He has a contract that lasts another 3 and a half years!

He had a clause in his contract allowing him to leave for £1.8 million in the summer though, that's probably why the poster of the original comment got confused. City have still paid a ridiculous amount in that context. Obviously most of Europe would have been after him for that price and, after the Kaka affair, City must have realised it takes more than money to persuade top players to go there instead of the top European sides.

He looked ok last night for the Ressies - very short on fitness and got skinned quite a few times at left back - but the conditions were poor and he looks like he has a pretty trustworthy left peg on him ! :rover:

Givet played left back?

That was scary...see above.

Nicko - do you think any other clubs are monitoring the Roque situation like Spurs/Villa or even One of the 'big 4' who have been linked previoulsy.

Could Big Sam pull off a swap deal involving Darren Bent or anyone else?

Harry R has been slagging off most of his players today in the paper, sounds like he wants to start with a new squad.

Nicko, was there any reason both Big Sam and Neil Macdonald were at Turf last night? Were they looking at anyone in particular or did they just fancy going?

I think Eagles would be worth a punt considering the squad we have, do you think Coyle would sell him given the right offer?

Both of them were given tickets by Coyley...what a guy, eh.

I think they were taking in a game and the favourite to be watched would be Huddlestone.

Not sure he would still be on the wish list after that, but you never know.

Eagles would be a bit expensive. And I believe there may be a right winger on the radar just now.

But it's not 11 o'clock yet, so I can't say. ;)

Nicko skysports have reported that red bull salzburg are unwilling to sell Janko at this point, do you know if this is a clear hands off warning or an attempt to maybe push up the price

It's a day-old story, maybe even older.

But when did you hear a club say 'look, we'll sell this guy if you offer the right money?' It doesn't happen.

Truth is that a big offer gets him. It just depends how much Rovers are willing to pay.

More on that at 11pm too.

Indeed, what a decent fella for given them tickets when it was sold out :tu:

Huddlestone was very disappointing though I thought he was never able to get into it thanks largely to how overrun spurs were all over the park. He's much better than that in a strong, discplined side although we haven't seen much of that at spurs ;)

How much is a bit expensive?

Huddlestone played an absolute peach of a 45 yard pass out to Gareth Bale in the left channel when it was still 2-0. Every other pass of that length was skidding away on the surface and was only controllable if the recipient received it facing the passer which obvious slowed play momentarily as it required a turn.

Perfection wasn't too good a word for it.

That was the one which Bale took on perfectly in his stride just beyond his marker and was able to run into the box before hitting a shot that was nearer the corner flag than finding the far corner of the net.

Huddlestone has always struck me of just needing some damned good coaching and is a player like Bentley who actualy would thrive as the star of a side as opposed to being one in a troop of show ponies.

The Independent are suggesting City are bidding £15m for Drogba. But of course like the Times with Henry, this transaction is likely to be a summer one (YAWN- City are not going to get Roque cheap playing that game)

We all are.

 that, coupled with the earlier picture isn't good after you've just eaten

Just to let you know Nicko that Given was out of the country yesterday at a funeral

This window is dragging like hell, but I'm sure that final extended weekend is going to be crazy....I hope Sam is working flat out and has deals tied up by then though

Yep, he played left back, got skinned by a pretty nimble footed Bolton Right Winger on a few occassions - Ollson played left midfield and was quite attack minded and did okay, Zurab played centre half and was solid, the Axe played central midfield, and was a class above everyone - and he even managed to string some accurate passes together
