alexanders Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 The only way they could pull this off is if [a] he comes over and does his medical and agrees terms applies for a work permit and [c] goes back to Egypt long enough to play in the Cup final. Maybe he did a medical in Egypt

farhanology Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Why a loan and not a permanent deal for the Egyptian guy? - might backfire on Rovers, cue Wigan. Well I thought 1.5m is a reasonable fee for an outright transfer, not a 6-month loan. And he would not be demanding megastar wages even to the tune of 30k per week.
nicko Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Maybe he did a medical in Egypt The guy will have to come over and get all of the medical and paperowrk done in England before this can go any further...obviously there is time for that. But how he can physically play a Cup final on the same day as the deadline before changing clubs seems novel. Going to be a great tale on the day if it happens. Hope he is worth the fuss.
BuckyRover Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I am happy with Sam and what is doing. I have been to more matches under Sam than Ince.
Oklahoma Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Does he play for Engineering for the Petrolium & Process Industries? Also known as ENPPI?

In this case it is understandable...he is coming from an unknown standard to a club that may or may not be in the Premier League...and a club where even finding £1.5 million cash seems to be a stretch. As long as the guy can play and contribute to the games ahead nobody will be complaining. Not saying this is a done deal but there are obviously things happening around it to suggest it has a chance of going through,
67splitscreen Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Just fishing here. When a player comes in for a trail, would he not have to undergo a medical. I assume he would have to be insured while trailing with us. Does he play for Engineering for the Petrolium & Process Industries? Also known as ENPPI? Yes.
Billy Castell Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I remember reading about a player starting a match for one team, then signing the contract at half time and playing or wearing the shirt of the opposing team in the 2nd half. I think it was in the 1950's and involved Liverpool. Any chance the match can be played 6am British time, so there is time for the papers to be signed up and sent off? Anyway, I'm sure it'll be sorted out.
nicko Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Just fishing here. When a player comes in for a trail, would he not have to undergo a medical. I assume he would have to be insured while trailing with us. Some come on trial and are obviously not good enough. Some come for a 'test' which includes a medical. Not sure on the insurance thing. The Egyptian guy has already been at Rovers, was seen by the staff [briefly] and has been watched again. I don't think the manager has seen him though.
bigbrandjohn Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Whereas you are a ***** due to a lack of education and ignorance. He wants out. You are the idiot for suggesting that I am somehow unhinged for wanting to sell our STAR striker that has scored the grand total of 3 GOALS all season. My God, how will we cope without him. 18m? That would be a record sale for a Blackburn player. For a player who did rubbish at Bayern, because he couldn't be bothered. I notice that he didn't ask for a transfer their either. Why not? If we rescued him from hell (I think those were his words) Let's look at his Bayern record: 1999–00 32 7 2000–01 19 5 2001–02 32 8 2002–03 14 5 2003–04 37 6 2004–05 4 - - 2005–06 15 4 2006–07 35 3 20 goal a season striker? Dream on; One season wonder! He is up there with the best of them, Michael Ricketts, Marcus Stewart etc.etc I think that is plain for anyone to see. Lets just pause for a moment, Roque was bought for a few millon by Hughes who he did well for. Hughes now sits on a pile of cash the size of Blackpool Tower and still likes Roque. So he is prepared to offer 18 million quid for a player that at a push for any other manager might be worth 10-12 million. No other club will pay that much and even Chelsea are cutting back on the sandwiches at the training ground. We will never get another opportunity to get that kind of money, and once the transfer window is over so will the opportunity. Hughes is buying him for now. In the summer he will have more choices ,more time ,or no job. This cake is baked, there is no absolute certainty of a proven scorer anywhere outside the premier league so take the money, check out a workhorse for around 8 million to support Benni Jason and Derbs and pocket the rest for the summer. These next few months will be about cold dark afternoons and evenings grinding a result, not a time for experimenting.
they_think_its_all_rover Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Aha. I see the solution. You didn't know the new Dr Who was a Rovers fan, did you? Heard he's on another planet somewhere, trying to find out who stole his eyebrows.
Veevs Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Not sure Hughes will be backed up in regards to spending 18m on RSC.. he may have cash but from the sounds like he does not have the full backing of the board.. seems to me if they dont feel a player is worth it they are not spending it.. All in all they are driving me mad.. spend silly on Bellamy and De Joey.. Refuse to pay full amount for the likes of given and RSC.. Rumoured to be willing to let good players go (Richards.. Johnson.. etc)... yet bidding daft money on Kaka.. I would love to be a fly on the wall there. I have to admit almost falling off my chair reading the rather amusing wiki on that egyptian chap.. "reportedly led to interest from several European clubs, one of them rumoured to be leatherhead FC." brilliant..

You cannot compare him with any of the players you quoted. Though his injury and goal scoring record at Bayern was ***p his international record remained good. Personally I would sell him - I too have doubts about his injury record - and his continued desire to play for Rovers now that his head has been turned. Having said that - I agree with the club that we should have a decent replacement and record fee to compensate. Whatever your impression of the current goings on - I don't think we should lose sight of the fact that (when fit and motivated) Santa is a very good striker. I have always said - if Berbatov is worth £30m - then Santa is worth at least £20m.
jim mk2 Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Sorry Bucky - Santa is the best striker that Rovers have had since Sutty. . Conveniently forgetting the phenomenal season Bellamy had in a Rovers shirt.
broadsword Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Definitely cash in on him. I can't see him having a second half of the season to justify keeping him.
alexanders Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Many reports are suggesting that a deal has already been made with ENPPI and Ahmed Al-muhammadi will be presented as a new players in the coming days.

Im fairly sure there would be no reason to stop the medical and paperwork being completed anywhere in the world, as long as the correct personnel did it. I was also under the impression that the permit need not be granted before the window closes, just had to be applied for? I cant remember what happened last season to make me think that though.
blue and whites Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 nicko: so, are you sure rovers will be signing this egyptian guy?
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Conveniently forgetting the phenomenal season Bellamy had in a Rovers shirt. No
nicko Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 nicko: so, are you sure rovers will be signing this egyptian guy? The player thinks so...he could be lying, of course. I will believe it when it happens.
donis1410 Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 man this transfer window is sooooo like marmite!!!!!!!!!
blue and whites Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 do you know what happens with arshavin nicko, i'm so tired with that guy..
nicko Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 do you know what happens with arshavin nicko, i'm so tired with that guy.. The Russians now want to sell - no-one else is in at the price for all of the daft Man City rumours last week. The player is on a fortune - if he wants too much it will be off. Tedious in the extreme. Would be happy if it collapsed. But I do have it on my 'tick' list of scoops that turned into signings if it goes through...so hope it happens for that strictly selfish reason.
Fraserkirky Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Pleased with the way Rovers have handled the RSC situation. I think we will sell him this week if the offer is around 20million and rightly so. Really hope we have tried to get Sturridge in the deal. The guy looks brilliant! Would have thought he would be interested in a move to Rovers. We need to get the egyptian lad in and get a replacement for RSC,then bank the rest. The money will be handy for sams summer budget and hopefully not a relegation bumper.
Fife Rover Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Nicko: What odds do you think you would get at your favorite Bookies against Rovers signing Arshavin? Just had a great idea: Assuming you get 1,000,000 to 1 against, you put £50 or £100 on (whatever; and provided by Rovers). Then Rovers go ahead and get the deal agreed with club and player , but part of the agreement is that the club get paid in full within a week of the transfer window closing. The player signs for Rovers on deadline day; then you go and collect your winnings and pocket the change having given the Rovers the fee for Arshavin out of your winnings....let's say Rovers get him for a total outlay of £60m, that's a nice little earner for you, and you wont be worrying about any of your stories getting scooped for a week or two.
