nicko Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 QUOTE (Denis_B @ Jan 30 2009, 23:32 ) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Is that #charlie Nzog for Shorey and a lot of money or is he really willing to go to Wigan? Wigan are taking him, which means... Hunt for Spurs. Wigan could got get him. Bolton trying for Ledley. Wigan offered more, Wanderers put in a £2 million bid...how funny is that?
Hughesy Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Nicko - any truth in city bidding for lescott? They no nearer with Given? We any other targets you know of??
nicko Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Pompey want Harewood dont they? Yes, Pompey are interested in Harewood. But they are currently trying to sign TWO better strikers. I am seriously needing matchsticks for my eyelids. Got to go.
Guest Kamy100 Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Sky Sports News reporting that Portsmouth are in talks with Tottenham striker Giovanni Dos Santos. Fee has been agreed with Tottenham.
brian_gallagher85 Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 CROUCH - My Pompey guy is good but they are keeping very quiet on this one. However I know Pompey are trying to sign TWO strikers...know their names but will keep that back. That tells me Crouch is going. The worry is someone else comes in first. Told Pompey are still in selling mode. AM I RIGHT IN ASSUMING THAT DOS SANTOS IS ONE OF THOSE? BIGGIE - Man U are very close to sign Valencia. Real Madrid bid for him earlier today, but it is a bit complicated in terms of how they would pay. The fact Real are trying to sign Faubert - who is truly hopeless - tells me United have won. Cracking player, by the way. Checked out the Rovers interest in him from two years ago...found out it was only an inquiry, nothing more. Fair play to Wigan and Paul Jewell. They signed a gold mine there. Wigan appear to almost dead certs for relegation next season with all these outgoings
nicko Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Nicko - any truth in city bidding for lescott? They no nearer with Given? We any other targets you know of?? As it's you I will answer that... Lescott is fancied by Man City but they won't get Everton to sell - despite the player being sneaky about trying to get there. Given? Why is a fee not agreed? Could a player be going the other way? No more word on Rovers...think they liked Taylor...but he wants to join Newcastle. No judge. Sky Sports News reporting that Portsmouth are in talks with Tottenham striker Giovanni Dos Santos. Fee has been agreed with Tottenham. Kia or Pini have been on the phone to Rumours Central. Why woould anybody buy that plank? Wigan appear to almost dead certs for relegation next season with all these outgoings Wrong. Wigan are collecting a mountain of cash. Any good manager could buy a team with that wad. And Steve Bruce is quite a good manager. If Valencia goes for £18 million they will have a Great Train Robbery fund behind them.
andyroversmad Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 We should just sell Roque to Spurs and get darren bent at the same time. He has pace and can score goals would not be impressed if we wasted something like £ 10 million and bought Peter crouch

GOOD NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hughesy Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Looks like City may of tried a bid for Terry?? Terry approach rejected.
Guest Kamy100 Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Kia or Pini have been on the phone to Rumours Central. Why woould anybody buy that plank? looks like they are Kia and Pini's propoganda channel at the moment. Dos Santos has potential but totally not suited to the Premier League, he should cut his losses and return to La Liga.
Backroom Tom Posted January 30, 2009 Backroom Posted January 30, 2009 From where I'm sat Rovers are in a good position here, either keep roque or go for someone sam wants with plenty of cash. big few days ahead lets hope we keep our heads.
spencey7 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 If Valencia goes for £18 million they [Wigan] will have a Great Train Robbery fund behind them. And Bruce will be allowed to spend it. Are you reading John Williams...?
DeadlyDirk Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Yeh I wouldn't be too worried about Wigan, with the sale of Heskey, Palacios and potentially Valencia they must have 30m+ to spend, even if he only gets half that to spend he can probably bring in 4 or so good players. So for Rovers though it seems Dzenko (sp?), Janko, Pogrebenyak are all a no go so could well be a choice between keeping Roque or going for Crouch. You's think any other replacements of quality we'd have been linked with by now, I'd be surprised if a new name came out in the next day or two. Would still like to see us bring in at least one other striker though regardless of what happens with Roque considering we've lost Derbyshire. I know Diouf has come in but Judge has gone two so leaves us short in a couple of areas.
Hughesy Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 And Bruce will be allowed to spend it. Are you reading John Williams...? GIVE IT A REST!!! FFS! Whelan owns the club and its his money - so he can give them what he wants John Williams doesnt own the club and doesnt decide how much cash we get. Do you understand that?? Now go back to school on monday and tell all your class mates the same please.

Fraserkirky Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Darren Bent would be absolutely brilliant for us. Loud mouth Harry wants shot of him despite being Spurs best striker, 27 apps and 12 goals( Not sure how many of those apps would be from the bench). I may be alone on this one but i rate him as better than Defoe, despite the shocking miss! 12-14million = plus Bent for RSC is a GREAT deal. Bit of cash left over to slip a midfielder in before Monday! Big sam really wants Crouchie me thinks! The perfect lumix for his 4-5-1 formation with MGP and Diouf on the wings, McCarthy or dare I say Villaneuva tucked in behind. 10million is alot for us, would be delighted if we landed him. Can't wait for this to be over !!!!!!
hawkiiz Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 crouch cant play as a lone striker. he needs a partner, and i dont think sam will turn us into a 451 team. it will be some kind of 442, but maybe benni or roberts lurking just a little bit deeper than crouch. we could however try a very direct style of play, with a target man to supply the finisher. maybe crouch to assist benni. or rocky supporting benni. it could be deadly, but then we need people in midfield that can really cross a ball and send a tugay kind of pass on a regular basis. my norwegian friends will probably know where i'm heading. egil olsen kind of attacking. it is not sexy but it is the most effective way to play, but it have to be done correctly, and for that we dont have the players just yet.
steverovers Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 And Bruce will be allowed to spend it. Are you reading John Williams...? Give it a rest you cretin Look back at your own posts - you were complaining that we weren't linked to players rated above 5-6 million. Now we ARE being rated in the 10m catagory you are still complaining. FFS you are a complete moron. Get a life or get back to school. Preferably both!
USA Rover Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Nicko, Is there any interest in Sacha Kljestan in the EPL? He'd be a decent fit for our Rovers. Celtic is not going to sign him. He might take a bit of time to adjust, but he'd be available for about 2.5.
alexanders Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 But Rovers need a replacement. What about Tchité from Racing, heard anything about that? Tchite It is in spanish and says that we have been watching him and may consider a bid to lure him to PL.
Bobby G Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Highly rated in Spain... Its getting a bit late in the game for transfers I think. Alot will be known today if Roque is in the squad or not. I wouldnt dare not play him. We cant risk it at all. On a sidenote, I was wondering why Valencia was going to United now, but I realize the deal will go through in the summer, and that leaves huge question marks over Ronaldo's future, doesnt it?
