance, they've got a better league position and much deeper pockets.
philipl Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 City are reported to have offered £8m for Given (not said what it is made up of) and Newcastle have asked for £14m. Good on the Bar Codes! Meantime the Guardian has spilled the beans and revealed that City folk have been going all round Europe trying and failing to sign Galacticos. Are there any superstars left whom City have not already tried and failed for? Significantly in that list is Henry so the story that Henry might go to City in the summer as a scare tactic for Rovers loses a great deal of weight to say the least. The De Jong deal was 18m Euros for him now when they could have spend 2m Euros for him in the summer according to MEN by the way. So City have set the premium for bringing a player early at 16m Euros- that makes RSC £34.5m if they treat Rovers equitably with Hamburg. It seems to me that Rovers are gaining in strength all the time in their hand vs City. Any betting on a Drogba/Robinho swap at some stage?
roversmad95 Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 So.... if RSC goes who is going to get on the end of his crosses? Eidur Gudjohnsen.... 31 might fancy a last crack at the prem... would still be good and he can score goals.... for 2 million pounds seems a good option... http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...icle2157466.ece
gazsimm Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 gudjohnsen will be a great signing for Rovers and if he fancys coming back to the prem, we have got every chance of signing him with sam in charge. Nicko you know gudjohnsen is a class player and could still do a job in the prem, unlike your burnley so called big stars!!
