It's Crouchy's only way back into the England setup in my opinion.

Just out of curiosity why are we not looking at a 20m replacement?

Theoretically so we can buy a couple more players. Weather that happens?

NICKO - If we do sell Cruz are there other players on top of a replacement striker who we will bring in with the extra money (ie. right back and central midfield)? Or will we have to wait for the summer for that? Only three days left...

Nicko, how likely is it that Spurs will actually come in with the cash?

Spurs have the cash...made a call to Rovers on Wednesday...and want to do the deal.

The hold-up with Roque has always been over Sam finding a replacement.

Now - thanks to the fact there is an auction - he can now look at better and more expensive players.

Did someone actually say Roque wants to be at Rovers? Check the number of times he has said he wants to go...or his father's comments.

All his quotes say that he's happy here but he would rather be somewhere else. Clearly he'd rather be elsewhere and as this is the only opportunity to make silly money off him plus get a decent replacement im hoping that something will happen shortly. Up until now i wasnt convinced with the targets mentioned due to their inexperience at this level, but Crouch represents a decent bit of business if we can get £10m on top.

no. he want to play under sparky, and he think city will become a monster the next years. he could be right about them getting into champs league, but why would he want to go to spurs???

Spurs have been in since Wednesday.

The only delay is Rovers need for a replacement...

Rovers WILL bat away all Man City offers until it reaches the money Spurs are prepared to pay.

christ. he only says he want to go to city. he never mentioned anything else. and he also says he loves it at rovers. its not like benni or bentley who would go wherever.

So we become a feeder club to a scumbag club like Spurs? no thanks. Anyways Its been well publicised that most of Spurs's deals involved incentives, like so many million for the player if they reach the champions league qualification, so many goals = some more money. I find it hard to believe that they would pay the full amount of cash upfront.

I remember reading an article a long time ago after Roque scored that hatrick against Wigan saying that his family were settled in Manchester and that he had no desire to uproot them, especially to a place like London.

There could be some truth to that because in his recent comments he has more or less said if he was to move then it’s to City due to the Hughes factor. He said he is aware of interest from other clubs but from the sounds of it he isn’t interested.

I think if City’s interest ends he will turn any other moves down and stay until the summer.

As you say the article was a long time ago RVR, and things change very quickly in football.

However, correctly as you post the Manchester family aspect could be the deciding factor - possibly something Hughes is aware off and why Citeh are not exactly pushing the boat out for him.

Nicko you mentioned more expensive "players" so does that mean that we are not just lookin at PC and could be looking at others....any names? would just be interesting to see the other options? FRED lets have him!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know that Crouch is the first choice...no idea who is after him on the list...I suspect no-one.

There is no point in over-paying or bringing in someone inferior.

As far as I am aware, the payment terms are identical at present between Spurs and City but Spurs' opening bid was some £2m more than City's final bid.

Spurs are also willing to sell a forward (Bent) and give Rovers almost the run of the squad to pick another player if they want barring Jan signings, Lennon and O'Hara.

However, once bitten, twice shy- Spurs are not going to be Bellamy'ed again- do all the work only to be blown out of the water by a ko bid by City.

It is worth noting that Spurs were at £8m max on Bellamy and City paid £14m.

Therefore if City come back very late in the day, par for the course is Spurs' reported £22m+£6m. Anything less and JW is going to look a soft touch compared with the West Ham guy!

Here's hoping Rovers can concentrate on their own business in the last days of the window and not somebody else's. Roque to stay!
