Janko. is a gamble, we all have our opinions on the possible outcomes.

From what I have seen he could be worth the risk.

I would think BS knows how he sees this panning out.

I think he would be a big asset in a change of tactics role when we switch from a 4-4-2 to a 4-5-1 protecting a small lead.

So start with Benni & Jason and then switching, or vice versa if chasing an away game.

Just my humble opinion. Im no footy manager.

Most players are gambles in that they are always one step away from injury. We've all seen innocuous challenges lead to major knee damage and so on. We could keep Santa Cruz and he could get a slight knock which keeps him out for weeks again. As long as we protect ourselves by lining up/buying a replacement before we even think of letting Santa Cruz go I don't think we can do much more and I don't mind his going. If we decide we're better off keeping him, which still seems to be the case at the moment although we don't know how much is going on behind the scenes, then I'm equally happy with that.

Oh dear,

Seems this one was missed earlier.

Big Sam on SkySports News now - 3 trialists are a no-no... Calve, Zoro and Gueye are not going to be offered deals and have left...

We're selling nobody and signing nobody atm! Nothing is on the books as happening...

Ahmed Al-Muhammadi might be being watched, he neither denied or accepted we were watching him...

He said looking at loans only... Perminant signings look like definately not happening...

Sounds like the Janko offer has been turned down to me, So RSC stays.

This is the same link as I posted in the Sunderland preview

Surprise surprise Sam was asked about transfers. Highlights of his comments are:

"There's been no movement, no communication between ourselves and Manchester City for the last few days now," added Allardyce.

"The position we're in is that Roque is still one of our players.

"I'm not expecting anything further, so we are where we are with him. We want him to stay.

"Now whether Manchester City make another move is entirely up to them."

With Santa Cruz seemingly staying put, and no money of his own to spend, it means Allardyce is only shopping in the loan market.

That rules out a £6million swoop for Red Bull Salzburg forward Marc Janko, and Barcelona's Eidur Gudjohnsen, a striker Allardyce knows well from their time together at Bolton.

"It would be lovely to have Eidur playing with me at Blackburn," added Allardyce.

"Whilst he might not be a regular at Barcelona at the moment, it is somewhere he still enjoys living and playing.

"So from that point of view, as much as I'd like it, it would be very difficult for him to come here.

"As of now there's nothing pending, nothing imminent one way or the other.

"We've had a look at a few trialists this week (Marco Zoro, Babacar Gueye and Jean Calve), but we don't feel they are going to improve the first team immediately.

"They're good players but we don't think they can make an impact straight away, so we'll be saying no to all of those.

"I'm only in the loan market, and we've done very well with Gael Givet, who I consider to be a quality player.

"If anybody else of that quality becomes available then yes, I'll be very interested, but if not then I'll go with the players I have here."

Allardyce was coy, though, with regard to Egyptian duo Mahmood Abdel Razek and Ahmed Al-Muhammadi, who are apparently being watched by a Rovers delegation in a friendly with Kenya on Friday.

"We've many players who are on our list, and no-one we are targeting," stated Allardyce.

"If anything particularly good arises in the next few days then we will move to try to secure it, but in the main that will only be on a loan basis."

Roque sale and replacement buy are tied together...

Obviously not got the replacement agreed yet.

Did the Sky chap even know who Janko was when he asked questions at the interview?

Rovers are watching the Egyptian today.

Calve gone - for now - as said earlier.

Heskey is going to Villa...shocker....couldn't hold on for Liverpool to find the cash or join them for nothing in the summer.

Does that make Rafa a Spanish 'waiter'?

That's meant to be a funny before anyone asks.

Makes you wonder about what state Liverpool are in.

Do you think Sam will move on to plan B?

Do you think Sam will move on to plan B?

Not yet, know more after the weekend if Plan B is watched.

Nicko, is Seitaridis and Chretien off? Where is Ben Haim? Nobody seems to even notice him any more. BTW Wigan is close to sign Stephen Hunt. Is there any connection to Ryan Taylor? Thanks Nicko!

I don't know if either are being watched this weekend.

Ben Haim is very expensive...if he was going to be in the swap that would have been done by now.

Hunt not too keen on Wigan I believe.

They won't sell Taylor unless the price is daft...in grave danger of running out of players.

About as funny as it was when you tried it yesterday :P

Is the Robinho story you alluded to earlier in the week still rumbling on?

Now, you know I can't expand on that one.

Maybe he went back to Brazil to cancel Mrs Robinho's newspapers...

I know, just wondering if it was still going or it had blown over.

Sounds like it's still going.

Just had a text from a City supporting friend who says that Hughes has actually said in an interview today that he is still trying to sign RSC from Rovers and hopes the deal goes through before the deadline.

Is this true Alan ? Could it be right that he is openly courting RSC in the media ? is that an offence under premiership rules ?

The interview has been shown today, it was recorded in Tenerife yesterday.

Sparky used the word 'bids' and the story with it suggested three, which would include the latest one.

I don't think he was breaking any rules.

I believe he is telling the truth.

I think Hughes has been openly courting several targets since the window opened, as long as he going through the club first there is nothing illegal about it. But anyway they are rich, they can do what they want, since when did rules matter in football? Tevez?
