Diouf will enable Emerton to go to Right Back. This alone means that we are stronger.

Ignoring his antics, he is a good player. Lets try not to boo him like some did with Keith, eh? Come to think of it, I'm not even sure why Keith got booed. Never been in anything controversial as far as I know...

Being signed by Youknowwho is controversy enough for some

Can you accept the fact that THERE MIGHT NOT BE A PLAYER THAT IS WORTH BUYING AT THE MOMENT. You seem to think that there are Roque's and Benni's all over Europe and the only reason for why we're not getting them is that our board are not releasing the funds.

How do you know that the board are 'doing everything' to prevent the money being spent on other players when there are clearly no players out there that are worth buying. Thats not showing a lack of ambition thats just reality. Id rather we didnt throw money at average players. You seem to be a tad delluded as to who is available during the January transfer window.

I'd have thought the last 2 and a bit windows might be evidence enough.

Good Lord, I'll try again - I'm not saying that the £15m for Bentley or the (potential) £20m for Roque should be spent on "one player", but rather that it should be REINVESTED IN THE PLAYING STAFF.

The board seem to be doing everything that they can to ensure that this does not happen.

But we didn't get £15m for Bentley - not to go in Rovers' pocket anyway, a fair chunk of that had to go to Arsenal...

Wake up.

We haven't spent "big" in a lot longer than just this transfer window. It's utterly ridiculous to lose £20m worth of players then not reinvest this money in the squad. There are strikers all over Europe who could be brought in for around £10m, but - even though we're looking for them to replace a £20m striker - we refuse to go anywhere near that figure. These players may be a little over-priced (is Roque worth £20m??), but it's THE GOING RATE. Rovers have to accept it.

This reluctance to spend doesn't happen at any other club in the Premier League.

But we didn't get £15m for Bentley - not to go in Rovers' pocket anyway, a fair chunk of that had to go to Arsenal...

Semantics. With player sales and the money promised from Trustees at the start of the season, we should have at least £15m to spend even before selling Roque.

Well the transfer window has turned into another one of those so far.. looks like Sam has been ordered to balance the books.. only way to get diouf (or any right sided player) in is to reduce the wage bill by loaning out a player..

We just have to accept now that the board have had enough (not JW but the second board i.e. the trustees).. we got a daft amount of TV money with our position last season imo this should of been reinvested especially with the sale of Bentley.. especially given that in our current position we would loose near 10m in TV money compaired to last season.

We dont have a right back, we dont have a midfielder of worth who can stay off the sick list, we dont have a right mid/winger.. we got money from Hughes, Bentley, decided not to keep Carlos and invested a tiny proportion of our income this year..

Sadly its a massive risk but spending some of the cash may of helped us up the league enough positions to regain some of that 10mil.. but at the same time we are probably one of the most financially secure clubs in the league..

I do hope the window changes, but doubt if we sell RSC we will have even half of the cash to re-invest in players (we are run too much like a corporate where yearly wage budget cant be exceeded even with vast profits).. at least we are not heading in the direction of many clubs who are going bankrupt... but maybe thats the ploy to survive do ok and sell asap..

if we end up getting Givet, diouf and some other guy or two (if rocky leaves) i will be more than happy. by comparison, in the summer we almost wet our pants by the thought of Anthony Annan and the idea that Joaquin would come. ended up with fowler, andrews and an injury. this is looking quite good if you ask me!

When is this supposed to have happened? He came on as a sub on Tuesday night.

Read it in a Plymouth blog a while ago so really pleased to hear he is playing again.

Might even offer an option if he has discovered his potential is realisable when at Plymouth.

Roversmum gets it spot on in her post a few before this.

Price for Nolan believed to be £4.5 mill.

That is not a bad price IMO

Some Bolton fans I know think he is very overrated by supporters of other clubs (maybe like a Pedersen), so I'm not sure about the price.

Amen, Brother. I will never forget that goal, in fact, his performance at the Cottage.

Johnny Stead :!:

My favorite Rover. He did more than was originally asked of him, and the emotion when he scored that goal....
