LessThanJake Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 dont see why Villa would be looking for a centre back - Laursen will be back at some point, and is captain and will therefore be right back in the team - they already have Cuellar, Davies and Knight, so Richards AND Laursen to come back is far too top-heavy. Luke Young has had an excellent game any time I've been to see them play, so I dont see why they'd want a "better" right back. Young's been playing on the left because Shorey is dreadful, but Bouma is back soon so Young can revert to right back. Any big money Villa have will be spent in attacking areas I think. Richards to Arsenal is more likely in my humble opinion
hawkiiz Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 given going to city. talks are confirmed by toon website. i can really see them going down now - given out the door, N'Zogbia desperate to get away and owen injured. i'd be very worried if i supported them. we dont look to bad in comparison!
AndyNeil Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 I thought the big bad 'mods' on here promised to ban any non-rovers posters? All talk and all that ...
Flopsy Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 My mates just told me defoe's gone and bust his foot. Which might explain spuds sudden renewed interest in cruz.
LessThanJake Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 I am partly Rovers to be fair - I live in Birmingham (hence Villa), was born in Carlisle (so they're my first love) and worked in Blackburn for about 4 years which is where I met my wife. I went to watch Rovers and became fond of them. 'Supporting' 3 teams is tough Rovers over Villa by the way
T4E Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 My mates just told me defoe's gone and bust his foot. Which might explain spuds sudden renewed interest in cruz. Thats soooooooo page 270.
Shabani Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 How do you know that spurs arent lying and playing the injury down to stop them being held to ransom by clubs in the transfer market?
LessThanJake Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 will find out tomorrow I suppose. Wouldnt be in Redknapp's nature to do something underhand anyway...
Antgrad Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Because everyone would feel sorry for them and drop their values? Yeah, right. Its more likely to increase the values if they think Spurs are desperate.
hawkiiz Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Because everyone would feel sorry for them and drop their values? Yeah, right. Its more likely to increase the values if they think Spurs are desperate. exactly. any bids as late as this should be treated for what they are - desperate. of course that goes for rovers too, but the net spending for us will probably be the same as if rocky went for say 15m. its just infation. im surprised nobody came in for warnock when we signed givet though. and benni for that matter. then again i guess a lot of those potential clubs are falling apart slowly?
JonnyH Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 God that story is wooly. Even if it happens, the basis for that story is woolier than a wooly thing! Re: Villa/ Richards story
MancVillan Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 The 'pretty huge' story won't be anything to do with Villa imo. City have dominated this transfer window, and it will surround them.
T4E Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Thanks for clarifying that, we were all wondering.
Hughesy Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 City have bid for Terry rejected. Just heard City had bid accepted for Lescott apparently but he rejected the idea of moving. This true Nicko??
MancVillan Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Thanks for clarifying that, we were all wondering. No problem Tugay!
Hughesy Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Seems a good site for transfer rumours here, they even keep track of where its up to - Link here

I heard a while ago that they tried to buy Lescott and were told he's not for sale and not to make any more bids. Same with Arteta.
Fylde Coast Fan Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 If Portsmouth are skint and being linked with a £7m move for Dos Santos from Spurs, does that mean they're looking to spend the money they could get from Crouch? Sounds like a positive sign to me.
JonnyH Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Seems a good site for transfer rumours here, they even keep track of where its up to - Link here According to their countdown though the deadline is midnight on Monday. Unless I'm mistaken it's 5pm on the monday. Immediately reduces the reliability of the source of infomation. Cynical?
nicko Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 ROQUE - Man City bid is up to £18.5 million, turned down. Spurs WILL pay more. Would like to throw Darren Bent into deal, but could yet go to over £20 million cash. It's an auction all right. But Rovers need a replacement. CROUCH - My Pompey guy is good but they are keeping very quiet on this one. However I know Pompey are trying to sign TWO strikers...know their names but will keep that back. That tells me Crouch is going. The worry is someone else comes in first. Told Pompey are still in selling mode. BIGGIE - Man U are very close to sign Valencia. Real Madrid bid for him earlier today, but it is a bit complicated in terms of how they would pay. The fact Real are trying to sign Faubert - who is truly hopeless - tells me United have won. Cracking player, by the way. Checked out the Rovers interest in him from two years ago...found out it was only an inquiry, nothing more. Fair play to Wigan and Paul Jewell. They signed a gold mine there. OTHER TOSH - Newcastle are taking Ryan Taylor and swapping Charles N'Somnia...plus a lot of money to the Toon. Bolton still think they could get Veloso, but have bid for a couple of Championship players. I'll say it again...if Rovers think Diouf is their 'marquee' signing for January then they have missed a trick. Nice to see Fulham signing Barnes and the Taylor deal going through...ticking through that list. Enough for the evening. Totally knacked.
Denis_B Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Is that #charlie Nzog for Shorey and a lot of money or is he really willing to go to Wigan?
