Oklahoma Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 According to skysports, Portsmouth signed Pele, from FC Porto on loan. He could be a good option for Rovers midfield.

socngill Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 The Keane for Cruz would be an interesting one. I would expect some cash coming our way as well as the player though. Also, Keane is a very different type of player to Cruz. Also, if people are worried that he would look to move in 12 months time, that would only be possible if he has done well for us and then we would be looking for a decent fee for him. Assuming he would sign a 3 or 4 year deal which seems to be the norm these days. I am however, unsure if he would want to come here. Would still prefer we just kept Cruz.
philipl Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 to be fair though, 20million for roque is silly prices too. if we got paid that I would expect any club to ask for "their cut" - if you will- for any replacement we went in for. Every price paid by City is silly. We just want an even sillier one. If fairness mattered, they would have dropped the whole thing last August.
67splitscreen Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Good player, crazy wages though. But maybe not that crazy. Keene on loan. Everton This has to be bboollooxx why would Liverpool ever want to help out there rivals. Keene
nicko Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Rovers watched THREE strikers around Europe at the weekend - all fairly expensive. That can only mean one outcome - get Roque's replacement and get him sold. More details later.
Blue n White Rover Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Rovers watched THREE strikers around Europe at the weekend - all fairly expensive. That can only mean one outcome - get Roque's replacement and get him sold. More details later. The main question is, which i'm sure everone is thinking, are any of those strikers the same quality as RSC and are they worth the money we'll pay for them?
Hughesy Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Have we actually made a bid is more important surely?? Cudicin & Chimbonda to spurs this morning. Mullins & Pele to pompey. Davenport to sunderland also a possibility.
Bennisfromheaven Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 "only" problem is how would we pay his wages??? What is Keane currently on? Im thinking Roque is on 60,000 a week (could be dreaming but thought i saw it on here!) Roque should be more valuable to liverpool than Keane as he is a target man & younger. Could we expect money coming our way? I would rather see Roque stay but it is becoming more apparent that he wants to leave. I think this is a tricky one as the longer it goes on the less we can expect for him
Hughesy Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Cudicini has gone on a FREE transfer. Good business for Spuds.
Bobby G Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Nicko if we sell Roque and therefore get some cash in, is there a signal that we will be back in for the player you say Sam was disappointed the club didnt back him on?
nicko Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Nicko if we sell Roque and therefore get some cash in, is there a signal that we will be back in for the player you say Sam was disappointed the club didnt back him on? No, that one has passed.
67splitscreen Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 No, that one has passed. It must have been big money, I would say in excess of 6m ? Roque is on around 50k is he not.
modes98 Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Why are spurs signing back the players they sold a few months ago for more money?
bennyboyt11 Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Cos they're one of the most mental clubs in the league modes98?
Brownie Posted January 26, 2009 Author Posted January 26, 2009 No, that one has passed. I've been 'told' that was Bullard.
Hughesy Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Why are spurs signing back the players they sold a few months ago for more money? Because its spurs, they are like Newcastle, they dont do the normal, the do everything wrong and backwards. Roque is on 60k a week.
Blue n White Rover Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I've been 'told' that was Bullard. If that's true then I'm glad we didn't spend £5million on him. No way is he worth that much money, rather keep the money than waste it on him. Average player and is way over-rated on this MB. Keith Andrews managed to keep him quiet FFS at Ewood!
my_name_is_Earl Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Is anything likely to come of these three strikers Nicko? Would I be right in assuming that Sam is actually eager to sell Roque as he really wants to go along with Plan A and bolster the ranks with his own players?
The Prof. Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Nicko if we sell Roque and therefore get some cash in, is there a signal that we will be back in for the player you say Sam was disappointed the club didnt back him on? Does this Board never learn. You back you manager 'cos he's the manager. Depressed again. The message is they are not releasing money they took in the summer because they think they know better than the manager. The last one okay but this one has done a great job up to now. How long will they hold on to him. We're not out of the woods yet don't they know!
67splitscreen Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I've been 'told' that was Bullard. Sure Nicko said, it was a striker.

If Brownie is correct that it was Bullard then it's obviously a Head v Heart decision. He's the type of player that we need and Sam probably knows it BUT his knee must be an absolute wreck. To wrap so much investment up in a crock would be wrong especially given the recent first hand experience we have (Martin Dahlin) of buying sick notes in hope and of insurance companies reluctance to shell out on them. With the stakes so high and our finances so fragile we have to get every decision right. Gambling is for losers.

With the stakes so high and our finances so fragile we have to get every decision right. Gambling is for losers. Yes but don't you get a medical team and an insurer to check this out. Or do you just guess and play at being an expert like the Board appear to be doing. If he's not insurable he doesn't come - surely? Unless we have an under 30's policy now (which might not be a bad thing) the manager has to be backed until the real experts say it's a no goer. We're going all amatuerish again and I thought that had changed in the last few weeks. "I'll be amatuer knee specilist John." "Oh okay I'll be amatuer thigh tickler Rob. What do you want to be Fred..."
budha Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Bet he's on under 40 and nearer 30. If Riise was on 30 (The payslip picture) and Torres is 90, I would say Keane is definitely over 40. Edit: Riise 30, not 40
T4E Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I've been 'told' that was Bullard. That would seem to fit.
