My limited German tells me he's not for sale. Something about building for the future and the player being happy.

Says exactly that. they've got him till 2010 and want to extend the contract beyond that because he's an important player for them and want to build a team around him. He is not for sale.

Fred is a bit like Kuranyi. Was good a few seasons ago, but have somehow fallen from grace. I would rather have Bent here or Crouch here, as they both already comfortable with the league. Its a huge gamble to take at this stage of the season. Either keep Roque, or sell him and get it over and done with.

My prediction is that we won't sign anybody exciting. Maybe a golden oldie that I have to defend against my friends jokes

Agree - feels like the last few windows at the end - full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Hasn't the window closed in some european countries already though? does that mean they can sell but not buy or would an extension open up the markets all over europe again?

Surely the 5pm uk time deadline is for all countries? The premier league are in talks with the fa and fifa about extending the deadline - weather related problems with medicals???

No apparently some countries chose not to extend the deadline. says so somewhere on here anyway.

Agreed Nicko, the chances of us going down have rocketed with that news. I would be amazed if we didn't sign anybody in midfield. We were short before that news, so compounded, we are in deep trouble.

Very disappointing.

why didnt the window close on saturday night anyway? and why should it be further extended? :angry2:

the 31st was a saturday and paperwork cant be finalised or something like that, thats why it was extended to 5pm or maybe even later now

It says in today's LET that Dunny is playing through the pain barrier due to a reaction from his achilles op. With his fitness suspect and Bert out we need to bring in at least one midfielder in IMO.

Not just in yours. In the opinion of most fans and for a long time. However, what seems blindingly obvious to us seems to be ignored by the powers that be. There has never been a hint that we are being linked to a midfielder and we needed one before this latest problem.

My only guess is that BS and Vogel have made up? Perhaps we'll see more of him?

I agree we have had a midfield problem for a long time. We never really replaced Sav and Reidy has continued to have his injury problems. Plus with an ageing Tugs and the situation with Dunny our midfield has looked far from solid.

Its worrying that we haven't been linked to any midfielders, either cheap ones or some higher profile ones if Sam decides to sell Roque.

Im going to be seriously concerned, if Cruz goes and no replacement comes in, and no midfielder is signed to replace Bert! Now im thinking, maybe we should have gone for Nolan. Actually, now im thinking maybe we sell Cruz, and bring in a couple of midfielders instead of a replacement striker, diouf can then play up front.

didn't you know gumboots? Vogel is a world class CM. It was only Ince that couldn't see this because he hated him andheld a grudge against him.

If that were true it still wouldn't be exciting.
