tony gale's mic Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Actually scratch that: http://www.goal.com/en/news/1711/chelsea/2...r-yacht-reports Just shows the mentality of these owners that they would choose a yacht over one of the best football clubs in the world currently - shows how much of a plaything our Premier League clubs are to these people.

den Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Diouf doesn't score goals, starts arguments in an empty room and had his team-mates at his throat for his lack of effort and his manager keeping him out of away games. Yeah, sounds ideal to me... The point is Rovers have money and a competent manager. So hopefully you will give Diouf a body swerve. In ideal times Nicko, we would give Diouff a miss. These aren't ideal times though. We have both said it, - rovers will struggle to bring in quality on a permanent basis while we're at the bottom of the league. Loans are the way forward, but whether Sam can work something out in January along those lines, maybe even he doesn't know at this stage. So, there has to be room for someone of Diouff's undoubted talent at Ewood, even if it's only insurance against failures in other attempts at bringing in the right people? I wouldn't say spend the entire transfer window chasing him if it's not nailed on, because we can't afford to waste time, but if he's available now and cheap, then go for it - wouldn't you say?
mark Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 The point is Rovers have money and a competent manager. can you hint as to how much?
philipl Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 can you hint as to how much? £10m without selling- Nicko posted that a few pages back.

LeChuck Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Hunt's loan spell at Birmingham ended early. One of the first things I said when Allardyce came was that it wouldn't surprise me to see Hunt come with him, so this piece of news caught my eye. I know it says in that article that it's because Bolton have injuries, but that could easily be a smokescreen to an impending sale? If he came in as the 'proper right back' and Simpson was sent packing then I think we'd be better for it. He's virtually a personification of the 'solid yet unspectacular' cliché, I don't think he would have made the two mistakes Ooijer did that cost us two points against City.
Bobby G Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 This is what I fear will happen with our transfers. We sell Roque for 18m and end up having only 10m to use for transfers, making the original pot irrelevant, and presenting another case of disappearing money raised from sales, as has been the case for many many years...
Bobby G Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Absolutely nothing in the papers for us other than Roque to City for 18 million and yesterdays lift off from here regarding Luis Garcia. Otherwise all quiet whilst almost all other clubs are being linked to players.

alexanders Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Thats how the Rovers normally play it, keep your cards close to your chest until the deal is done! I think that's where we are now, but wasn't under Ince's regime. Someone was talking. As for Nicko - do you have any idea about the egyptian trialists and norwegian reginiussen? I think according to Ffan that Woy is interested. He seems to love scandinavians. About Roman - Oil billionaire and investor. Considering the downfall on both the stocks and the oil prize I can see a bit up of financial issues emerging for Chelsea. Sell before buys etc.
Hughesy Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 It does mention in the Mail that Roque will be gone to City by the end of the week - we shall see.
Majiball Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Julio Cruz is free to leave Inter. Snap him up, quality player. I have to get across to Italy they seem to be able to keep old dogs playing forever, what do they feed them? Maldini's still going at 99 or something amazing, they even reckon Beckham has another 5 years at the top. nicko any truth in Roman losing over 80% of his money and its come down to a choice of selling his yatch or Chelsea, according to Russian media reports? And that he has sounded out potential buyers? It says the Chelsea players now pay for their own lunches! ROFLMAO, down to his last 2 Billion, how on earth has he lost so much??? Ah well Drogba's to join Mourinho and chelsea to miss out on champions league, now that would make me smile. What odds the Arabs that wanted Liverpool take Chelsea instead. Anyways back on Topic: NICKO couple of questions. 1.) If we sell RSC to city how much of his contract will we have to pay up since he's not officially handed in a request? 2.) Should Derby owners accidentally ingest a hallucinogen and appoint Ince will we get any of our pay-off back since he's found a new job?
broadsword Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 ROFLMAO, down to his last 2 Billion, how on earth has he lost so much??? Maybe all tied up in shares, who knows? Without Roiman's money to pay the bills, they'll be back to where they were before Roman took over, ie, up the shiznit!

We sell Roque for 18m and end up having only 10m to use for transfers, making the original pot irrelevant, and presenting another case of disappearing money raised from sales, as has been the case for many many years... Took the words out of my mouth. If it were the case that Sam had all that money on top of the original kity then, yes, I would sell Roque. But, inevitably, of the, say, £18m we might get for him, I can imagine 75% of that being swallowed by the club.

Without Roiman's money to pay the bills, they'll be back to where they were before Roman took over, ie, up the shiznit! Yes they will and what lesson can we all take from this: Yes thats right kids its true crime does not pay!!!!! Surely if Roman deserts them the only way is down, unless another arab fancies a play-toy. I'm just waiting for the next one to get involved. Bobby, TCJ If our club swallows the RSC money I'm gonna lose it we need every penny of that fee just to survive. Its only a matter of time if this is the route our club wishes to go down before we do exactly that.

Nothing gets "swallowed up" or "hidden" Contrary to some people's beliefs.
Lathund Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Julio Cruz is free to leave Inter. 6 months left on his contract so he wouldnt cost much. Always rated him. Arguably got better feet than Roque and is equally as good in the air. He is 34 though. Built for this league. Would be worth it just to be able to play a 4-3-3 with Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz and Cruz up front. Two of them are called Julio as well. I've always thought he looked good; If Santa was to leave he'd be a good option in the short term at least. Another name if we're talking short-term striker signings... Henrik Larsson. Now that's someone who doesn't age. His contract with Helsingborg expires in a couple of weeks, and while he hasn't yet made a decision on his future he's still quality. He's spent the Swedish offseason playing floorball in the best floorball league in the world, so I don't think fitness would be much of a problem.
Iceman Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 2 Julio's up front? I take it you mean Roque and not his brother who is named Julio. Anyway, that Julio Cruz has always impressed me,but im sure he will land up at a club like Olympiakos or Hamburg.
John Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Thats how the Rovers normally play it, keep your cards close to your chest until the deal is done! That's what I thought last January as well...... Recently, it has only been major outgoing deals for us. IMO, we should not sell Santa unless we have a replacement lined up.
Danish Villan Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Glad to see that you believe in Villa Nicko :-) Keep betting on us!
Bazzanotsogreat Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 To cover the operational costs that arent met elsewhere? Nothing gets "swallowed up" or "hidden" Contrary to some people's beliefs. WE have just made a 7m operating profit.
tcj_jones Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 To cover the operational costs that arent met elsewhere? Nothing gets "swallowed up" or "hidden" Contrary to some people's beliefs. Do you have to bother pulling me up on semantics? It's not as if I think that John Williams and the trustees are going to secretly sneak the money into their back pockets or something.
T4E Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 To cover the operational costs that arent met elsewhere? Nothing gets "swallowed up" or "hidden" Contrary to some people's beliefs. So, swallowed up by operational costs, then? He didn't say anything about "hidden". WE have just made a 7m operating profit. Does that include money made on transfers? So basically the money we got for Bentley that we didn't spend is what has enabled us to show a profit?
Hughesy Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Would the Bentley money not be included in next years figures?? If not then thats poor! How much debt did we have, and what do we have now??
RevidgeBlue Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 So, swallowed up by operational costs, then? He didn't say anything about "hidden". Does that include money made on transfers? So basically the money we got for Bentley that we didn't spend is what has enabled us to show a profit? John Williams stated in the summer that in light of the new TV money we were on course to make a 4m operating profit and that was after paying off 3m worth of losses from the previous year and exclusive of any sales. We must also have been about 4m up on the summer transfer dealings even if there was a 50% sell on clause on Bentley.
