alexanders Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Spurs are weird. They sell all their players (Chimbonda, Keane and Defoe) and then try to get them back half a year later.

SoccerHQ Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Gekas has a decent scoring record in the Bundesliga so worh a gamble. Selling Crouch to me though would be like waving the white flag at relgation especially if Dave Kitson or Harewood is his replacement!
sparky12 Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 When does the window officially closed? I was told tomorrow evening. Fingers crossed we can hang onto Roque. tommorow at 5pm
PAFELL Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Manchester City FC are delighted to announce the signing of Shay Given from Newcastle United for an undisclosed fee. Couldn't have failed too badly.. I think they needed to re-check Given's sanity - city couldn't believe somebody actually wanted to come to them.
47er Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 The Russian CAN'T be Roque's replacement...surely. He has had injury problems, has not played a game for a couple of months and will be miles off the pace. I doubt if it is a full-time deal on that basis too. It might suit all parties if it was for the rest of the season only. I can't see Rovers splashing out big money - or the player wanting to come - when you could still be relegated. Isn't the Russian Derbyshire's replacement? Rovers only need and can only afford to pay 4 strikers so Derbs had to go before said Russian came?
nicko Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Isn't the Russian Derbyshire's replacement? Rovers only need and can only afford to pay 4 strikers so Derbs had to go before said Russian came? Super Dioufy is Derbyshire's replacement. By the way, Derbs's people confirm a full-time deal is agreed if all parties like each other.
pick32 Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 So an interview with sam alladyce were he said with diouf it was a one out one in situation, not sure i like the fact we are replacing a young local lad who is a prolific sub goalscorer with diouf who will probably caus havock in the dressing room an cant score or cross a ball.
Bobby G Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 So I think we can presume, Pogrebnyak is coming if Roque leaves, and not otherwise...Its pretty obvious we are moving for the permit in case Roque is sold tomorrow. Matt kind of lost his way during the season after a bright start, and when Allardyce came, instead of pushing on, he looked a bit disheartened, most visibly during the match against Blyth where he could have staked a claim for a spot.
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 So an interview with sam alladyce were he said with diouf it was a one out one in situation, not sure i like the fact we are replacing a young local lad who is a prolific sub goalscorer with diouf who will probably caus havock in the dressing room an cant score or cross a ball. 'prolific'??? seriously? You think that shipping out an out of form striker who is 4th choice currently and replacing him with a right winger who we've desperately needed for the past 4 months is a bad deal????
my_name_is_Earl Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 I'll be very surprised if we don't make a loan move for any central midfielder in this window. With Andrews taking a knock and Emo looking bad, it would make sense especially as the cost of getting a loanee is tiny compared the loss of income if the worst was to happen. I really hope BS has at least one man in mind because it doesn't matter who we have up front if the midfield is not up to scratch. Never thought i'd say this but Moko has to stay simply due to his experience of this league - horses for courses and all that etc. EDIT: Nicko, any chance that developments in the 'Keane situation' will scupper a half decent bid coming in from City if Spurs have pulled out?
Hughesy Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Pick32 - Prolific sub goal scorer?? Where are the facts to back this up? Its like the myth of Lochness.. Derbyshire needs to improve - hence why he has gone out. If he does well then im sure he will be back - if not then he may move on. Diouf, whatever his background is an experienced quality premiership standard player.
Craigman Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Nicko, any chance that developments in the 'Keane situation' will scupper a half decent bid coming in from City if Spurs have pulled out? Maybe they have done a deal like they did with Palacios and Bellamy, Man City leaving Keane alone and Spurs leaving Santa Cruz alone ?
dopper69 Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 We can't let the Axe go anywhere untill we have a couple of midfielders that are fit to play. If Axe goes now (without a replacement) we would be in trouble! *Never though I would say that* Edit - Sir Matt Derbyshire....... would be long gone and forgotten about if foreign.
nicko Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Nicko, any chance that developments in the 'Keane situation' will scupper a half decent bid coming in from City if Spurs have pulled out? As of very recently...Spurs are not hopeful on either Roque or Keane...they are looking everywhere else.
my_name_is_Earl Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Maybe they have done a deal like they did with Palacios and Bellamy, Man City leaving Keane alone and Spurs leaving Santa Cruz alone ? How bad would that agreement be?! Take out the competition to get a player cheaper.......tut tut........ The only thing is, if we haven't found a half decent replacement, Roque wont be going anywhere especially if the bid is reduced due to the lack of competition. I'm sure we're in for a ride whatever happens. I can't see BS passing the chance to sign 'anybody' on transfer deadline day, its just not BS. He'll sign a couple of unknowns from the Artic if it has to......
Mr Creosote Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 As of very recently...Spurs are not hopeful on either Roque or Keane...they are looking everywhere else. Nicko, LT 'A' boards were statting that Burnley had signed somebody on loan. I cant seem to find out who it is and as you the board expert on the facecombers I was wondering if you could oblige. Cheers!

Diouf isn't a "right winger". He's a striker who doesn't score goals so gets played on the right. There's a difference.
my_name_is_Earl Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 As of very recently...Spurs are not hopeful on either Roque or Keane...they are looking everywhere else. Very interesting. How likely do you personally think that Santa will leave given your knowledge of current transfer situations? Any last minute names entering the fray as the situation is changing all the time?
Brfcrule1 Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 thought this was the best place to put this check out the link below http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/2009/02/01/t...15875-21089181/ I don't think Spurs will be signing anyone maybe our chairmen should have a word about them and their pursuit of RSC it seems everyone seems to want to have a pop at spurs what a fine club to end up at Mr Bentley tapping up players oh how the mighty have fallen! also trying to con Arsenal fans out of a tenner as they made a mistake with ticket prices for their game next week hopefully with all this hanging over them that should end their transfer activity!
Hughesy Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 As of very recently...Spurs are not hopeful on either Roque or Keane...they are looking everywhere else. There loss. If we keep Roque then I feel he will be here for a long time. Abit like Benni, never got his move, sulked, sorted his head out and now loving it again. Diouf isn't a "right winger". He's a striker who doesn't score goals so gets played on the right. There's a difference. So whats the loss - we have gained someone who can play upfront and probably bag as many as Derbs if not more. Or more importantly we have finally got someone with abit of pace, that can play on the right wing and actually supply a useful cross!

alexanders Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Facts about Diouf: * Diouf is a playmaker who plays deep on the wing or as a deep lying forward. * Friends with Akon * Diouf founded his own charity to help under-privileged children in Senegal and the United Kingdom. 'The Dioufy Foundation' was officially launched on January 3, 2008
