1864roverite Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I cant see City having made a bid today, its well documented that clubs never bid on match days.

Blue n White Rover Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 looking on another board it seems bolton are adding on the nolan money and bidding 14m for veloso, carlos queiroz at bolton match, significant in any way? Nope, just came to see their new signing Makalulu. Megson confirmed the deals dead after the game again.
roversmad95 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Listening to the radio he had a good game, tested the keeper with a few shots one swerving one required a great save. There was also the time when he got through on goal but the ref pulled it back for a handball that apparently wasn't. He's not playing that badly, just needs a goal or two and he could go on a run. cheers for the report.... well i think we will know on monday whats going to happen there is not much point in us guessing as its not down to us.... im sure sam has made his mind up one way or another
rovers1995 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Hughes admitted on sky sports that a bid for santa cruz is on the table and as we rejected one yesterday, he must have submitted it late last night, or sometime today.
DeadlyDirk Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 I cant see City having made a bid today, its well documented that clubs never bid on match days. City follow their own set of rules though don't they
nicko Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Just a couple of points. ROVERS STRIKER - Still looking which makes me wonder...watched someone in Europe last night...do not overheat - the guy was hopeless...but it suggests that the hunt goes on even now. RYAN TAYLOR - wanted to join Newcastle United...no loss. DARREN BENT - took his goals well when he came on for Spurs today...and he was watched by Rovers....although I think that was a general look at Spurs players...word is they are still very much in there. However ROBBIE KEANE and Spurs does not go away...he is out of the Liverpool squad again tomorrow...and someone well-informed tells me Aaron Lennon plus cash is the option if Roque is too dear. No 11 o'clocker but looking forward to see the papers and who runs the Spurs and Roque story. How can Man City keep backing Sparky when he is so obviously miles from having a good team or any idea how to put one together?
captainhaircut Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Nicko, Anything on Veloso? My mate reckons Megson said he was on the way to another prem club.
andyroversmad Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Nicko do you think there is a chance we might go for Darren Bent + cash ? or has sam completly ruled it out.
RovertheHill Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 If we have to get rid of Roque then I'd rather we went to Spurs and said that they could have him for Bent + Lennon or Bent + Huddlestone (or being cheeky, Bent + Lennon + Huddlestone )
bigbrandjohn Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Seriously? Beattie is not good enough for Rovers. I'd take his goal today,he knows how to score,he knows cold dark grey days grinding out a win with 10 men against the worlds richest club. He doesnt need to adjust to the premiership, he didnt cost 10 million. Anyway it's history, i hope we aren't because when it came to make a decision , we were left with a demotivated stiker who will rue his chance of a missed payday. As I said before nobody will offer 18 million in the summer, the window of opportunity will be gone.
andyroversmad Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 i would take either Bent, Jenas + cash or Bent, Huddelstone + cash at least we can get a striker and a central midfielder out of Spurs

I agree Nicko, Santa cruz is his final chip at the Last chance saloon,he feels Roque can make a difference to his team which is why he is so persistent. I cant help but feel that if he doesnt get him he will be out of there. That being said if he gets Roque and he doent bang them in quickly he will be out anyway.

Apart from Bent who might we be in there for?
Sandman Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Nicko, Are United going for Valencia this window or in the summer.
cn174 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Nicko, Are United going for Valencia this window or in the summer. Bruce said after the game that they'd rejected a bid from Real Madrid, but they will consider his options again in the summer.
nicko Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 VALENCIA...Wigan turned down Real Madrid bid [say that several times to let it sink in] and I think he goes to Man U in the summer...full details hopefully in the Sunday People...if not, on here. BEN HAIM...Sunderland...on loan...no loss. By the way, that boy Coyle knows how to make a substitution.
thenodrog Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 As I said before nobody will offer 18 million in the summer, the window of opportunity will be gone. Maybe but maybe not. But 18 m is a silly number. Some club will surely offer 15 so it's only approx 3m we are risking against Prem survival.
Inta Beaver Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Looks like zoro is signing according to SSN
bigbrandjohn Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Maybe but maybe not. But 18 m is a silly number. Some club will surely offer 15 so it's only approx 3m we are risking against Prem survival. If we go down it will be a fire sale. We wont be able to afford half of our team. It will be a buyers market. I just dont see anything so far this season that gives me the confidence to think that Roque will be our saviour in the second half of the season. Apart from one ray of hope. If Monsiueur le Diouff comes in and gives the front two quick plentiful and accurate crosses , then I would be delighted to change my opinion
Hasta Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 By the way, that boy Coyle knows how to make a substitution. Yeah. I noticed that when he brought Akinbiyi on against Tottenham in extra time and they suddenly stopped being able to keep hold of the ball upfront.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 By the way, that boy Coyle knows how to make a substitution. 6th time lucky. First point(s) since Christmas, isn't it?
nicko Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Yeah. I noticed that when he brought Akinbiyi on against Tottenham in extra time and they suddenly stopped being able to keep hold of the ball upfront. It was either Akinbiyi or the ball boy.
rovers1995 Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Nicko, what other spurs players apart from bent would rovers have been looking at that could be included in any deal for Santa Cruz
Hughesy Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Nicko any ideas what the new Roque bid from City was?? The deal if over £20m, seems too good to be true for me - if so we really should take Bent + £12m+.
