RibbleValleyRover Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Out of interest have we been linked to any olympiakos players in the past? maybe a loan for a loan type deal going down? In November we were linked to their right back Vasilis Torosidis (recently linked to Celtic, Newcastle and some other clubs)... Perhaps we have done a deal where we have paid a small fee for Torosidis and allowed Derbs to go on loan there until the end of the season.

Sam would be living up to his reputation with that.
hawkiiz Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 for what its worth Pogrebnyak's stats on FM is pretty good. Great finisher and on the head. also he is very strong, great stamina and work rate. could be a killer signing IMO. http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h108/hawkiiz/Bilde5-1.png

beerwins Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 And if you do want to play it , dont sign him for rovers like i did, it took him half a season to settle in and even longer to score
Tim Southampton Rover Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Nicko, is it true that Man City have put a final bid in for Rocky today?
hawkiiz Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 For the benefit of those who have never played it, but are strangley still interested enough to wonder, those numbers are out of 20. oh. yes 1-20. anything with a bright blue is great his stats are pretty much equal to rocky, but this one is much better physically. if we get him for 6-7m i'd be overjoyed!
rebelmswar Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Does anyone know how much Bolton and Everton offered for Pogrebnyak? I feel here that Santa is definitely on his way out as all these stories coming out only point to his exit.

I feel here that Santa is definitely on his way out as all these stories coming out only point to his exit. some everton fans' site stated 8,5m euros and that they had/were about to offer a 4 year deal. im really excited about this, but the Pavel seems to be one of those (like santa) who do best if they get great crosses in.

ffan Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 from bbc sport live updates - "1940: Blackburn team news on the way, but reports just coming in say Rovers are closing in on the signing of Zenit St Petersburg's Russian striker Pavel Pogrebnyak. Which suggests, you'd have to say, that Roque Santa Cruz is on his way out of Ewood Park. "
philipl Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Balázs Dzsudzsák? I had been chuckling away at the bucky stick the rest and fell of my chair when I saw that. (reverse Waggy-ism there) Yes I know he's real- I just had this mental image of bucky spitting that into his executive cup of coffee. Let's leave bucky alone and get back to the intelectual stuff, I cannot see how anyone could have any problem pronouncing Павел Викторович Погребняк. Might be marginally more use than a mound of £1 coins in the goalmouth. A word to bucky- you reap what you sow- as the old saying goes. To the best of my knowledge, there has not been one word against Ince on this MB which has not been 100% true and as nicko has said, there is a lot worse which would just be gratuitously damaging to the Rovers if it came out now. Yet bucky and the paulettes aggressively stymied all debate when they felt they were in the ascendancy during the Ince Age (and bloody cold it was too). So tough titty. Calm down and rejoin the real world.
Flopsy Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I've just asked *NAME DROP ALERT* Jonathan Wilson who said Pogrebnyak is very good: he's like Pavlyuchenko, only younger, a touch slower, a touch better at holding the ball up, and a very, very good finisher. In Russia, where defenders aren't up your arse. But I'd pay 8-10m for him.

At least he should be good at picking up litter.
budha Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Google translated page, but the message seems clear: The agent forward Zenit and the Russian national team Pavel Pogrebnyak Oleg Artemov commented on the information that his client until the end of the winter transfer period, may join the ranks of "Blackburn." "Paul is not going in Blackburn." This clearly - Artyomov said Wednesday in an interview with the correspondent Chempionat.ru "Oleg Lysenko. - We have already discussed with him the issue and came to the unanimous opinion that this is - not the level of Pogrebniak. Artyomov: Pogrebniak not go in Blackburn. " Не его уровень Not his level

Bennisfromheaven Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Just on sky sports that Derbs is going on loan to Olympiacos & having a medical today!
hawkiiz Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Google translated page, but the message seems clear: Artyomov: Pogrebniak not go in Blackburn. " Не его уровень Not his level huh. that doesnt look good. but still its 1 source saying he wont come and a million telling the opposite. on the other hand.. if he is watching todays match, i understand he is keeping well clear.
budha Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 huh. that doesnt look good. but still its 1 source saying he wont come and a million telling the opposite. Well, the sources quoted in English media were Zenit's representatives yesterday(?) and this is Pogrebnyak's agent today in Russia..
adbo99 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Nicko, No sturridge or NZogbia in the respective 18man squads today, even though they played the weekend.......... whats happening with them?? On the move you think?
ffan Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Ian Paine on SSN said Zenit confirmed that Arshavin and another player, believed to be Progbynek, were talking to Premiership clubs.
LessThanJake Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 everywhere getting on the Pogrebnyak story now, would be a good signing for Rovers. N'Zogbia's been linked with Villa I think, not sure if he's an O'Neill type though.
novella Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Yeah sky sports basically confirming that zenith have claimed that they are close to selling another player. This was right after a report on the blackburn match.
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Been talking to a few non Rovers supporting friends of mine who have seen him play, especially in the Uefa Cup and they reckon he is far better than Pavlyuchenko. It looks like he has all the attributes to do well in the prem, tall, strong, good in the air and the deck.
