ffan Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 He sounded pretty certain that he is staying. There was also talk of Rovers bringing in a defensive midfielder who plays for top, top side in Spain. I will not say who it is but he plays for a team who are currently in the top 4 of La Liga. It's not Sammy from Valencia is it?

1864roverite Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 After the supposed news that Dunny is sidelined for the season, surely the prioroties have changed to a Central Midfielder/creative player rather than a striker. Kamy, have you heard the same about DD ? Also, present in one of the boxes were reps from Villa and Stoke City.
LessThanJake Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Sunny, you mean? Also, present in one of the boxes were reps from Villa and Stoke City. Villa play Rovers soon, so that's probably all that is
ffan Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Sunny, you mean? Yeah, him. Portsmouth failed to sign him, so Sam probably picked him up at a guess.
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 It's not Sammy from Valencia is it? Sunny? On loan from Valencia, currently at bottom of the table with Osasuna. Good call, weren't Pompey linked to him recently?
Veevs Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Derbyshire is on a plane to Athens as we speak!Flew from London this Evening! I really want to know who the lad coming in is! 1) he has to be better than Derbs 2) Has to be good enough to replace RSC if a ridiculous offer comes in for him! Not sure what to make of Sams comments.. part about Pavel was not on sky sports.. but he did make it clear Derbs was only going if his replacement is signed tomorrow (so discussions must be ongoing already)... and RSC was defo not going. I probably jumped the gun a little thinking that the replacement was Pavel lol.. must remember not to get over excited lol
simcla Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Is this the mystery hungarian? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Szabolcs_Huszti says he can play attacker or winger, derbs replacement?
nicko Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 This might be worth the wait. ROQUE - Amazingly there is a rival bidder and an auction. Spurs have come in and are willing to pay £20 million. No kidding. Stunned. Spurs want to outbid Man City and get the player to join them. The snag - as it was with City - is that Rovers want to get a replacement. The price has suddenly gone up. So that might mean it is easier to find a new striker. DERBYSHIRE - Shocked, but there you go. Surprised it is a loan at first before a money deal. DERBYSHIRE REPLACEMENT - It could be the Russian but he isn't fit which makes it stranger still. And what is the fee? ANOTHER STRIKER - Been watched tonight. HUNGARIAN - It's the kid who was with Newcastle last week but opted to leave them. Shrewd judge. Name of Andras Gosztonyi. Masses of other tales. Real Madrid are in the country and making an offer for Valencia at Wigan. Benitez has been talking some terrible nonsense tonight...no sign of Keane leaving...Spurs have obviously got another target. Leaving it at that until the morning.
Fylde Coast Fan Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I wondered about Spurs and Roque - an auction makes it very interesting, though I think if Hughes has the approval he'll go higher to make sure he gets him. If we get more than 15 for Roque, would that put Janko back in play, or is he just "too expensive for what he is"?
blue and whites Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 so nicko, the zenit striker might still be on? and have olympiacos agreed a future fee for buying derbs?

Not sure I would sell to Spurs, especially when you consider their way of paying for a player (full of incentives, instalments etc.) Plus I’m not sure Roque would want to go there, with all the comments he has been making towards City its clear he has huge respect for Hughes and that’s a big factor in wanting to go there. And there is the small factor that I hate Spurs with a passion... I guess when big gob 'Arry' starts saying how great a player Santa Cruz is we know he is up to his usual tapping up routine and the interest in signing him is there.
bennyboyt11 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Selling to fellow relegation rivals... no way.
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Selling to fellow relegation rivals... no way. That didn't stop us from selling Bentley to a rival, a move i was totally against.
bennyboyt11 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 That didn't stop us from selling Bentley to a rival, a move i was totally against. We weren't scrapping out of the relegation zone though were we...
dr_awol Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 what the hell is going on? been away waching a 10-11 penalty shootout :-(, and derbs is away and cruzs is gonna cost 20m + now. seams the transfare window is about to start for rovers

Plastic Head Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Derbyshire is on a plane to Athens as we speak! I think his woeful effort in the 4th minute of injury time against City has affected Sam somewhat. It certainly affected me.... Anyway....can we put Andrews on a slow boat to China..... The Titanic perhaps. Seriously though....does no-one want the useless terd?
Bennisfromheaven Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Well at least if he goes to spurs we know hes going to be crap!!
novella Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 hmmm so we can get 5 million more than we were expecting in this window. Get the impression he will be sold now.
Eddie Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 10 million plus Bentley and they have a deal In how many languages can you say "no thanks"?
Hi Mack Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 In how many languages can you say "no thanks"? Probably the same as you can say yes please!
donis1410 Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 very interesting indeed.......I wonder if the midfielder is yaya toure, lol, doubt it!!!!!!!!!!!
Grabbi Graeme Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 We should sign this bloke because he once played for a team called "Tom Tomsk" . At least he should be good at picking up litter. Tom Tomsk, is that not a Russian Sat Nav
