nicko Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Didn't want to break the Emerton news last night for fear of despair [then I see posts like above]. It explains why there was a search for another face - Zoro at right back or Poggy up front - to replace his versatility. So Super Diouf is now the new right winger? Hmm. Spurs are trying to do Keane as we speak which makes Rafa's 'I don't think so' on the question look rather daft - how can Liverpool sell a forward without a replacement? Crazy. Bolton having a beast. The mystery midfield target was Pedro Mendes at Rangers...and he doesn't want to know them.

gumboots Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Not on topic, but why do folks feel the need to quote posts that are directly above theirs? Because sometimes the post you want to reply to gets separated from your reply by quite a way. You think you've replied quickly but ten people have got there before you and then what you write makes no sense at all.
LeftWinger Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Emerton has been pants all season. Give someone else a go on the right.
hawkiiz Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Arshavin is at Arsenal today. Poggy didt join the flight?
Parsonblue Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Many of the match reports that I have read described him as "not interested" during the Boro game. If we sign a "decent" striker and make a tidy profit I will be very happy. I thought he offered far more than Benni on Saturday. If we sell Roque we need someone with Premiership experience. To sign an untried foreign player at this stage of the season would be madness. Just look how Grella is struggling to come to terms with the pace of the English game. Look how Carlos has flopped in English football. I really don't see an experienced English based striker who is in our price range. For me we have to keep Roque if we want to stay in the Premiership.
my_name_is_Earl Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Shame about brett, just illustrates how problematic our midfield is. Although i've been impressed with Andrews attitude and work rate, we're relying on a lower league midfielder as one of our lynchpins in the spine of the team which is at best not ideal. We must bring in two new faces in midfield whatever happens elsewhere - One for Emo and one just to make up the numbers. Edit: I'd go in for Stephen Hunt for five million (his release clause). Good age, lots of football to come from him and a solid player.
rover6 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I hope Allardyce doesn't rush into one of his infamous polyfiller signings to replace Emerton. We don't need some washed up "experienced" player to plug a gap. If we can't get someone in of quality, just recall Alan Judge or Paul Gallagher or simply persevere with those we have.
nicko Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 There's some bad news coming up for Burnley. No PMs on this - I won't be replying.
hawkiiz Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 how are we going to stay in the prem with gallagher on the right??? Zenit bought Szabolcs Huszti from hannover. does this affect us? Poggy?
Hughesy Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Galagher or Judge are not good enough Rover6. Maybe in another 6 months experience, Judge might be closer to 'making' it. If City are going to make a bid for RSC today - we should probably demand Onuha & Sturridge as part of the deal. Also according to BBC sport he has been spotted at The Lowry hotel in Manchester.
dellinsert Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 There's some bad news coming up for Burnley. No PMs on this - I won't be replying. Coyle on his way to Pompey?
LeftWinger Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 There's some bad news coming up for Burnley. The company that manufactures six-fingered gloves has gone into administration?
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 There's some bad news coming up for Burnley. No PMs on this - I won't be replying. My guess is Eagles/McCann sold. That would be great.
John Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Snowed in so working from home today. The Emerton news is a massive blow to us - our midfield was already lacking quality but now we are struggling big time in that department. Surely we have to replace him.
EwoodGlory Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 There's some bad news coming up for Burnley. No PMs on this - I won't be replying. Something to do with Carlisle? Heard there has been a few problems with him.
herbergeehh Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Are we dealing with Zenit over The Pog, or is that only paper talk?
doctorryan Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Sorry for the confusion, i am multitasking and the Superbowl is getting very crucial Who were you rooting for Doddsy? Back on topic: I've the feeling today is going to be either uneventful or full of good news, but not bad. Don't know why I feel that way, but it probably explains my still being able to support this club without the assistance of medications.
steven Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 The company that manufactures six-fingered gloves has gone into administration? Surely that should be the company that manufactures 5 fingered gloves? I imagine 6 fingered gloves would be a big seller with the Dingles?
Poita Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Emerton has been pants all season. Give someone else a go on the right. Your a moron
LeftWinger Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Surely that should be the company that manufactures 5 fingered gloves? I imagine 6 fingered gloves would be a big seller with the Dingles? WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!!!!!

EwoodGlory Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Have they agreed a fee finally? Hopefully Poggy got a lift over with him.
philipl Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Some things are worth the wait... http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/top...15875-20613151/ Arshavin came in a private jet he hired for himself. According to the Guardian, the key guy at Zenit's numbers are permanently engaged- must be Rovers talking to him then...
ebenrocks Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 according to SSN, Arshavin has lft his hotel and is heading for a London Airport. Apparetly Arsenal just cant afford the fee
EwoodGlory Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Time for a cheeky loan bid, just pay what needs to be paid!
