Bobby G Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Interesting, do they have a knack for getting things right Oklahoma?

AndyCV Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Nicko, Do you expect much more movement before the window, or do you think that most of the transfers have happened already?
nicko Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Nicko, Do you expect much more movement before the window, or do you think that most of the transfers have happened already? There will be quite a lot, but there are so many amateurs around...
Oklahoma Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Well, I trust more "O Jogo" than "Record". And normally they only make up big transfers for the first team players of the big teams lol Let's see if Jogo knows more than Record.
nicko Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Jean Calve, who was on trial last week, is about to sign for Lorient in France. Can't see Rovers giving a long contract to Zoro after they were undecided on him last week...Bolton being linked too but they still deny it.
The Prof. Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Prof, you make a good point about "robin hood". His antics might just have pushed Roques price up. What would the city owners be thinking, given their attitude to such antics in their own country? It's making my eyes water just thinking about it!
donis1410 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I see the front page of the Sun is very interesting Nicko? **cough**cough** NUFF SAID
Oklahoma Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Here, it was always mentioned that Sam liked Zoro but there were some details between the clubs that were not agreed.
philipl Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Sam was in all the papers saying he had looked at all three triallists but they were not ready for the first team now so it was no thanks to all of them. I can only guess Zoro's folk have offered a pay as you play solution.
nicko Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I see the front page of the Sun is very interesting Nicko? **cough**cough** NUFF SAID Splutter...splutter...yes.
Hi Mack Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Nicko you said before youy didnt think grella was good enough.........you think? Hes shown glimpses of class and a run in the team will see him improve! From what ive seen hes looked quality!

Hes shown glimpses of class and a run in the team will see him improve! From what ive seen hes looked quality! He doesn't play enough games. You have enough of those already. Three of your first-team midfielders have trouble staying injury-free...and another is at the veteran stage. There's a big risk being taken if there are no midfield arrivals.
Bobby G Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I think if fit and on form, he is the best at what he does in our squad. And the closest to a quality defensive midfielder we have had in a long long time. I dont know how Vogel was at his peak, but Grella is currently the much better option.

I forgot Vogel...that's three half-fit midfielders, a golden oldie and a huffy Swiss. The third word in your post says it all. Major risks being taken here.
spencey7 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 The chase for a Roque replacement isn't over yet. It was over before it ever began. What's the point watching "top strikers" when you refuse to spend more than £4m on any player? There's a big risk being taken if there are no midfield arrivals. And midfield isn't even being made a priority! Another disastrous window for Rovers. And I know you'll suggest we "wait and see" Nicko, but there's been virtually no movement - The strongest links we've had are with an unheard-of Ivorian full-back who has played two games in as many years! We're not going to be able to keep getting away with this.

Major risks being taken here. Does he have a history of being injury prone though? Or has he been "found out" in a more intense league?
Eddie Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 It was over before it ever began. What's the point watching "top strikers" when you refuse to spend more than £4m on any player? I agree that this window isn't going well, but I don't think we are refusing to pay over 4 million for a player, it is simply that we haven't found a player who is worth his price tag. Is Janko worth 9 million? Maybe once he has come to this league and proven himself, but as it stands he is knocking goals in, in a league that is possibly worse than the championship. At 3/4/5 million we would probably have done a deal for one of them, but I am glad to see that we aren't simply jumping in because we "have" to. What worries me more is that we haven't managed to find any other options. There are plenty of interesting prospects out there who could be brought in for under 5 million, anyone who watches a decent amount of non-English leagues knows that, so why are we so hooked on only 3 or 4 players? The questions as to why we have yet again (or at least it looks this way) failed to address central midfield, right midfield and the right back slots is a bit beyond belief.
LessThanJake Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 whether its £4m or £10m Blackburn spend, there still needs to be value for money - regardless of how much there is, Rovers cant afford to spend £10m on someone who turns out to be useless. Chucking money in and hoping doesnt work - ask Leeds and West Ham
BuckyRover Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 In the words of tony gale's mic: "I don't know who we should sign, that's the managers job. The fact he hasn't signed anybody is a disgrace. Any half decent manager with a half decent scouting team would know all the players and know exactly who we need. The fact we haven't signed anybody suggests the manager just can't cut it". Or something like that.....
donis1410 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 F*** it lets go for nolan and sign him after tonight!!!

Major risks being taken here. I wasn't aware Vogel had been injured - just hasn't been picked for the team - for some reason. If he is not going to get in the team, why keep him? Sell or loan and get him off the wage bill - same as gally - he has a less a chance of getting into sam's team, even if RSC is sold.

Bennisfromheaven Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Nicko, I know that you are a well connected & respected journalist who always strives for the truth but i was just wondering, are you finding it easier or harder to find out information regarding Rovers since Sam has taken over? It was documented that the camp was full of leaks under Ince & Sparky kept his cards close to his chest! So are you getting what you want, being led on a wild goose chase, hitting a brick wall or is there just very little of interest going on?
roversmad95 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 says in the sun bolton have given a trial to zoro...

It was documented that the camp was full of leaks under Ince & Sparky kept his cards close to his chest! So are you getting what you want, being led on a wild goose chase, hitting a brick wall or is there just very little of interest going on? Flattery will get you everywhere... The truth is that you can still get information if you keep chasing long enough. It was mental in Ince's brief reign because of some of the stories that were NOT printed. Sparky's time was more subdued but still with some highs when it came to stories. Souey's was simply epic because he was a character. Sam has only been here for a while and hopefully most of the things he has tried has reached my ears. There's probably a lot that hasn't too, to be fair. You are only as good as your contacts in the end. says in the sun bolton have given a trial to zoro... Bolton don't know anything about it. Think they are telling the truth. Says a lot that there is a fuss about someone who doesn't even play much... Worldwide shortage of talent.
