budha Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Andreas Möller (excellent midfielder btw) admitted: The player is not for sale. Isn't that a contradiction to the whole article? Schalke general manager Andreas Muller admitted: "No player is not for sale." Double-negative

joey_big_nose Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Well we certainly seem to have our striking options well covered! I am worried about our midfield though. With Emerton out we have one right winger who is more of a forward in Diouff. An, um, I think thats it. Carlos can do a poor job out there. Dunn can make a go of it. Thats it. In the centre of the park we admittedly have four players - Grella, Dunn, Tugay and Andrews. But the the first two have severe injury problems, one is 38 and the other started decently enough but is begining to fade as a player. Surely the Egyptian and another central midfielder have to be on their way?
Amo Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Very surprised to see we haven't made a bid for Pedro Mendes. We need more options in the middle.
Dunton Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Nicko Any news on the potential Villa raid of Man City?? Sturridge? Johnson? Micah?
philipl Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 News from Hull- Bullard is ok but no Panucci.
disgruntled Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Nicko Any news on the potential Villa raid of Man City?? Sturridge? Johnson? Micah? Try an Aston villa website for those questions
herbergeehh Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Double-negative Cheers. Kuranyi unverkauflich My limited German tells me he's not for sale. Something about building for the future and the player being happy.
Oklahoma Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Very surprised to see we haven't made a bid for Pedro Mendes. We need more options in the middle. We should have made a bid for him a long time ago...
47er Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Emerton has been pants all season. Give someone else a go on the right. Really stupid comment. Dioef will play there and would have whether Emerton was out or not. Emerton has been one of of best players and probably the most consistent. I was really looking forward to him going back to full-back although he could have played central mid-field Now we're back to the usual fill-ins.
herbergeehh Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 the French version of "terrible" Brámble? I'm off now, might be for the best anyway. Here's hoping we'll have signed The Pog and Pedro Mendes when I return.
philipl Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Double-negative Perfect way to confuse a Russian- to them a double negative is an emphatic NO. Perhaps that is why Arshavin is headed back to Heathrow? AA "You don't want me?" Arse "No, I wouldn't say we don't want you."
Mozzer Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 blackburn should go for ryan taylor-with the news emerton is out injuried for a few months he would be a perfect replacement in that he can play anywhere from right back, to right wing to left wing..we seriously need someone else who can play right wing because we cant just rely on diouf.. as for kurayni-hes a top player, and i would love him at blackburn..hed be a good roque replacement in my view..
duffbear Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 While I agree with you all that we need to draft someone in for Emerton, remember Givet has played many games at right back and is apparently pretty good there. We also have Ooijer I know not an ideal back can do a job and we have Simpson if need be. Midfield is also a problem but we have the option of putting Givet at Left back his preffered postion I belive and Pushing Warnock in midfield we had some good games earlier on in the season. I think the Diouf signing will be Key as he is the only person with Emerton out capable of playing Right Wing. We could play Dunn out there but is better in ther centre and who knows how long he will stay fit for this time, otherwise we will need to play Simpson of Judge (good prospect but not ready yet)
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I'd like to see him fly out of Heathrow on a closed runway.
LeftWinger Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 .. remember Givet has played many games at right back and is apparently pretty good there. ..Midfield is also a problem but we have the option of putting Givet at Left back Remember Givet can also play centre-back. We could play a back-four of Givet, Givet, Givet and Givet
socngill Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I'd like to see him fly out of Heathrow on a closed runway. Have a vision of a private jet smashing through some gates with a load of people in yellow jackets racing after it screaming at them to stop, with Arse just behind shouting "it was a double negative!""
Kelbo Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Remember Givet can also play centre-back. We could play a back-four of Givet, Givet, Givet and Givet Think I'll givet a miss!!!
Iceman Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 At the moment im more concerned about a replacement for Bert, than Roque. Emerton, has been one of our best and hardworking players this season. When times were tough, you always knew you could count on Bert to give it his all. Whatever happens with Roque, im not too worried as finding a striker is easier than finding a player to replace Emerton. I hope Roque stays, but when this is all over ill be happy whether he is still here or not. All the best to Emerton, hope he makes a speedy recovery.

Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 At the moment a versatile right sided player is a bigger priority. Right sided player (winger/RB) Central Midfielder Striker

BuckyRover Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Surely that would involve spending money?? My prediction is that we won't sign anybody exciting. Maybe a golden oldie that I have to defend against my friends jokes
