AJW Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Nicko, one for you. A few spurs fans here think that Redknapp might give City something to think about, by offering Rovers cash + Lennon + Jenas or Bent. In turn City will offer straight 25mill as a last effort to finally land Cruz. Is there any truth in this, is Rednapp going to or at least trying to force City's hand for some obscure reason? cant see it , spurs are threadbare in the players department at mo , redknapp has said on a number of occaisions he cannot allow anybody to leave , if spurs come in it will be cash only(spread over a number years i suspect!!!)

nicko Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 panucci ain't really much of a story to give any kind of build up, vieira got 47 in 500 that would be a story? Player goes from Roma to Hull - after playing for Real Madrid and AC Milan. Not much of a tale. You'll be telling me next Wigan turn down bids from Real Madrid all the time...
DeadlyDirk Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 panucci ain't really much of a story to give any kind of build up, vieira got 47 in 500 that would be a story? That's what I thought, the signing of an ageing experienced right back isn't the exciting news I would be expecting, certainly wouldn't be enough for tomorrow's back bages. Vieira though, that would be a story.
Iceman Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Nicko are there any indication, that we might see Cruz depart between now and 17:00 tomorrow?
AJW Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 does anyone know why the deadline ends at 5pm rather than the usual midnight?
philipl Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 does anyone know why the deadline ends at 5pm rather than the usual midnight? UEFA dispensation- it actually ended at midnight last night in countries like Spain which did not take up the option. (It's the 32nd of January today)
Beta Ray Bill Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 does anyone know why the deadline ends at 5pm rather than the usual midnight? because it was an extension only due to 31st being a Saturday
DeadlyDirk Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 because it was an extension only due to 31st being a Saturday I was actually thinking the same thing, I understand its on a sunday and that is why its been moved forward an extra day but why 5pm? The transfer window in the summer was moved forward to the next day because it was a Sunday but it still remained until midnight, 5pm seems a bit random. Operating business hours now are we? Does anyone know why it's 5pm and not midnight?

Does anyone know why it's 5pm and not midnight? Because everyone's had enough of it? My daughter should be on setanta football matters again tomorrow night. I know this is not the place to put that but i don't know where else is, and she will be commenting on rovers' transfer window business.
disgruntled Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Cos the staff at the PL and FA can't be arsed working until midnight
Sandiway Blue Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Not long now folks to the `stroke boy` hour, yes it is the tv event of 2009 (well until the summer at least! ).For a change i am on the right shift so i can catch it in full!

Starting to think Stroke Boy is better than Gilbert and Sullivan Boy - the other chap who reads papers and pretends to have calls to his mobile.
Backroom Tom Posted February 1, 2009 Backroom Posted February 1, 2009 Starting to think Stroke Boy is better than Gilbert and Sullivan Boy - the other chap who reads papers and pretends to have calls to his mobile. Is he the 'chunkier' bloke?
RevidgeBlue Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I'd tell both Spurs and City to sod off. Both have had a month to sort out a deal, but want to weaken our position in the league so leave it until the last day. Spurs really could go down without another striker on board, I’d play them at their own game and leave them without one by pulling the plug tomorrow afternoon on any deal whatever the ammount. Amen to that Gav. It would be quite suicidal to sell RSC at this stage without a proven top quality Premiership performer lined up and secured. By that I mean a 10m plus replacement of the ilk of Bent or Crouch and I simply don't see us spending that sort of money or anyone wanting to sell their better players at this stage. Not that keen on Crouch anyway. Bent could be interesting for someone given a regular starting berth.
nicko Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Is he the 'chunkier' bloke? Who looks ready to break into light opera at any moment... Watch him next time and see what I mean.
waynerovers Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 forgive my ignorance but could someone fill me in on this 'stroke boy' phenomenon
Tim Southampton Rover Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Hey Nicko, Have you heard any news regarding other Rovers players who could be snapped up in the transfer window or maybe Sam is looking to ship out in the summer?
mclove Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Bryan Swanson I do believe Yep he's the chief sky sports ed, spends all his time hear, i heard
nicko Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Got to watch out for the Topic Police...but here is some interesting news...no idea what the repercussions are for Rovers but it could have a knock-on effect on the whole market. A top move is in jeopardy because a leading player has failed a medical. The buying club don't know whether to press on or drop the idea. The selling club need to sell to get money for a striker. The striker they want is at a club who need to sell him...to bid for a Rovers player. That is how stupid the market is at this time. I won't name the player...it's possible the move will happen on a 'staged payments' tomorrow. But by then it could be too late for the rest of us.

Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Keane? Pavly? Drogba? Can't be City as they don't need to sell before they buy. - A top move is in jeopardy because a leading player has failed a medical. Drogba? The buying club don't know whether to press on or drop the idea. City? The selling club need to sell to get money for a striker. Chelsea? The striker they want is at a club who need to sell him...to bid for a Rovers player. Here is where it falls down. Keane so Liverpool can buy Cruz? Or selling Bent to someone so Spurs can buy Cruz, but that seems wrong because you say Spurs already have the cash.
