OJRovers Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I think the way it is going to work is by 5pm: * Fax papers to FA saying that agreement is in place to buy X player * Request additional time to have medical due to X player not being able to travel due to weather problems * Medical etc takes place say tomorrow, if X player passes medical then deal goes through and if he fails deal is cancelled. * Clubs must also send a text to Stroke Boy on Sky Sports prior to the 5pm deadline. Then its official.

RibbleValleyRover Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Keane having medical at Spurs. Spurs, what a joke of a club. Defoe, Keane and Chimbonda all being brought back...
nicko Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Forgive me for taking this off Rovers again but I'm curious as to what Liverpool will do up front if Keane goes back to Spurs? Surely if Torres gets crocked again they've only got Ngog and Kuyt. Saviola on loan is favourite...with Everton taking Jo on loan. Two dead-beat South Americans is the sum total of Merseyside's window. Credit crunch?
Blue n White Rover Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 If Roque stays it's a good window for us I reckon. Kept hold of our star striker, bought in a RW which we have been crying out for. Our only position not to have been strengthened is RB. However, Ooijer and Simpson can play there, although aren't very good.
MancVillan Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Spurs, what a joke of a club. Defoe, Keane and Chimbonda all being brought back... To be fair though, all good re-signings, unfortunately.

Agreed - I will be glad if we keep hold of RSC rather than lose him at this stage, have a war chest, and so far that we know, there isn`t a feasible target to do business with at this late stage. Who knows, maybe the versatile Mr Warnock may get a shot at right back with Givet at left back - but I rather presume we are stuck with Ooijer at righ back to see the season through !
Oklahoma Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Regarding Pedro Mendes, he is in his second club this year (played for Portsmouth in the FA Community shield.) He can't play for a third team.
Guest Kamy100 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 If it does happen that the window closes and we haven't signed a central midfielder then we will end up regretting this decision.
roversmad95 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 hi nicko.. any truth in this... Marco Zoro - Benfica to Blackburn Rovers - Deal completed subject to Work Permit being granted - Deal off after Work Permit rejected
socngill Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Regarding Pedro Mendes, he is in his second club this year (played for Portsmouth in the FA Community shield.) He can't play for a third team. Has this rule ever actually been upheld????
alexanders Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Portsmouth are certainly busy this window: 12.45: BREAKING NEWS... Portsmouth have confirmed the signing of midfielder Angelos Basinas who joins fellow Greek Theofanis Gekas at the club... more to follow...
Iceman Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 A central midfielder please Sam! Keep Cruz, but sign a midfielder. Nicko, why was Zoro not granted a work permit? He seems a regular for his country, so shouldnt have had problems obtaining a permit.
LDRover Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 If it does happen that the window closes and we haven't signed a central midfielder then we will end up regretting this decision. Well said Kamy. It cannot be underestimated how important the next 12 hours are for the future of Blackburn Rovers Football Club.
LeChuck Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Portsmouth are certainly busy this window: 12.45: BREAKING NEWS... Portsmouth have confirmed the signing of midfielder Angelos Basinas He was a very good player a few years back, no idea what's like now at 33 though.
Oklahoma Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Has this rule ever actually been upheld???? In Portugal, one team has already had 6 points deducted because they used a player that was in his third team of the season. Nicko, just thought that I should let you know that Miguel Veloso missed today's training with no justification. Maybe he is pushing for a transfer,
Majiball Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 * Clubs must also send a text to Stroke Boy on Sky Sports prior to the 5pm deadline. Then its official. I hope they all text him at once I reckon his head would explode. Is there any way to watch SSN online????
nicko Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 MENDES...could play for a third club...the Portsmouth appearance was unofficial. ZORO...probably would not get a work permit...why bother with him in the first place?...no good.
ihateburnley Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 If it does happen that the window closes and we haven't signed a central midfielder then we will end up regretting this decision. Agreed. Dunn - Good player but can't be relied upon to play week in week out Andrews - Hasn't done too much wrong, but looks very very average Grella - Was awful against Bolton, and he doesn't look upto the standard both in terms of fitness and quality Tugay - The legend is still good here and there and changed the game on Wednesday, but is not a first teamer Vogel - Demoted to kitman and has since gone AWOL Mokoena - Hopefully he's on his way - simply not good enough Reid - Injured long term Emerton - Injured long term We need to get rid of Mokoena today, even if it's on-loan for the rest of the season and send him packing in the summer. Our midfield needs a major overhaul which obviously isn't going to happen until the summer at the earliest, but we certainly need to bring in some quality and some CREATIVITY. With the strikers we have currently got, a midfield signing with an eye for a killer pass and a bit of pace could drastically transform our season for the better. Even if Roque does go today, I'd rather us go out and bring in a proven quality midfielder than just make do with what we have got in midfield and bring in an inferior striker.

Ste B Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I hear that Stroke Boy is jumping up and down in the corridors of Sky as he now can have is "theatrical performance" between 5pm and midnight. The performance will include heart stopping moments and mysterious phone calls/texts whilist on air, heck he may as well go the whole hog and say it sponsered by Orange. Poor man, he got snowed in this morning !!
donis1410 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Nicko, if BFS gave you a call and said "Nicko my chap, we need to sort out our centre midfield, now you know that the trust is tight, who would you recommend to me?" who would you say could do the job, apart from Stroke Boy that is!!!!
