If we are to accept the Hughes and co neve ending chase for the legend that is RSC, then for me D-Day has to be Monday.

Monday 26th january 2009.

This is turning out to be a very critical week for BRFC.

Its the last full week of the transfer window.

We have a massive home game versus The Winkers from Bolton.

We have an even more massive away game at Boro coming up on Saturday next.

If Rovers are going to sell RSC then for me Monday has to be the cut off point for accepting a bid. It allows a week to ensure adequate replacements are found for the squad and more importantly up front.

It will also prevent Rovers from taking their eyes off the ball in respect of Wednesday's game. we just do not need transfer speculation and mad media reporting as we lead into Wednesday, the squad needs to be settled and ready for what is going to be a very tough home game where 3 points are the requirement.

So Sam, JW and the Board, the club has to come first.

Tell Hughes, once and for all, Monday 5pm is the cut off point for his £20m price tag, if they dont put up FOXTROT OSCAR.

We have bigger issues on the horizon. RSC is a Rovers player and we have massive games on which potentially the club will live or die by.

6 points form these two games is worth far more than worrying about Hughes and his arabs simply wanting to rape our club of its major asset in their quest for greatness - something I may add will never be achieved with Hughes at the helm or indeed with the brand that is called MCFC

Curiously Nicko where does Spurs bottomless pit of money come from??

did levy follow a rainbow or something??

A city guy call Joe Lewis, I think he is worth over a billion, maybe more (or was before the city went pop)

To be fair to Hughes, although goodness only knows why I should be, if it was up to him santa Cruz would already be at Eastlands. It's not him mucking about - it's the chief exec and possibly the owners. They've known who he wanted all along and could have bought him with their pocket money, if they'd really trusted their manager. Instead they've messed about and whinged about other clubs not handing over their better players and treated the transfer window like some kind of market stall where if you haggle for long enough you get what you want at what you consider a knock down price and is actually what the other guy wanted in the first place. They've splashed for some players but not for ours treating our club with less respect than a club like West Ham who probably never in their wildest dreams expected to get hat much for Bellamy. Hughes hasn't helped matters by constantly "tapping up" roque although it's allowed once you've made an official bid i suppose, but it's not him pulling the strings and actually doing the buying.

Fair play to MON, bargain with emile heskey in at Villa - £3.5m for the current england centre forward, with man city shelling out nearly £15m on the wales centre forward, that is only 6 or so months younger....... now i read hes going in for Michael Owen - any truth in that Nicko, or is it just the papers talking....... I could really see the villa breaking the top4 - wished rovers could get up there with em

anyway back on topic, whats going on down rovers at the minute, I aggree with the deadline set to conclude a RSC deal..... the last thing we can do is sell on deadline day with no replacement - then again im sure SA isnt stupid and wouldnt let this happen, but I spose there is always the danger it could be taken out of his hands.......

heres a suggestion for Sam, how about Fryatt from leicester - think he could make the stepup !!

I could see that Veloso going to Bolton if they do manage to find the cash. A lot of the top european players want to play in the premiership and if there are no other takers then he'll probably fancy it for a couple of years, he's what like 23 or something now? Plenty of time to get a bigger move later on down the line if he shows he can cut it at Bolton. It's probably the right time for him to move and the right time for Lisbon to get a big profit it, wouldn't be surprised if it was put on hold until the summer though. Saying that though Bolton may feel they have less competition if they try and force it through now.

I know nothing about this egyptian lad, I'd guess it's tricky to judge any ability he had against the likes of Kenya! We could definitely do with a bit of flair and creativitiy at times, no idea if this guy has that but for £1.5 million he could be worth a gamble even if doesn't prove to be an impact this year.

I've always liked Huddlestone but there is obviously something missing to him, maybe it is the pace I'm not sure, but I don't remember Redknapp, Ramos or Jol even picking him as a certain starter every time. Saying that I'd still like to see him as a Tugay replacement at the right price. Maybe his career is just stalling a little.

Any word on Roque featuring today nicko?

I agree that this is an important week for the club. We need to sell Cruz for the right money / bring Janko in (i'm all for this) / sort out that Egyptian right winger and maybe another couple of loans.

Most teams are in the same position though.

Would anyone with the know-how and the time be able to pull together a list of ins/outs for each Prem club? Just to see how we look against our lower half rivals...

Is it true that Citeh are looking to offload Micah Richards for 5 mil? if that is the case then why don't we get on that train, versatile right back and centre back!!!

Because we can't afford him? His wages are now more than anyone at Rovers and if he would move, you can bet that he's not taking a pay cut nor a modest pay rise, but a big one.

Maybe he is spur's version of Gallagher - great skill but soft as **** and no bottle.

We've absolutely GOT to get an attacking midfielder in , Dunn's out today with the achilles again. If he was a horse we would have shot him. Play a game miss the next five is no good to anyone.

what about giles barnes ? do you think he's worth taking a punt on ? tbh i'd forgot all about him until the utd games , very highly rated as a youngster , then had a terrible season with derby in prem (got injured if memory serves) just coming back to fitness now, if we could get him on loan or a knock down fee ??

I have to say I hope to god Rovers are being true to their word and backing Sam with as much coin as possible but hearing todays news that loan signings look the most probable, well, I'm starting to worry. We are crying out for some strength and quality in midfield ffs!

Is it going to be the same excuses from the Ewood money men folks? :glare:

Slightly surprised (or should I be?) that with our Premiership future at stake, it appears Sam is not being given sufficient funding to add some quality to the team. We are still in a massive fight to stay up and a quality signing would give everyone a massive lift.

I appreciate it is difficult to get decent players in January, and I am not saying sign someone for the sake of it, but still....

The Bentley money has been taken by the Trustees and they seem quite happy for Rovers get relegated with Santa money to pay-off the contracts of those that can't be sold. Every other club at the bottom end is taking action in the window - not sitting on their hands. The recurrence of Dunn's achilles injury is massive bad news although him getting an injury is hardly a surprise. Where is the creativity to open up defences at Ewood? Scoreless draws won't be enough. Truly this is a club without a shred of ambition and to join it Sam must have been truly desperate for a job. I hope the next 8 days prove me wrong - but I doubt it.

As has been mentioned before the bentley money will probably have cleared a huge chunk of the 15 to 20 mill overdraft rovers have to run with therefore saving the club large amounts in interest. The problem comes when the club want to extend the borrowings again to fund signings in the current financial climate. The trustees wont just take 15 mill off the club and let it sail down the river as they have to carry the can in the event of relegation. Anyway a bit off topic but why do people post such crap.

No major news, but a couple of small items.

Man City are still sure they are landing Roque...that is from a high-up.

However that will take Rovers finding a replacement at the right price. Plan B will be watched this weekend - sounds like Janko may be too expensive.

Found out that Sam's sulk on Friday was because he wanted to sign a player last week - for a fee and big wages - and was knocked back...

Oh dear.

So the board/trustees/whoever, are stifiling his ambitions?

That does not sound good, as we must have not spent much on transfer fees at all in the last few years when you take players going out into account. I feel Sam may walk not this summer, but the one after unless the club is willing to have any sort of transfer budget.

The time to analyse that is when the window shuts.

It seems odd that Hull City can take a punt on Jimmy Bullard and yet Rovers seem unable to move without ANOTHER sale.

It needs to be explianed, but the trouble is it won't be until the window shuts.

Curious.
