they_think_its_all_rover Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Amazingly, and I am not defending it, the Man U Cup game counted towards a game for the suspension. How? he was ineligible to play, as he'd already played in the cup with Wigan. Hardly a suspension.

nicko Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Amazingly, and I am not defending it, the Man U Cup game counted towards a game for the suspension. Correct...ridiculous but true. The rule is that he would miss the next two games - whether he could play in them or not. Farcical or what? About as farcical as playing in the second leg of a Carling Cup semi when you were not signed for the first.
Hughesy Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 So given is more or less a done deal now - so surely they will now just attack us for Roque until tomorrow. Im sure they will make a few offers to us over the next 24 hours. Will be interesting!!!
nicko Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 How? he was ineligible to play, as he'd already played in the cup with Wigan. Hardly a suspension. I couldn't agree with you more. Worse still, it was going to be the Sunday People back page lead until we found the 'loophole.'

Hughesy Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Nicko - anything new from ewood? Also is it true that Bolton have now submitted a bid for Sean Davis?
ffan Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Nicko - anything new from ewood? Also is it true that Bolton have now submitted a bid for Sean Davis? I would love for Fulham to resign him. He was very good yesterday. According to Nicko though he doesn't want to move back north which rules out Rovers, Bolton, Wigan...
nicko Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Nicko - anything new from ewood? Also is it true that Bolton have now submitted a bid for Sean Davis? Strikers galore being mentioned...only update is that Portsmouth WON'T pay the money Stoke want for Kitson who could have been Crouch's replacement. Bolton in for Davis, Ledley, Harper...and a new one who they might just get. Surprisingly good idea.
EwoodGlory Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Veluso?, very good idea, if they can pull it off. Regarding Bent, if we have been offered him, can someone show these stats to Big Sam. Total Minutes Played: 1,920 STARTS: 19 USED SUBSTITUTE: 11 TOTAL APPEARANCES: 30 UNUSED SUBSTITUTE: 1 Total Squads: 31 Average Minutes Played per Match: 64 minutes GOALS: 14 (9 Premier League, 4 UEFA Cup, 1 League Cup) STRIKE RATE (Minutes played per goal): 137 Also just read a rumour that Sturridge could go to Spurs on loan, another 'agreement'?, if true.
nicko Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 VELOSO...Isn't going to Bolton...Sporting Lisbon want £20 million...the unnamed one is very good choice...hope it keeps until later. BENT...Plenty of interest...plenty of desperation...not on Rovers radar. STURRIDGE...In no rush to leave Man City.
rovers1995 Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Nicko what do you think the likelyness of rovers keeping Santa Cruz is.
nicko Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Nicko what do you think the likelyness of rovers keeping Santa Cruz is. Better by the minute obviously. You are going to have an awkward moment in the next 24 hours. The biggest offer or offers in your history...but no-one to come in as we speak if you accept it.
Bobby G Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 We wont sell unless we replace him and I cant see us getting a quality replacement unless we have struck a contingency deal for Janko, or Pogrebnyak or someone...I fear us selling for 25 million and replacing him with an inferior player, or panic buy.
philipl Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Mail- Given to City for £8m done deal. Interesting thing is the Mail are sticking to their guns on this story about City having an upper budget limit which now means there can be no new bid for Roque. Elsewhere, Nelsen has been speaking about how Roque is good for the team. If you look back to wshen Ryan has spoken out publicly in the past, it has always been very much as the mouthpiece for the club as a whole. That clearly indicates to me that something exceptional needs to happen for Roque to leave and that doesn't appear likely so far as the club's hierarchy are concerned. It is also clear from comments coming from the club that they know they are taking a risk with supporter sentiment when they signed Diouf. They know that Roque is just about the most popular player at Rovers and I am sure they would be doing more to prepare the supporters for him leaving if the club expected to be the case.
ScottishRover Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Nicko, the guy who Bolton are after who you say is a good idea, Henrik Larsson by any chance?
AndyNeil Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 He is a free agent at the moment ... so maybe a good call?
nicko Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Nicko, the guy who Bolton are after who you say is a good idea, Henrik Larsson by any chance? Don't know about that one...it's a midfield player they are after. By the way, that Makukula...slower than a week in Barlinnie.
trs Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 It was meant to be a question. Just ended up very badly phrased. Dont take it to heart Begresko, you'll start to enjoy the insecure ones we have "on board"
nicko Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Just a quickie for the Burnley onlookers...smelling a rat with O'Dea deal...think Celtic may have other plans for him...like a swap for Fletcher maybe...but that deal to t'Turf is off. [Apolgies as non-Rovers, but it saves on the PMs]
mclove Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Nicko, Do you think Rovers have a player lined up and maybe have agreed something if an 11th hour bid came which satisfied rovers? Or is it the fact we wont accept a bid of 20 million if we dont have a replacement? Because it would be as you said one of the biggest offers that the club has seen!

Or is it the fact we wont accept a bid of 20 million if we dont have a replacement? Because it would be as you said one of the biggest offers that the club has seen! It has been said several times that the case is we won't sell without a replacement. And why should we? Whatever your views on Roque, you must surely be able to see it is plain stupid to sell him without any kind of replacement! £20m is no good if there is noone to spend it on.
