steverovers Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 We need to get this guy, whether or not Santa leaves
tonyoz Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Surely RSC would be the best and proven option if he were given quality service from a quality right winger? How about a quality left winger?
deloreanwfn Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 he was a gamble when we bought him.... Roque was from Bayern and cost only 3.5 mil. Now this guy is from Salzburg and costs around 9 mil. Janko is a much bigger gamble
roversmad95 Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 nicko, is heskey available at a price? gone to villa 3 million....
hawkiiz Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Wrong. Santa Cruz is not a gamble. so he has a guarding angel that keeps him from getting injured again? cool.
dingles staying down 4ever Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 so he has a guarding angel that keeps him from getting injured again? cool. He has and we'll sell him to City for £100 million
Bobby G Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Janko is injury prone on the level of Roque, or so my Austrian friends have told me. He isnt as good as Santa Cruz was last season, but they say if we keep both, he would be a great back-up to him BUT our main job would be to keep him fit and playing.

I work in a austrian betting company and my austrian collegues says the opposite. They think he will make a mark in the premier league if he get the chanse. But he is a bit injury prone....that's for sure.
Bobby G Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 They said he is better than Roque? Note: I said that he isnt as good as Roque was LAST SEASON and if we keep Roque he will only be a back-up for him.
Kelbo Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 The thing I see with Janko is his finishing technique, right foot left foot, shots, placement, deft flicks!! They are the attributes of a good striker and obviously awareness to get him into the situations. I dont think he will score us 30 goals a season but 18 or so would be fine!! (wonder if he can fight Benni for the pens though, he does take a good penalty)
clint Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 They said he is better than Roque? No, not better then Roque, but they said that he could be "the new Roque", not a back-up to him. And he is not as dependent on good crosses from our midfield as Roque is. But you never know do you. He plays in the austrian league, which is of course not that good, but when you bang in 30 goals in 20 matches, you are doing something right.

From his profile at their website i got the impression that he is a guy that is remember that the club he play for gave him the chance to live his dream rather than seeing them as a stepping stone - very important for Rovers. Have we bid yet? do Nicko know what Janko thinks of going to us, and have other PL (or other) clubs shown interest?
alexanders Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 According to the mirror and Alan Nixon himself , Rovers are ready to bid £6 million. Ready to bid
nicko Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Rovers won't go to the £9 million fee first mentioned for Janko, I understand they will go to £6 million...and Salzburg have to give an answer. If they don't sell then Rovers have to find someone else - which is the plan at the weekend. The Roque to Man City deal hinges on finding a replacement. It's that simple. City are now talking numbers that add up, but only if the player is replaced and the right one at the right price is found. The spies are out watching the Egyptian right winger Al-Mohammadi in the Kenya game today - if anyone sees or hears anything feel free to pass it on. Villa making a big play for Heskey. You have to admire Martin O'Neill is he pulls that one off. I think he has to - because they have run out of alternatives.
Oklahoma Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Nicko, portuguese newspapers report that Veloso wants to be transfered this month to Man City for 20million €. Is he who you were talking about yesterday?
hawkiiz Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 fair enough about janko, but we are the only interested party?
nicko Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Nicko, portuguese newspapers report that Veloso wants to be transfered this month to Man City for 20million €. Is he who you were talking about yesterday? Yes, I think he is the one causing the interest...but not at that price. And I am not sure about the Man City link - think that is from the player's 'owners.' fair enough about janko, but we are the only interested party? Ajax asked about him too. But his agents seem to be pro the Rovers deal...they are over here enough! The wages and glamour are better in the Premier.
Oklahoma Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Another newspaper reports Bolton want Veloso on loan with a buy out option.
Bennisfromheaven Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Ajax asked about him too. But his agents seem to be pro the Rovers deal...they are over here enough! The wages and glamour are better in the Premier. Does this mean it is likely that Rovers are the only ones prepared to bid & as a result Jankos price is only what people are prepared to pay? i.e. 6 million
BRFCBOY Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 nicko you said you had an update on calve ??????/ have i missed it ????
EwoodGlory Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Gally to Huddersfield for £1m seems to be on, quality signing for them. I still think he should have been given more of a chance, hopefully a good a sell-on clause in there.
LeChuck Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 Rovers won't go to the £9 million fee first mentioned for Janko, I understand they will go to £6 million...and Salzburg have to give an answer. Any chance both sides will meet in the middle at £7.5 million or are both being very stubborn?
nicko Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 nicko you said you had an update on calve ??????/ have i missed it ???? Calve goes back to Nancy today, still an 'open' verdict on that one...could be on if they don't find anyone better before close of business. Nancy would loan him, so it's still got a chance. He made a favourable impression but maybe not enough to get the deal done immediately. Any chance both sides will meet in the middle at £7.5 million or are both being very stubborn? I think £6 million is THE figure as far as Rovers are concerned. It's probably a compromise already. Classic transfer window haggling all over the place.
