Calm down and stop shouting. We don't get many exciting signings now full stop. However, we do get some that improve our squad which Warnock and savage certainly were. Bentley wasn't that exciting when we brought him in, just potentially so. I don't want excitement. I want players who can do the job we want them to do every week without getting injured as soon as someone walks past them. I'd settle for a couple like that now just to freshen the squad up and give us something different to watch and the opposition something different to think about. I'm not expecting miracles, but i would like something.

You have to shout sometimes, to be heard. Plus without Abbey around it has gone a bit quiet.

My point is that we have had nothing. Signing Givetis not going to improve our squad significantly. Ince made a better go of improving the squad. I envisaged that Sam and his backroom scouting network would have a lot of players in the pipeline. I get the impression that something may be wrong financially. Did the trust invest all its money in Iceland?

No. We just had a very large overdraft to pay off. Probably still have one. Accounts should be online in the next 3 days. That's where the money goes to.

I thought with your successful career you would understand things like that?

Why is everybody trying to ******* argue with me all the time??

ROBBIE SAVAGE IS NOT EXCITING.

NOR IS A LIVERPOOL RESERVE STEVEN WARNOCK!

SAVAGE WAS SIGNED IN 2006. HARDLY RECENT!!

What about Dunny in 2007, we've done alright in January.

It's more important we keep the current squad together, were good enough to stay up, we can add to it in the summer when players are not so overpriced. I couldn't care less if Roque left on a free in the summer as long as we stay up now, especially not to make bloody City better.

BuckyRover - I agree with most of your points and I think we're singing off the same hymn-sheet, but I still think you're coming across as a bit of a prat.

Just my opinion like. You don't have to jump to your own defense every time an alternative point of view is aired, and maybe have a messageboard holiday for a bit eh?

Malk - Top post fella :tu:

And didn't someone do a list a couple of days ago showing that really nobody much has signed anyone to make us go wow or even "we could have had him". Bullard might have been a possible but with his injury record and the fact that he reportedly wanted big wages it's probable he wasn't even that good a signing. As I said I'd love us to make a decent signing or two but if we don't then we won't be much worse off than most teams. Interesting that calve is reputedly going to Lorient. shows his standard really because although I support Lorient and watch them as often as I can i have to say that most of their players are championship level at best although they have drawn twice with Lyon this season.

I am not sure if I can comprehend that. We "probably" still have an overdraft? Way above my head.

It was my understanding that we owed 20 mill.

I doubt that the P&L shows a profit of 20 mill so we're still down I guess.

And, Bryan, you managed to understand that without shouting about having the "fantastic career and salary" that Bucky keeps on about.

You are quite right, by the way. We had an overdraft of £21m. I don't believe even with all the sales we will have cleared that. Hence we're looking to sell Santa for £15m+ and buy someone around £7m. And the difference WON'T be used to reduce ticket prices.

Nor should it be. we already have some of the lowest ticket prices and if prices go too low people think it must be a rubbish product and don't want to buy anyway. I know tickets are expensive if unlike me you don't have a job or have to worry about job security but they are still wellpriced. I'd rahter our club was as debt free as possible.

Bucky, you need to calm down, at the end of the day this is just a MB and there is no point getting worked up about things.

I am full of optimism at the moment where Rovers are concerned, four games ago things looked desperate, we were 5 points of safety, inferior goal difference and looking into the abyss. Since then we have moved out of the relegation zone and seen the team on the field actually look like it knows what it is doing, Our out of form strikers (Roberts and McCarthy) have been transformed and long term injured players such as Grella and Dunn have returned, so I would say that all in all January has been pretty amazing.

As for transfers, Roque is still here and there is no point signing players who are unknown quantities (ie the Egyptian). Of course it would be great if we could sign a right winger and attacking midfielder but these players must improve on what we have already, there is no point signing a player who is not going to improve the team. I know the argument is that Grella and Dunn are injury prone but I have everything crossed that we do not lose both to injuries at the sametime again this season.

My opinion (for what it is worth) is that we will see a couple of new players coming prior to the window closing (regardless of Roque staying or going). We have seen Sam urging caution and I agree with this approach, there is no point in shouting from the rooftops that he has money to spend and is looking for players, all that achieves is to inflate prices. I am sure that John Williams and his team are working tirelessly in the background to help Sam strengthen the squad and if this process takes until 11.59pm on Monday so be it.

The important thing at the moment is to concentrate on what is happening on the pitch because Rovers over the next 4 days face to crucial games against teams who are going to be involved in the relegation dog fight and if we are going to make things easier for ourselves then we must collect 4 points.

I hope Santa stays regardless of price offered. It's obvious BS can't find anyone near the quality of Santa otherwise things would have moved forwards. Stick with Santa, he'll have to play well to get his move in the Summer although to be fair to him, he says he's still happy here regardless.

Everything else is a bigger risk than keeping him.

There's a top Hungarian kid at Rovers right now...full details in the 11 o'clocker [depending on the Wigan traffic].

The lad plays on either wing and is quite well-rated. But a squad man to start with, by the sounds of it.

There may be more going on right now than we imagine, some bizarre leads to work on right now.

The Derbs tip earlier is intriguing.

Agree. I'd rather the club have a viable future than prices being even lower.

if the derbs rumours is true, does this mean we might be trying to bring olympicos's right back in as part of the deal. sorry forgot name!!

DERBS - all I can find out is that Olympiacos have been chasing Premier League strikers for the past few days, but I don't think they have much money...they want someone on loan...unless they show the dough this will be a hard deal to do...the swap is intriguing but I have no word on that.

It should be obvious how serious this is around 7pm tonight.

i would be very sad to see derbs go - especially on loan. what happends if mccarthy/santa/robers get injured/suspended

he is always a threat when he comes off the bench, and can't be drawing too much in wages
