nicko Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 what do you know about vogel nicko? is he on his way out? i am surprised big sam hasn't tried off-loading some of the deadwood yet Sam wants rid...thought his absence from the stiffs last night was significant...but as yet it is not. Don't think it is looking good for Calve, the right back, but that is to be confirmed. Plenty of Rovers stuff at 11 too.
nicko Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Ben Watson telling Middlesbrough that Wigan have come in...no sign of Rovers. Sunderland NOT in for Samba...
DeadlyDirk Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 nicko, Simon Grayson on skysports news saying that its quiet at the moment as it's a case of 'If's but's and maybe's' if you ask any agent or manager and that most of the deals will be done in this coming week, is that likely to be the case for Rovers?
rundereim Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Nicko one cuestion? transfer list...is there a actually list for clubs to search for players who are listed
LeChuck Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Nicko one cuestion? transfer list...is there a actually list for clubs to search for players who are listed Guess what game you've been playing...
Exiledfan Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Nicko one cuestion? transfer list...is there a actually list for clubs to search for players who are listed There's something like it on the PFA website, but it's mainly for free agents or lower league players. I'd imagine that the bigger name players just get their names circulated to the usual suspects in terms of agents etc. http://www.givemefootball.com/transfer-directory

I think Rovers know roughly who they want - it's a question of checking on them and their cost. But the Roque thing overshadows everything.
captainhaircut Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Nicko, Anything on Huddlestone? I've heard he's been told he's not needed and 3m may be enough to bring him in. Any movement? He's a player I've always liked.

Cheers mate. They seem to have stalled on Appiah as well. I wonder if they're looking to offload Huddlestone before bringing him in.

nicko Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 The news is early cos I have a tale to check out and can get this out of the way... ROVERS - Going to bid £6 million for Janko and want a quick answer...need to find a replacement for Roque. As that nice Gary Cook said the dynamic is that Rovers need a replacement before they will sell. It's a bit like the Friedel-Robinson scenario. ROVERS AGAIN - Back in for the Egyptian right winger Al-Mohammadi who was on trial under Ince...being watched and may yet be the surprise right wing solution. HESKEY - Villa are going to try to agree a fee, offer him fortunes and get Martin to persuade him Rafa is a Spanish waiter in more ways than one...that was a wee funny. Liverpool want him in the summer and the player was happy with that. Villa want to prove they want him more. MAN CITY - Celtic are keen on Ched Evans, expect to do a deal. No word yet on the Portuguese tale from earlier but thanks for the help. It is too bizarre to go into right now

I'm intrigued by Janko, but he could easily flop...
nicko Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Is Roque a dead cert to leave then? I'm intrigued by Janko, but he could easily flop... Roque will only go if a replacement is found and the sums add up...there's a fair amount of work going on with this right now.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I have a horrible sinking feeling that Roque is going to bang them in for City and there is nothing we can do about it...
Fylde Coast Fan Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I have a horrible sinking feeling that Roque is going to bang them in for City and there is nothing we can do about it... I can't see him ever having another season like last year for us, and this window is our only real chance to get some big profits out of him. Cheers for the goals last year, Roque, and don't celebrate when you score past us at Eastlands. If we don't sell him to City now there's a good chance Hughes will be gone before the next window opens.
rebelmswar Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I'm intrigued by Janko, but he could easily flop... Then again he could bang them in like a crazy man and we could have all this to look forward to again next January. His goal to game ratio is awesome, is the league he playing in easy to score in or something?
hawkiiz Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 I'm intrigued by Janko, but he could easily flop... everyone is a gamble... hopefully he will do better than bentley did for spurs ...but this guy DID score against us in the uefa-cup so it seems he does have the ability to score against PL sides.

If we don't sell him to City now there's a good chance Hughes will be gone before the next window opens. That is what I am thinking too, to be honest. We could end up regretting not selling him. Taking everything into account, it's probably a good time and price to sell. Hopefully the curse of glass-knees returns at City and he proves to be as much of a waste of cash as Bentley was for Spurs.

Janko at around £6m would leave us with plenty of the Roque money left over. IMO Santa is a class act (best since Sutton) - but his previous injury record does worry me - so may be best to cash in while we can. As you say - Hughes is possibly the only manager that would pay in excess of £15m for Santa - so this money isn't likely to be available in the summer (unless Hughes really turns it around at Eastlands - which I can't see)
Backroom Tom Posted January 22, 2009 Backroom Posted January 22, 2009 Janko is unproven but looks good and the fact is we would then have 9 million or so to play with as well as a like for like striker if the current figures came to fruition. I figure it makes business sense for Rovers, effectively replace roque with a decent forward plus right winger and right back. Any idea of backup options in case janko falls through? Also will a 'squad' striker also be looked at?
