i wonder how much over 9million they would ask? he would be a great signing, but im not sure he is worth spending more than 10m on?

cheers for the info nicko!

Yup, good player. Not doing so great with Pompey at the moment 'cos Adams has them playing a 4-5-1 system. So Crouch doesn't have anyone to complement his height and hold-up play.

Don't you just love the transfer window? Crouch would be a very good signing. I wonder if he would have any interest in joining us. Its crazy how both Crouch and Diouf could end up at Ewood in the next few days....strange world....strange times.....

I like Crouch, but I have noticed a tendency for players to instantly look to boot it up to him when he is in the side. Makes for quite unattractive football.

Sam wouldn't have us playing like this would he?

Rubbish with his head, has a great strike on him and ability to allow his strike partner extra space and time. If we're clearing £8m - £10m out of the deal then we have done a good deal. Only issue is the lack of goals he gets but with the right service we could be laughing.

Not convinced but we could do a lot worse than Crouch

I dont really care for a players past, it only matters what a manager can make of them, so many players have had their career boosted by a certain manager.

I hope sam gets the best out of him again, i for one dont like him but make no mistake NOW is not the time for getting on a pedestal and proclaiming hate for people like like diouf. Sure you can say you dont like him and he wont be much use but saying you are going to stop going games because of him is just childish, good luck at stanley!

GIVE THE GUY A CHANCE, if he is @#/? then let your opinions show in the summer.

Jan signings are so much different than summer ones because teams have to sign what they need not really what they want and in our situation we need him more than we need derbs.

BTW still hoping for some transfer activity in centre mid area for rovers , nicko gimme some hope pls

Just saw what nicko said and OMFG i cant believe that a city board with so much brass has let spuds come in with a better offer for rsc, just goes to show that MH still doesnt have boards support , despite bellamy winning game for them.

I think it will be a failure, then we should go for Nuggent instead !!

I cant see him bag 10 goals from noe until may !!

We really shouldn't go for Nugent!

And I'd rather fight to keep Roque than get Crouch!

I'm very positive about replacing Roque (if the offer is too good to refuse) with Crouch plus money left to spend (Giles Barnes anyone?). However, really surprised that Portsmouth still "have to sell" after banking huge money from Diarra and Defoe. Anyway I think it shows true ambition that Allardyce has Crouch as his target (who'll probably get the highest salary in Rovers' history?)! :rover:

Giles Barnes would be a good signing for Fulham, one I would have liked us to look into. Had injury trouble for a while now, but has a ton of talent.

Posted

even in a quality scouse side he managed to go 18 games without a goal, size of fee and wages .............neh.....would'nt be sorry to see this one not happen.

Posted

Just for the record, I would prefer us to keep Roque. But if his exit is inevitable in this window, then I wouldn't mind Crouchie.

Some people dont half spout some rubbish.

Crouch is a seriously decent footballer. I would love him at the Rovers, like nicko said it will be a masterstroke if we pull it off.

I'd quite like Crouch. Not bad technically and could work with Benni. He is pretty mobile, and can cause defenders trouble with his awkwardness, thus creating space for Benni. If he came for £10m and decent wages, after we make £20m+ on RSC, that would be a good deal. That would leave anything up to £10m to get a good midfielder.

...and a lot better. 9 million would surely make players like Janko and Zigic available?. Or even better than them?

I guess this is the backside of life with Sam Allardyce: being linked to 4 or 5 players every week, and 90 % of them rubbish.
