ROQUE - Amazingly there is a rival bidder and an auction. Spurs have come in and are willing to pay £20 million.

If Rovers want an auction they should try and get Rafa involved too. Torres looked well off-form tonight and Keane is at the wrong club. I reckon Roque could be massive for Liverpool and he would be available for the Champions League.

Wouldnt surprise me 1 bit if spuds just doing it to throw a spanner in the works for city, wasnt there a bit of ill feeling over the palacios deal? man city never really wanted to sign him but im sure it didnt help spuds come to a an agreement over a price with wigan.

Interesting possibilities in terms of swap deals with Spurs.

I am a fan of Huddlestone but he just does not seem like the kind of player we need right now. Jenas, although I have big reservations about his ability to tackle and fight, could fit into the side and would be a massive improvement on Andrews. Bentley is a player we need - but I sincerely doubt he would fancy coming back. Bent has talent but I can't see how we would play him in the current set up. Plus I think his wages are enormous.

All in all the only one of those four I could see actually fancying a move to Rovers is Huddlestone. But I cannot see where he fits in with Grella already in the side. Jenas perhaps - but he hardly seems Allerdyce's type...

dont think i would mind jenas he has decent pace and can split defences maybe 15 mil plus jenas would be a good deal as long as we got the right replacment even more so now as derb has gone

Didn't see this as I shot out at FT but my lad, who was in the BBE, made the same remark. Watching last night I found myself thinking about the lack of signings, sadly one thought I had was this "what quality player would want to play in our current side / come to Ewood?" We have fallen a long way and I suspect the lack of transfer activity has as much to do with our performances as anything else.

The idea of swapping RSC for a couple of Spurs makes me smile. London is a big draw so lets be realistic. Huddlestone swapping Spurs for Rovers? I don't think so. One can imagine a City player coming but not any from the south.

I heard at the game last night that Rovers are looking at bringing in Mahmadou Diarra from Real Madrid, he has not figured much this season and could be available, whether he wants to join Rovers of course could be another matter. Allardyce must like players named "Diarra" as also heard that we are looking at former Liverpool player Alou Diarra.
