As an aside to the riveting (lack of) action that Deadline Day seems to bring - I think Roque has handled himself very well throughout this whole Man City/Spurs transfer debacle. At no stage has he bad-mouthed Blackburn Rovers, he could have handed in a transfer request but didn't, and has done well on the pitch when called upon (especially considering that he still isn't 100% match fit after his injury).

I'm delighted at the prospect of having (at least) another four months of Roque Santa Cruz in a Blackburn shirt.

As someone at Stoke City is being indiscreet or playing games...it was the Potters who tried for Chris McCann today...and were told to 'do one.'

If they fail to get Joe Ledley they can bring the £6 million back to Burnley and have another attempt.

You can say that again matey : the lack of investment in new players confirms my gut feeling that the Jersey boys do not really care whether the club stays in the Prem.

Talking of guts, the people at the Rovers have absolutely busted their guts all January looking for players who are better than what we have and can make an immediate impact.

When the window closes, again like January last year, we will struggle to see any players who actually moved who could realistically have come to Rovers who would meet those two criteria.

The window isn't closed yet and the Rovers are still working very hard but the odds are against them.

City have been an absolute blight trying to get Roque on the extreme cheap- don't believe the numbers you see in the papers but in this instance, do believe JFK who blasted them about the numbers being talked about for Given when at the time, City had offered £4m.

Keeping RSC is a major result in my view.

EXTENSION UPDATE...

The FA have four people in their registrations department.

Only one has turned up for work.

No decision yet on an extension.

Amateur hour.

Just the usual, bit of snow and the whole country grinds to a halt.

Nicko, what is the situation with Bent at the moment?

I would imagine that once Keane is signed...and done his medical...that Spurs will try to sell him to the highest bidder.

All the best with that one.

Wonder if Spurs will leave the Keane deal late just to stuff Liverpool.

Just a thought.

Very disappointing window for rovers. It would have been nice to see some genuinely good cover coming in but such is life. I'm happy with both Diouf and Givet and I do want Roque to stay but with Emo's injury I get the impression that there has been no change whatsoever, especially with letting Derbs go.

Whoever is behind the dealings at Rovers, whether its BS or JW or the board, they have some serious questions to answer from at least some of the fans who have now surely seen another window pass by without adding some desperate cover for our squad. At the same time, all we see is everybody else strengthen around us when we are in a very poor position amongst them.

For those who would argue that if the quality aint there then there's no point adding to the squad, my debate would be that we actually need some squad players. Certainly in midfield. There is no excuse for once again not being able to deliver a couple of loan signings at the very least.

I'm not so sure. I get the feeling Sam might be doing an "Ince" (feet up by the fire on deadline day).

We will see. This was deduced in August when we were inactive on deadline day.

(awaits public lambasting) :D
