khiz is way better than ben haim..................don't understand how 3 managers can underestimate the guy so much. As for diouf he'd walk into our team, not a great complement though. If he ever recaptures wc2002 form he'll be 100x the striker and finisher roberts could ever dream of being. He's got pace so he'll do.

ben haim deal might actually have some truth to it, with the whole roque and man city thing..........hopefully we get one of those deals where the former club subsidises wages..........free transfer to chelsea = massive wages.

I'll say it again. If the fans accept a lowlife scumbag like Diouf who literally spits in fans' faces, then we've last all pride and self-respect.

It would be funny to see you become the refuge of former Bolton Wanderers players such as Ben Haim and Diouf - particularly in view of the venom directed in Diouf's direction by Rovers fans over the years. Both decent footballers by the way.

But imagine the number of burst blood vessels on here if you sign Davies and Nolan, as is being rumoured. I wouldn't be laughing though, as I don't want to lose either of them. Particularly Davies.

We'll see. Many twists and turns yet, I reckon.

I should think in these circumstances that Big Sam would be looking at wantaway Spurs players for quality. Stories are surfacing that Harry wants a significant chunk of his players shipped, and these players include or could include Hutton, Kevin Boateng, Adel Taarabt, Ricardo Rocha and even Hossam Ghaly on reasonable prices, all of whom would do a job for us at this point in time..

Opinions?

Yup. Spurs are an absolute bloody gold mine for players. Change their manager every year and a half on average, sign a lot of talented footballers, then make them play rubbish, then kick the manager out and it all begins again!

Lots of people who could do very well for us if they are managed correctly. Hutton would be one. I always think Zakora should play better than he does for Spurs. I like huddlestone. Basically whoever they are looking to sell are worth a look as they don't buy too many turnips, they just somehow destroy their confidence! That said we should do better than Ghaly.

Hi Zulu. I must admit one of my reasons for not wanting Sam in the summer was the possible acquisition of the players you mention, particularly Spit. However, Sam is here now, and we have to get on with it. Be funny if Kevin Nolan came though, he has derided Rovers on many occasions and said outright how much he hates us.

Funny old game, eh?

Ben Haim is a center back. How do we expect to play him right back, as it just would be a similar scenario to Ooijer at right back as is now?

Also, out of the Spurs exile sheet, Alan Hutton is brilliant, if injury prone, and would be a much better option for right back!

Can't understand the Zurab situation. Can't go but gets overlooked and replacements shipped in move above him. A fine ball playing Centre Half who reads the game well, organises and is quicker than our current C/B's. Rovers record with him playing is excellent I believe.

Indeed.

More common sense from Mr. Zulu.

Funny how an "out-of-town expert" can contribute far more to the debate than most of our self-annointed hometown Cicerones.

Sorry if this has already been asked...

Nicko said to ask people from Bolton about Diouf, so Zulu, what's your opinion? I know you have said he is a decent footballer but was his last season at Bolton as bad as suggested? Would he be a good 'relegation fight' signing?

Under normal circumstances I wouldn't really want him in a Rovers' shirt, but beggars can't be choosers and all that.

Let's be realistic here guys... I dont think any of us care who BFS brings in as long as we get out of the predicament that we're currently in. Hughesy walked in to the same scenario after Souness left and even on this site we were questioning the purchases of the likes of Nelsen & Samba. Well look at how they turned out.

I dont care who the eleven are that he puts out, as long as were start climbing the table. At this stage I'd be happy to finish in 16th and start a proper rebuild in the summer when they'll be more time to sort things out as well as having better chances to sign new players. It's all about the Blue 'n White, not who's wearing them.

Just a quick one Nicko, is there any truth in the Diouf stories or is it simply agents using the press to engineer a move because he's unhappy at Sunderland?

Does anyone contribute anything to the Bolton forum, I presume they do have one? As zulu does a good job here.

The thing is, as much as people hated BFS he has so far done a good job. The same with Diouf, he is a bloody idiot, and not a player we would like at the club but right now he might be a very good signing. He will want to prove a point(hmm where have i heard that before, benni, roque, bellamy) and that is to our advantage me thinks.

4million for both ben haim and diouf-you cant really go wrong with..

ben haim would be a good replacement for the ageing andre ooijer-altho he is slow(like slow) he is good at reading the game and would be a good signing..

diouf-can play in different positions-has some decent pace on him-its his dirty antics that put me off...

anyone who we buy i trust sam allardyce..

if Diouf starts playing well you will all love him pretty quickly, and you know that deep inside

you would love Adolf Hitler if he scored 20 goals a season

I think i'd draw the line at Hitler  . In my opinion that Jewish joke is in very bad taste.

Like I said re Diouf, beggars can't be choosers, and if he helps get us out of this situation then yeah I will appreciate him.

Edit: remove part of quote.

Can't see that Ben Haim will bring anything at all to the party, imo he's no better than the players we have at the Club already.

At 2m though Diouf would probably be an excellent signing as long as it wasn't as a straight replacement for 18m Roque going out.

I do have my doubts though about these rumours and as to whether Sam is only looking at ex Bolton players. Could it just be a case of lazy journalism linking us with them?

Diouf would bring in much needed pace and another dimension to our attacking play.

Im sure we will appreciate him more if he is at our club. He is talented, and tricky and let opposition fans hate him playing for us.

Ben Haim was always an alright defender, but dont know about him at right back. If he is brought in for center back, then I dont know what that means for poor old Zurab who I rate very highly.

I think it is a case of lazy journalism in the case of players like Nolan and Davies. However, I can't help thinking there is something in the Diouf and Ben Haim stories, especially because Sam seemed to get the best out of Diouf and he is cheap and available. As for Ben Haim, if we are planning on trying to get a cash+player deal for Roque I can see that happening.
