thenodrog Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I felt physically sick reading that. I hated Andy Todd with a passion - A thug in every way. But I forgave it. I couldn't stand Robbie Savage - A primadonna workman with delusions of grandeur. But I let it pass. I believe Sam Allardyce is responsible for creating the most boring, ugly teams in living memory. But I'll give him the benefit of the doubt until I see it at Blackburn. But El-Hadj Diouf in a Rovers shirt? If that happens they'll be one more empty seat at Ewood. I like all of those 3. Proper players / proper men who'll not let you down when the going gets tough. If you chuck it in next season with BRFC can I recommend BRFC Ladies?

DasGelb Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Pogrebnyak is a fantastic striker. I watched him a lot in last year´s UEFA-cup. He far exceeds Pavlyuchenko´s ability. He is good in the air, very strong and has a cracking shot. He´s not very pacey, though. I very much doubt we are that heavily involved with Zenit as their chairman claims. They seem to be impossible to do deals with. Their president have stated all week that they have reached an agreement with Arsenal over Arshavin, but Gunners categorically denies it. Is this how they push the price of their players upwards? I would love to be wrong, but I can´t see this one happening.
BRFC1995 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 bit special if this one comes off! ain't taking nothing for granted though until he puts the shirt on, this guy is a really big deal and it almost seems surreal that it could happen. I like this approach to deals of not doing it through the media ala "arry", clearly man city ain't gonna userp us here so as long as spuds and everton keep their noses out we are good. In Sam we Trust
PAFELL Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 The credit crunch has not affected Manchester City which is why their offer for Roque HAS to be taken seriously. One way or another that cash will never pass this way again... If Roque does not move in this window he probably never will. Look at the 'big spenders' list this month - City and Spurs top it, the rest are nowhere. If Rovers could find a replacement it would be great business. Totally agreed. This credit crunch is here for awhile. It is best to cash in now. With or without RSC Rovers will not be relegated. I believe there are worse teams around than Rovers in the prem, WBA, Stoke, Newcastle, Boro and even Pompey are in free fall. There is always the possibility any player could get injured, but Macarthy and Roberts are the ones scoring the goals under Sam. With a n other and Derbyshire, Rovers will score goals. They have improved the defending under Sam and that in it self was a big issue.
DeadlyDirk Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I have a few questions about Pronbrnyk or however you spell it? 1. How do you pronounce his name? 2. What sort of player is he? 3. Is he any good? I think other clubs will be in for him though. Pog-Reb-Nee-Yak (Or something like that I think.) He's a powerful target man type of striker, not too different from Pavlchenko at Spuds, pretty good player, could flop in the premiership, could turn out to be better than Roque, you never know really! Definitely a decent pedigree though. I'm a big fan.
thenodrog Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Going unbeaten for a whole month?? Unbeaten in nearly two months. Compare that to what went before with the plonker you preferred. btw Bucky why do you keep trying to make a #### of yourself with ever more stupid and ridiculous statements? Iguess its just a wind up to provoke reaction but why do you do it?
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Sounds like Zenit would like to sell him, but it all comes down to the player and he wants to go. According to the SSN report on their website Bolton and Everton couldn't agree terms with the player. This could tie in with his reported comments to the media saying he wants to stay at Zenit. My gut feeling is that our bid will be accepted but he will turn us down. This isn't a great source i know but according to this will go for Milan Jovanovic if the Pogrebnyak move falls through: http://www.clubcall.com/blackburn-rovers/r...nds-848500.html
Hi Mack Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 If you look on news now theres news from all over europe about our "apparent" bid for Pogreuhwduwnhdisky! BELIEVE!
thenodrog Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Why is everybody trying to ******* argue with me all the time?? ROBBIE SAVAGE IS NOT EXCITING. NOR IS A LIVERPOOL RESERVE STEVEN WARNOCK! SAVAGE WAS SIGNED IN 2006. HARDLY RECENT!! err and just how many January's have there been since Brains? Did the trust invest all its money in Iceland? You can write and ask them. Good luck.
my_name_is_Earl Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 It would be interesting to hear Nicko's side of the story on this one and also a comment from Rovers on the deal. I've seen Pogrebnyak play a few times and he looks like a very decent acquisition on those displays. However, being a Rovers fan and with our scrooge-like mentatily with transfer fees, I remain cynical..................would love to be proved wrong though

Iguess its just a wind up to provoke reaction but why do you do it? Not that I was an Ince fan, but how many sides in the top 10 have we played in those 2 months? To my mind, Allardyce has a lot to prove in the next few days before this window shuts. Even with the current "run" of results, had Ince overseen such a lack of activity there would be about 25 threads calling for his head.
LeChuck Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Why is everybody trying to ******* argue with me all the time?? Three other people that I can remember everyone wanted to argue with: WestSussexRover Lofty Vinjay Spotted any similarities there?
novella Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 If we did bid and the deal went through i dont think he would turn us down. The player has been quoted as saying he would like move to the premier league. we could offer him a place in the starting 11.
1864roverite Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I've just seen Alex McLeish in Manchester outside the Hilton, not sure what he's doing up here, maybe catching the Man City v Newcastle game? or Wigan v Liverpool? or Rovers v Bolton? named and shamed as one of the Scottish 28 perhaps ????
Doogs Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Nicko I have It from a very good source that Derbs is going to Greece, and it is a 6 month loan.
greco82 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 work with a good friend of derbyshires, told me he is definately on the way to greece now! didnt mention a club though
Backroom Tom Posted January 28, 2009 Backroom Posted January 28, 2009 These 2 rumours seem to have pickes up pace this last couple of hours, strange ones but the russian sounds good but doubt it will come off, the Derbyshire one is totally odd really but there seems to be various people hearing it and it seems a tad too random to be made up. However if Derbs and RSC went and we got the Russian we would still be one down, add diouf to that and I'd be more than happy.
Eddie Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Ah, now we get those "sources" coming out to claim there glory on a link that has already been established.
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 A loan move could be good for Derbs and the club. If he gets regular football until the end of the season it could either push him onto the next level or determine whether or not he has something to offer. I personally think he has the talent but has clearly stagnated, playing week in week out could get him back on track. If Derbs goes on loan then who would we bring in, in the short-term?

budha Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 If Derbs goes on loan then who would we bring in, in the short-term? Gally?
Eddie Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Well there's a balance. There has been an obvious upturn in results since Allardyce has taken charge, but there are still also huge points of concern when it comes to the nature of some of the performances.
Backroom Tom Posted January 28, 2009 Backroom Posted January 28, 2009 Would prefer Lita / Camara or diouf over Gally
BuckyRover Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Unbeaten in nearly two months. Compare that to what went before with the plonker you preferred. btw Bucky why do you keep trying to make a #### of yourself with ever more stupid and ridiculous statements? Iguess its just a wind up to provoke reaction but why do you do it? Stupid and ridiculous statements? See Ask Admin and your views on Robert Mugabe. I didn't prefer Ince, I wanted to give him a go. I didn't see the point of appointing a manager and then sacking him straight away without giving him a chance. I said I wanted him out if we didn't beat Wigan. Look what happened. I also said when Ince got sacked, that I wanted Allardyce as manager. Stop flogging a dead horse all the time, yes you were right about Ince. I think somebody made you a Blue Peter badge earlier. Maybe you should wear that and try not to mention that you got something right. Is it that surprising?
