As stated before about Diouf, we have had Bellamy, Todd etc who have come with plenty of baggage.

Lets judge the player on what he does for Blackburn Rovers FC. If Sam thinks that he can improve the squad (which I think he can) then surely we should support the player and manager in his decision?

This and the post about supporting the team above the individuals are both spot on.

Sam worked with Diouf for some time at Bolton, he probably knows him better than anyone else in English football. I'll back his judgement all day long on things like these, just as I did with Hughes.

for Darren bent + 5 million i would without doubt rather keep santa cruz! The guy is class! in fact i want to keep him anyway, hearing megson last night comment on how we could bring a 20million striker off the bench filled me with joy & optimism that we will escape relegation!

I have to agree, i just hope the board stand firm and keep Roque at least until the summer.

Diouf will be a class signing!!

Big Sam knows how to play him since the Bolton days and he's a pacy winger! Exactly what we need.

Tricky? Yes. Pacy? By no means.

I do rate him though, just not at £3.5 million pounds.

Nicko - what about a swap RSC - Pavlyuchenko...or do Spuds want to keep him now? Would be great with Pavlyu and Pogrebnyak upfront for us :)

When Roque came on last night he changed the game. Every ball played into him sticks to his feet, he's so composed on the ball and gets a lot of flick ons. Even if a team offered £20m i would say no as we would not get a replacement of the same quality.

Lets get one thing straight - Darren Bent is crap.

That's a bit of a sweeping statement.

Darren Bent has a very good goal record in the premiership and has pretty much been top scorer at his club every season. At worst I would call him over priced, but he is not "crap".

Without a doubt.

We unfortunately do not have the coin purse to say no to big money. It has been the tale for years now, we find them polish them and a more wealthy club buys them from us. We are the used car salesmen of football, but our product is normally quality. We just have to hope that Big Sam has the same eye in this months auction.

Wish everyone would stop talking about swaps for players, its not going to happen is it.

Finally, someone who understands!

There is never a swap deal in football, presuming its because of the agent fees and stuff involved, but not too sure.

Those people that keep banging on about swapping players, can you give me an example of the last time a PL club had a swap deal? I can't think of one. Before you say Ashley Cole and Gallas, they were 2 separate deals!

You like watching championship football then DIRK because if we kept hold of Ince that is were we would be playing our fooball next season, at least under Sam we have a chance of staying up and if that means signing Diouf then so be it.

And how, in God's name, is Diouf the difference between Premiership and Championship football? Just because he had a good spell at his former club?

I'd understand maybe if we were talking about Christiano Ronaldo, but how people have gotten it into their heads that Diouf is the messiah is beyond me.

I'll ask again. did I say I'd boo him. NO

NO YOU DID NOT, you said you may be tempted to boo for the first time a rovers player. Being tempted to do something and doing it are not the same.

Though I hope you curb your temptations and get behind who ever plays for Rovers. Diouf as a person / horrible creature or whatever. I am more concerned about what he can do on the football pitch. What he could provide fro the team. Yes he is also a diver - but if he dived and got rovers a penalty or free kick and this resulted in a goal, would any of us boo? Would we still cheer the goal if he scored one, especaially the winning goal. If we did we would get some funny looks and comments from fellow supporters!!!!!!!!!

I would call him crap:

Darren Bent's crap.

Of ALL the players we've been linked with this month, if someone had asked me to name the two worst possible signings for right-wing and Roque-replacement, I would have chosen El-Hadji Diouf and Darren Bent.

But let's get something straight - Diouf is a replacement for Derbyshire, who looks like moving for £2.5m.... So who was the replacement for David Bentley after he moved for £15m six months ago?

Farce.

we are Blackburn Rovers not Manchester United incase you have forgotten. Diouf will help the squad, i am not saying he a superstar or something but he is better then what we have got now on the right wing.

Probably the same way the Geordies think Keegan is The Messiah :P

He would be a good addition to the squad no doubt bout that, we've all seen his technical abilities on the pitch. However, it's off the pitch that concerns most the fans. If Sam can get him to play like he did with Bolton, then surely he has to be an asset to our club. We accepted Bellamy and Savage, Diouf just falls into the same category.

Nicko, any truth in Bendtner being sold to fund the Arshavin deal. If that is true he would be a decent replacement for Roque. He's got PL experience and could fit into our squad nicely.

The difference is he is the type of player we currently do not have & will help create the goals that will keep us in the league, name one other player we have (realistically) been linked with for the position on the right of midfield that has the experience or talent of Diouf? Im not a fan of the guy by any means but i have no doubt that he will improve the squad!

So you just assume that there are decent £5/6m right wingers lying around do you? you just think that because Sam may have a bit of cash that there are no reasons for us not to get a direct replacement for Bentley?

Its January, no teams are going to be letting decent players go for little money. Diouf is prob the best we could get in this window and is a semi decent player who on his day is certainly of more use than Derbyshire.

What about Bentley and 10 million? That wouldnt be the worse deal, especially if we use the cash to get Pogrebnyak or Janko...?

Bentley returning to rovers would make him the laughing stock of the rest of the squad. It would not surprise me if he burnt a few bridges at rovers during his want a way time.

Anyway. why take somebody back who didn't have a decent word to say about rovers when he left.

Agreed.

If you don't boo your own players for diving, how's it ever going to get cut out of the game?

Did you boo last week when Benni dived for the pen against Newcastle? no? well dont be daft. Diving is a problem throughout the whole game, dont justify booing your own player because of such a weak argument.

Bendtner was going to be a very good player but has lost his way. May have something to do with those pink boots.

I would take a chance on him because he is young and has talent.

But if you are going to get £5 million more for Roque than expected you can aim for better.

You will never stamp out cheating in any sport or any other things in life - it is human nature. Cheating in sport, on the missus, another person. In one form or another we have all cheated at some stage in our lives.
