Stuart Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Great. Unless I am mistaken it could go like this: We get Poggy for 6 months on loan. He then is a free person. He could come to us, or more likely, go to another PL club of his choice if he has impressed in his 6 months for us? We've been known to insert 'option to buy' in the loan deals.

nicko Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 His name might be Szabolcs Huszti , but he is a midfielder. Huszti Left-side attacker?
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Yeah Huszti is a midfielder, but it could be a striker who hasn't actually signed yet. Hence the "scoop" comment. Hardly a scoop if it was on their website, was it? Probably talking about a different player. But then again...Hannover...Doubt it'd be two players from the same club... I'm rambling...
BRFC1995 Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 as long as no one leaves we are'nt too badly off. there is no way i can see sam just letting the window close without padding the squad a bit more, if zoro does sign i'd have thought simpsons loan would be terminated and another loanee in, egyptian lad or his agent seem convinced they sign tomorrow, we definitely enquired about poggy 4 or 5 days ago so that may pan out...........basically i don't think we'll be the quietest team in the market tomorrow to sign the russian on loan or permanantly is an awesome prospect, guy seems to be a real clinical finisher in the shearer, klose bracket
Bobby G Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I cant believe we would sign Pogrebnyak unless Roque is sold, irrespective of whether its a loan or has a fee. If we pocket 20 million for Roque and replace him by a loanee, then we better not see the last of that money! I think we have applied for the permit in case Roque leaves tomorrow. I have a bad feeling Roque is a goner, and that City will cave into whatever price we ask for tomorrow.
spencey7 Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Zenit St Petersburg scoop here... The Russians just signed a striker from Hannover. Either Arshavin's replacement or Poggy's? I'm sure I read that Zenit were trying to sign Iaquinta from Juve as well... Could be Arshavin AND Pogrebnyak's replacements...
nicko Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 The Russian CAN'T be Roque's replacement...surely. He has had injury problems, has not played a game for a couple of months and will be miles off the pace. I doubt if it is a full-time deal on that basis too. It might suit all parties if it was for the rest of the season only. I can't see Rovers splashing out big money - or the player wanting to come - when you could still be relegated.

If it's a loan then we might well go for him, we have let Derbyshire and Judge go remember, Diouf can only cover one of those positions at a time, although BFS may not see the need to replace Judge as he was only on the fringes. Still think we are a bit short in the center though with Dunn's ongoing injury battle as well as Emerton's injury which we still don't have any news on yet.
SoccerHQ Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Aaron Mokena is rumoured to be going to Sheffield United for the rest of the season. Nicko, anything like to happen transfer wise at Villa in the next 24 hours?
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Aaron Mokena is rumoured to be going to Sheffield United for the rest of the season. That would cripple us. Don't let it happen JW!
nicko Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Aaron Mokena is rumoured to be going to Sheffield United for the rest of the season. The Knife joins, The Axe goes?
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 The Axe joins the Blades? Apologies.
alexanders Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 How many loans are we allowed to have? Villanueva, Givet, Zoro, Poggy?
John Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Still cannot understand why we are not looking at bringing in a central midfielder. Generally, getting concerned again because we have just had a good set of fixtures. Combining that with the new manager 'honeymoon period' we should have picked up more points.
nicko Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Nicko, I know its not Rovers related but just interested in your big news from the other day! What is the story with Valencia to Man U? You said it was close but heard nothing yet! would that be for the summer?? I get the impression that this deal will come as a result of Utd selling Ronaldo! Real Madrid bid for Valencia...Man U were told to match it or else...Wigan then said 'no' to real and persuaded Man U to back off on him until the summer. Wigan have money but were scared they could go down if their best player left. Think it is all but agreed that he goes to Man U in the summer.
Amo Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 When does the window officially closed? I was told tomorrow evening. Fingers crossed we can hang onto Roque.
Hughesy Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Isnt it 2 from uk and as many as you like from abroad?? Nicko -anything on players going out - i.e. mokoena, gallagher, vogel, brown?? 5pm tomorrow
Exiled_Rover Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 That would cripple us. Don't let it happen JW! I do hope that's sarcasm.
Bobby G Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 To be honest, I wouldnt be giving any other players away right now. News over Berts injury means we could be without him for a while and we could do with all the experience we have in the squad.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I do hope that's sarcasm. Aaron is a class player. He'll be pivotal in our bid to stay up. I don't mind losing Roque but we cannot let this guy go. Marcos Senna is a similar type of player, albeit not as skilful as Aaron.
Hughesy Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Spurs finally made their mind up??? "21.01 Sky Sources suggest Tottenham have held further talks with Liverpool over securing Robbie Keane's return to White Hart Lane"

News over Berts injury means we could be without him for a while and we could do with all the experience we have in the squad. Agree especially with Dunn and Grella's injury records this year and Judge and Derbyshire going. Mokoena might be a bit of a useless player at times but at least he can do a limited job in desperate times.
bringdunnback Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Portsmouth have signed Gekas from Bayer Leverkusen on loan till the end of the season, wonder if that affects the Crouch situation, probably not.
DeadlyDirk Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Portsmouth have signed Gekas from Bayer Leverkusen on loan till the end of the season, wonder if that affects the Crouch situation, probably not. I saw that and wondered the same but didn't hear what position he is, not sure who he is to be honest. With Defoe going though they are probably looking to bring in a forward anyway whether or not Crouch stays.
