Billy Castell Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Maybe he has taken the criticism about his showboating against Arsenal last season to heart, and has gone too far the other way. I thought that was great myself, and if you can do that, and still create a chance or pass the ball, then it's OK.

Guest Kamy100 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...icle2192308.ece He is a grade A nutter, having seen him on a night out in Manchester and experienced his low life behaviour I am not surprised. It makes my skin crawl seeing him on the famous blue and white shirt but I am sure that on the pitch he will be a success. My other big worry is Benni, they are big friends and often go out together, it is no coincidence that Benni focus and fitness have improved since Diouf was shipped off to the North East.
philipl Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Alot will be known today if Roque is in the squad or not. I wouldnt dare not play him. We cant risk it at all. Of course he is playing today- don't be so daft, the guy loves Rovers.
hawkiiz Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 he has been quoted as saying "i will do you!" and "i will stab you" doesnt have to mean he is violent
nicko Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 nicko where do things stand on the Roque and replacement front this morning? There is a 'chain' forming. Portsmouth trying to sign a striker...so Crouch could be gone. If so you might have your replacement. And either Spurs or Man City will come back to Rovers with a bid for Roque that would be at the right figure.

My other big worry is Benni, they are big friends and often go out together, it is no coincidence that Benni focus and fitness have improved since Diouf was shipped off to the North East. I've met Diouf on a night out in Ikon, Bolton and he seemed perfectly fine then, took photos with everyone that wanted one, he were drinking Pink Champagne when i were talking to him. I think the photo of it is on my Facebook, anyway thats beside the point, he didn't seem like a anti-social low-life then. He has made big mistakes in the past, but i'm willing to give him my whole support until he does something while at Rovers that is deemed unacceptable. I don't for one minute believe the tripe that is in The Sun today. No member of the press has liked the guy since previously mentioned on this board incidents. He surely would have been arrested for threatening to pretty much murder someone, afterall offering to "knife" somebody is as good as saying i am going to kill you, and surely Anton with him being involved in anti-knife crime charities would push for charges to be made. As long as he stays in line while he's a Rover, he has my support and its pretty pathetic that people can't give him the chance to turn himself around under Sam, if or when he behaves like a complete ****, by all means get on his back and let him know its unacceptable but until then leave it out and get behind the team. As for Benni, he needs to be fully motivated and committed to the club and his fitness, he has the WC coming up in his home country and the first time in Africa, he'll want to make sure he is banging in goals for fun between now and then. Anyway, do any of you think the squad wants to be fighting a relegation battle with their home crowd spending time getting on Diouf's back? I personally think they'd be happy to have a united front from the crowd behind them. EDIT-Sorry Mods i for some reason thought i was in the Diouf thread with all the Diouf chat going on in this thread, could you possibly move it to appropriate Diouf thread please. Sorry!!!
roversmad95 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Couldn't give a farnarkerlers, as long as he does the business on the park and the rovers win! couldn't agree more... well said....

Bearing that in mind Nicko, do you think Roque and/or Crouch will be withdrawn from their squads if the move is in such a developed stage?
ihtd Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Nicko, could it be fair to say that when the line-ups/bench are named for the 3pm kick offs today, we could have a fair indication as to whether these transfers are going to happen? For example the chain of transfers you've mentioned.
dingles staying down 4ever Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Not really....suspect that RSC on the bench today with him moving on Monday........Unless the chain of events is already well advanced.

Have Rovers actually contacted Pompey regarding Crouch then or is just rumours at the moment.
roversmad95 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 the chain may have started.... http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...icle2192483.ece also see links for a few other strikers.... benjani, sturrage and a couple of others..

Bearing that in mind Nicko, do you think Roque and/or Crouch will be withdrawn from their squads if the move is in such a developed stage? I'm sure Nicko can make a better job of answering your question, so not trying to usurp the great man. My tuppence worth of opinion on this is that Crouch went to Portsmouth for three reasons: 1. Play more regular football, 2. play for 'Arry and 3. the money. (In that order). Point #2 is now moot. I can't see him relishing the prospect of either playing for Tony Adams nor a club that is in dire trouble whose real owner is likely to become a fugitive (technically he is now) to the law and will be stripped of further assets come the end of the season. Points 1 & 3 can be comfortably addressed by Rovers.
nicko Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Got a game to go to. All I have heard this morning is that someone at Rovers is marking cards among the Sunday papers about a new Spurs bid for Roque. This could be to wind-up Man City. However I believe it is accurate...Spurs WILL table more than City's £18.5 million. Bent swap a no-no from what I understand.
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Not enough time in my view to find a decent replacement for Roque, i don't think Crouch is the answer at all. We also haven't been linked to any midfielders, in particular attacking midfielders which you would assume would be an area that we would look to strengthen with a large percentage of the Roque sale money. With there not being enough time left and no suitable replacements i'd keep Roque until the summer.

Another couple of things which could hinder any deal is whether we will match his wage demands and whether he wants to move back up north.
roversmad95 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 i thought big sam wanted ryan taylor from wigan why did the barcodes get him for less that 1 mill oh well...
spencey7 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Diouf will fit in well at ewood... lets forget his past and give him our support. If he does something wrong here then fair enough... then you can have a go at him. GIVE IT A REST!!! FFS!

farhanology Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Can we just use the Bentley money to replace Derbyshire - and with that, Roque to stay? Or is it the case that Crouch commands way extorbitant wages, in which case, if were seriously pursuing his services, why are we bending over backwards to get someone who will not actually improve the team? Is BRFC gonna be suckered into believing the mystique of English players - burning a hole in the wallet only to find out that your purchase is at best average? Dont think Crouch will cost less than 10 million.
10moorgate Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Doubt it. He'll know that Chris will probably have a much bigger knife. bigger knife or bigger chopper??!!
mclove Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Wouldnt spend anymore than 7.5 million on Crouch! Damn overpriced english players
BRFC1995 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 just seen city owner in stands, roque bid could be dead as hughes is on dodgy ground by the looks of his face. which would be great
