Nicko any ideas what the new Roque bid from City was??

The deal if over £20m, seems too good to be true for me - if so we really should take Bent + £12m+.

I'm not sure there is one...but there will obviously have to be.

Sounds like Spurs are trying to keep both the Roque and Robbie Keane interests alive - and see which one they can get.

Unless Rovers find a top striker it's all irrelevant anyway.

We think that the Crouch idea is dead? Nicko? Shame if it is

Where has that come from?

Two problems if Rafa ranting at 'Arry hasn't killed Spurs' interest in Keane:

1) With Liverpool playing tomorrow, we are into Monday before Spurs might decide between Keane and RSC are get a new £20+m offer in.

2) Liverpool owe Spurs for Keane and are far from flush with cash. So Spurs would be delighted not to have the risk of LFC not paying on time and the amount they would need to find now to finance a Keane deal will be correspondingly less.

It was meant to be a question. Just ended up very badly phrased.

With rovers looking at foreign targets still and being at the spurs game today i thought maybe Crouchie had taken a back burner.

Was hoping that someone could clarify our interest him?

Rovers are looking at other strikers in case they need [a] a Roque replacement or another body.

The one they looked at is not the answer...they know that.

Just a couple of points.

ROVERS STRIKER - Still looking which makes me wonder...watched someone in Europe last night...do not overheat - the guy was hopeless...but it suggests that the hunt goes on even now.

Was he playing in the Hamburg-Bayern game?

If it was Luca Toni (unlikely yes I know!) he was terrible. Missed one semi-difficult chance and one absolute sitter which even Ashley Ward would've scored!

Do you mean the rich and famous Ashley Ward on wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashley_Ward

nausiating to think of those days and how wealthy terrible managers made truly awful players! 30 to 40 years down the line you'll be reading stories about the playboy antics of the heirs to the nathan blake fortune.......... :angry2:

on a a transfer related point this window closes at 5 but the summer one closed at midnight, so we won't need to be up late monday to know what deals are done?

Indeed, don't know how he managed to miss it but to be fair to him he had a perfectly good goal disallowed in the first half.

Only other game of note was Roda against Heracles or Zenit in a friendly game in the afternoon?

look , based on what nicko and more importantly sam allardyce has been saying for the last 2 weeks rovers are not gong to sell RSC until we have replacement , bearing in mind ther is only 1 1/2 days left of the window and we havent signed a replacement , and RSC started today , then that tells me he wont be leaving this window

Tell spuds and man city with regards to santa, no can do, explain to santa that his performances could well keep us up and warrant him an even bigger move in the summer ( buy him 8 cans and a mixed kebab) and thats the end of that for 6 months, with what brass we actually have left try to sign a creative midfielder who can plod the ball around a bit, and rovers dont have to endure the championship next season.

In my eyes thats how i see it, if only prem manager life was that simple :P

sneaky edit here , i understand that sam hasnt had had the viewing of rovers that we have had this season so he may well not see the problems in midfield like we do, but im sure someone must have seen enough to relay to sam that this is our weakest area, im finding it so hard to undertstand that we have a full month to spec some good mid players and not 1 name has been mentioned in this area, SHOCKING (apart form spit of course:/)

they both battle it out with the same offer LOL surely a fiver more would have secured the deal

In saying this its purely jest in watching him warm up against bolton he came chasing a ball to the riverside advertising hoardings and 1 fan was clapping and praising him and he responded really well to this were as most would have just ignored them, he strikes me as a humble man who wants to better himself , if the situation did arise that rovers would be big enough to see off any transfer window pests, im sure he would be the kinda guy that didnt dwell on it.

Yeah, he seems like a guy who wouldn't dwell on it and would still give his best.

I also think that he would take on board the fact that we have turned down 18+ million for him. That alone must make him feel wanted!

Anyone thinking Bentley could be included? Personally I doubt it, but cant think of any other Spurs player that would generally excite me. Maybe Lennon a bit, and to a degree a scorer like Bent. Id be more tempted by young Sturridge at City. Its obvious we need a different outlet up front.

It's all wishful thinking. You may as well wonder about getting Robinho thrown in.
