I agree with you, Stu, that we need to wait until the end of the window to see how much/little we spend. However, they did say they would be providing 3 million of funding, not taking out 7 million plus of profit....

But it's only profit if we were breaking even before the sale. It seems like some posters on here (Not aimed at the quoted poster) think that transfer fees is the only expenditure the club has! So if we sell for more than we buy, there has to be money available. Which isn't always the case.

None of us know what's going on with the financial situation at the moment. It could be that costs have risen that need to be covered. It could be that the money being earned now (Or at least some of it) is being earmarked for covering increased costs over the next year or two, so that any future transfer earnings can go straight to the transfer kitty. I of course have no idea either, but while it certainly does seem like the trustees are reluctant to put much extra money into the club (And I don't blame them... a football club is a bottomless pit), I also don't think it's fair to accuse them of pocketing all the cash without any evidence of that.

Let's also remember that the wage bill has increased with Robinson, Andews and Grella signing as well as new deals for RSC and Benni. Despite Friedel/Bentley leaving. Givet according to nicko would cost us £1m in wages, and there's also paying off Ince and the loan fees for Simpson and Villanueva. This would still leave us with a sizeable transfer kitty, but when factoring this into the equation it's still less than the £18-20m some seem to think we have.

Yet again some are jumping to conclusions with a good week left of the window.

Im simply bored with reading comments accusing the trustees of "squirreling" money away. Whilst they don't put as much in as many of us (myself included) would like, they certainly do not take money out of the club.

In the past I've asked questions about disappearing funds, and most of them have been answered - particularly in relation to the Bentley deal.

However, if RSC goes and we get the £15m up front as expected, we'll be in a much better position to see where they stand.

How much do you reckon ince's compo was? and Knox? and Mathias?

Surely thats taken away the 4M we still had to pay on Villa, maybe more (depends what the coach's earnt).

If the trust are funnelling money off the top, surely it will all eventually come out when the appropriate accounts are published.

At the end of the day I have enough faith in the current group that we can stay up.

But a central midfielder would be nice.

excellent point. didn't cross my head. it would most certainly have impacted the amount of funds available. the angriest part is thinking how much it is that's gone to the tossers for doing a horrific job.

Dzeko linked.

Pompey, Arsenal have been linked. Pompey at about 7.5M and where told by magath to do one (daily mail).

He is a better prospect than Janko imo, and has played and scored against better teams in Europe looked good against Pompey and Milan.

22 years old as well, just wonder how much he would be?

Oh and Congrats to Mr Beckham, he's still got some magic in those boots.

Slightly concerned also About Allardyce's demeanour at a recent press conference. Did he have the air of somebody who had bought into something only to find that he had he hadn't quite got the full picture?

Totally Agree. My view as well when I saw him give that interview,he looked very unhappy to me and not his usual self.

You stated Mr Williams that you had secured the man you wanted from the start when you hired Sam,he has lifted the moral of the team and fans beyond what we expected.....surely he deserves to be financially backed to the hilt.

We are playing with our future and 30-40 Million of tv money if we dont.

If we sell Santa Cruz will all the money go to team rebuilding ?.

How much transfer money have we got for this transfer window before any sale of a player.reason

The club would never allow SA to spend all the proceeds of any sale of RSC so imo that is the very reason for the supporters to be united in wanting to keep him through this window. Too many supporters are metaphorically stamping their feet in a hissy feet and suggesting that we 'get rid' asap.

It is annoying that we never seem to be able to spend any money we make off selling our players. However, I would be equally miffed about flogging RSC for less than £20m just to get some money to buy a 4th rate player just because he is available.

The Egyptian connection is intruiging, but then I have never heard of these guys so I have no idea of the company.

Fair point but we got a completely unexpected 5m in compensation for the departure of Hughes and his team so without knowing the exact details I would presume the effects of the two two managerial changes would roughly even themselves out.

Agreed.

Sam has been playing a blinder in insisting publicly that relegation would cost us 40m and that unless anyone offers something like that amount for RSC he won't be going anywhere.

Just hope the owners don't pull the rug from under his feet and sell RSC at the last minute because we know we'd only end up with some dolloper on loan/costing about 1-2m as a replacement.

The manager is in Spain this evening.

It's a striker - and a potential replacement for Roque.

I have been told of TWO games he is supposed to be at and a striker on the list scored in each.

So, still working on this one.

But if it is someone in the budget then it could happen and the Roque saga will also be over.

The story about Zoro to Bolton is a surprise to Bolton, by the way.

Unless the £5m Hughes compo was ear-marked for Carlos but was then used to pay off Ince...? Philip has previously explained that we haven't seen any Bentley money yet due to the installments. Sounds like we really are skint!

I've read on here that a profit of 7 million for last fiscal year should be announced soon - that is where I got the figure from. And this was as of June end, before any of the summer player moves, but after compo for Hughes was received.

From what I remember at the time, Robinson is on lower wages than Brad, and we have Savage and Bentley contracts off of the books. I hope that either Sam is blowing smoke, or him or the board thinks a loan signing is our best bet to stay up and then make a bigger splash in the market in the summer. Unfortunately, we've been saying that for about 2-3 years now. I do like the idea of a loan plus an option that we have been using, but it also limits the quality of player we can get.
