BuckyRover Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 I have been impressed with Goitom when I have seen him. I think he could cut it in the Premiership

Bobby G Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 I would wager a guess at Zigic. Maybe Soldado if we are lucky but I doubt it and he would cost a fee for certain.
TugaysMarlboro Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Zigic Uche Barral Soldado Goitom From what I can gather from using Yahoo's La Liga sports page. Didn't Soldado formerly play for Real Madrid? Or is that a different Soldado. Do do do do do....a Barral roll...do do do do
herbergeehh Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Didn't Nicko just confirm that Zigic is one of the players being watched?
Billy Castell Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 From the reports I have read of Zigic, he is inconsistent. One day he apparently is good, the next he is a slow donkey. It will not matter if he is a donkey as long as he gets goals though.
herbergeehh Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Soldado did play for Real Madrid. Huge talent, but didn't do as well as expected.. Different type of player from Roque, Janko, Zigic though. Don't know if that matters.. Nicko, any idea what type of striker we are looking at? The names mentioned earlier does point towards a big, strong striker, but we could use a small, quick one too. Sturridge...
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Uche seems to ring a bell... Were we interested in him under Ince? EDIT: And it's Kala Uche from Almeria not his younger brother for Getafe. EDIT2: Actually both Uches scored. Both are forwards. This could get confusing.
AndyNeil Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 any sign of the great man tonight? ... can we expect an 11 o'clocker?
hawkiiz Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 any sign of the great man tonight? ... can we expect an 11 o'clocker? i think he gave an "early o'clocker" tonight.
AndyNeil Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 The manager is in Spain this evening. It's a striker - and a potential replacement for Roque. I have been told of TWO games he is supposed to be at and a striker on the list scored in each. So, still working on this one. But if it is someone in the budget then it could happen and the Roque saga will also be over. The story about Zoro to Bolton is a surprise to Bolton, by the way. This I presume ... these late nights must be catching up with the old fella
nicko Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 This I presume ... these late nights must be catching up with the old fella No, 11 o'clocker it is. STRIKER - Should point out I heard TWO different stories about Sam's game in Spain..not that he was at two games...still trying to find out which one was right. Yes, it's late. WIGAN - Trying for Joe Ledley at Cardiff...think they are missing out on Hunt at Reading. PORTSMOUTH - Trying again for Joey Barton. TOTTENHAM - Cudicini on his way, Chimbonda too. And a Burnley situation that some out there know about could become public very shortly. No more this evening...sore head...trying to work out Lost...wondering why anyone bothers.
HemelRover Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 TOTTENHAM - Cudicini on his way, Chimbonda too. Chimbonda going back to Spurs....incredible!
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 PORTSMOUTH - Trying again for Joey Barton. Adams has completely Lost the plot there. And by the sounds of it, so has Nicko.
Wolverine Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 No more this evening...sore head...trying to work out Lost...wondering why anyone bothers. Don't know why but would never have had you down as a fan, Nicko! Seeing as you get asked daft questions all the time, any idea what the smoke monster is? PS. Thanks for the transfer info - a welcome diversion.
B.R.F.C Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Just a note to all those thinking we may sign Zigic. He is on loan to Racing at present from Valencia and so its highly unlikely we will be signing him in the transfer window. He actually scored tonight in Racings 2-0 win away to Sevilla.
Eddie Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 OK, so looking over the scorers in Spain the candidates become: Zigic (highly likely to be one of the two based on previous links) Uche (who again we were linked to in the summer) Barral (seems less likely) Soldado (perhaps a bit pricey) I'd say the two are most likely Uche and Zigic as that would play into what are scouts have liked in the past and they would appear to be within budget and probably both available.
Majiball Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 I seem to think (dunno why) that Ince was on an 'evergreen' 12 month contract and them other two surely could not have been on mega bucks by any stretch, so his pay off might not have been as costly as some reckon and I would imagine a long way behind the compo that we received For Hughes and his team. I sincerely hope so. But I thought he got 3 years at 1.5M a year at least thats what I read. I wonder what clauses where contained? I was amazed at the size of his deal, green for green I guess. Chimbonda going back to Spurs....incredible! Not even the script writers of Eastenders or Coronation street could match the hilarious plot-line of this club. Who's next? Keane was left out today, Malbrange, Taino, Robinson????
Blue n White Rover Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Not even the script writers of Eastenders or Coronation street could match the hilarious plot-line of this club. Who's next? Keane was left out today, Malbrange, Taino, Robinson???? I heard Darren Anderton was coming back from retirement! Nicko are we any closer to a done deal at the moment? I bloody can't wait till this window shuts!
Tim Southampton Rover Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 No more this evening...sore head...trying to work out Lost...wondering why anyone bothers. Tell me about it!! That woman at the end...she was in a picture frame in the monastery with a fellow Father when Desmond was there. Ben also answers to her....maybe she's Jacob My head hurts. Cheers for the 11 o'clocker Nicko!
FourLaneBlue Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Funny thing but on reflection Souness, Hughes and even SA all seem to be able to perform better WITHOUT money. Not quite the whole story. They all did better with little money but not without any money at all. The Trustees need to at least give Sam something to work with. In his first transfer window Hughes was able to bring in Savage, Nelsen and Mokoena. Not a huge outlay but enough to help us away from the relegation zone as well as onto a semi-final. I do not think we need many changes to the squad however midfield really does need strengthening. We will see if Sam is being backed with a little cash or not at all soon enough I guess.
Backroom Tom Posted January 26, 2009 Backroom Posted January 26, 2009 Tell me about it!! That woman at the end...she was in a picture frame in the monastery with a fellow Father when Desmond was there. Ben also answers to her....maybe she's Jacob My head hurts. Cheers for the 11 o'clocker Nicko! She was also the same woman that refused to sell Desmond a ring in a flashback, she told him he is meant to have second thoughts, I preume it be Daniels mum. Sorry waaay off topic. To bring it back on topic, Nicko how soon is a move expected to be made on plan B?
Texan Rover Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Uche seems to ring a bell... Were we interested in him under Ince? EDIT: And it's Kala Uche from Almeria not his younger brother for Getafe. EDIT2: Actually both Uches scored. Both are forwards. This could get confusing. Don't remember a link to either Uche, though it's possible I could have missed that. Kalu Uche was at Wisla during the time I lived in Krakow and followed the club. He's a right winger who can play up front, but not a pure center forward. He has bags of pace and a fair bit of skill, but I never saw anything that suggested he was good enough for the Premiership. (Granted, this was six years ago -- he was 20 -- and he's had some seasoning in France and Spain.) I see that he's only gotten a full 90 minutes in his last three matches, and has four goals in that period. So he's definitely on form at the moment. (Don't know much about Ikechukwu, the younger brother -- who IS a striker -- as he never played in Poland.)
AJW Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 No, 11 o'clocker it is. And a Burnley situation that some out there know about could become public very shortly.
