Paul Mellelieu Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 It's not looking very good is it? We're going to need a big slice of luck to get out of this one. Do panic!
Hi Mack Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Are you Lee Mack? Yes............definately................maybe.....................No!
RevidgeBlue Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 To get out of what one? Are you jesting Hughesey?
Hughesy Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 No im asking - is he on about Roque not leaving or about relegation? If he's on about the latter than I disagree 100% - we will stay up easily

If he's on about the latter than I disagree 100% - we will stay up easily Not wishing to speak for pm but I presume he meant relegation. I admire your confidence but I'm nowhere near as sure as you we'll stay up. Under Sam I'm sure we won't lay down and die against the top 4 but if we were to lose those 4 away games we could need eighteen or nineteen points from the other eleven games to stay up!
mclove Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Aaron Mokena is rumoured to be going to Sheffield United for the rest of the season. Nicko, anything like to happen transfer wise at Villa in the next 24 hours? Hopefully see the back of him

If he's on about the latter than I disagree 100% - we will stay up easily Have you looked at our upcoming fixtures yet? We've just had the easy games... If we don't at least get someone in on loan I'll be dissapointed. Even with the very real threat of relegation looming we still can't produce any transfer funds.

Your run in has a few 6 pointers, chelsea away will be an obstacle but there are still about 7 teams with just a couple of points between you, I think you'll be safe, I guess west brom and stoke will go down just a matter of who will join them.
bigbrandjohn Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Interesting piece in the Independent and a new name enters the frame . Anyone willing to wager whether Roque goes or stays Monday. I think he is off http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/footbal...ry-1523017.html.
RevidgeBlue Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Kuranyi's wikipedia entry Not bad by the looks of it but can't believe we're contemplating such a huge gamble at this late stage.
neekoy Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Kuranyi's wikipedia entry Not bad by the looks of it but can't believe we're contemplating such a huge gamble at this late stage. Kuranyi is hardly a gamble, he is proven quality. If we were to sell Roque I couldn't think of a better player to replace him with like for like
tony gale's mic Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Roque has scored 3 goals this season. I don't understand where this idea that we'd be losing a great deal if we sell him is coming from. Last season is looking more and more like a flash in the pan, especially given his previous record.
BuckyRover Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Many of the match reports that I have read described him as "not interested" during the Boro game. If we sign a "decent" striker and make a tidy profit I will be very happy.

Might be really good, might not settle. Roque hasn't been as effective this season as last but made a real difference when he came on against Bolton and you could see his quality. Probably the main reason we salvaged a point.
BRFC1995 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 i thought poggy was a good rumour, german chaps even better. not counting any chickens yet like until they wear the shirt but this is awsome speculation, we'll probably end up with kevin davies though! santa may not have banged em in this season yet but class is permenant and i'd much prefer to keep him.

Blimey there is also talk of Henri Camara, and it appears Zoro is off due to a work permit problem. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...z.html?ITO=1490
BuckyRover Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I wouldn't class Henri Camara as decent. I would label him average. I suppose I should resign myself to a feeling of disappointment hopefully followed, as the season progresses, with pleasant surprise.

Keeping Santa Cruz is our best option for the relegation fight. Other suggestions are too big a gamble in our current circumstances.

Roberts: 14(4) appearances, 6 goals McCarthy: 10(6) appearances, 7 goals Santa Cruz 14(2) appearances, 3 goals. Roberts has come on and made real differences at times too, although his end header should have been a lot better against Boro his influence was big after he came on. He's been getting himself into those positions a lot more than Roque and thus has scored more despite his terrible finishing. I'd happily jack in RSC to be honest, he's just not as interested, wants out and seems to have a very similar scoring record this season to his record at Bayern which wasnt too good either.
spencey7 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I'd happily jack in RSC to be honest, he's just not as interested, wants out I remember very similar statements being made about Benni McCarthy not so long ago. Simple fact is - We won't be able to sign anyone near Roque's quality. Keep him.
blue and whites Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 the sickest touchdown i've seen for 5 min ago!, sorry for the off topic

Tugay says hi! Although Roque was superb I can't make my mind up on him this season to be honest casue on saturday he did look only half interested to be fair. If we could get a genuine replacement and a profit it has to be considered.
