67splitscreen Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Ben Haim is a possible...but there are other clubs in...biggish fee...huge wages. Man City getting very busy...Bridge in today...another one tomorrow...but still not offered for Roque...yet. Maybe MH has had second thoughts after the way Sturridge performed last week.

Guest Kamy100 Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 There is no way that City are going to let Sturridge go, they are on the verge of sorting out a new deal for him. Sam Looking at A Couple Of Players and Wants To Move Quickly
nicko Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 There has been a bid for Sturridge in the last two days...don't know who from. Chelsea and Villa tried before. I would take him in a heartbeat.

Iceman Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Im worried about this Ben Haim move, with rumours of clubs bidding for Samba. Could it be Sam wanting Ben Haim to replace Samba? I hope not, as i still say Samba will be an outstanding centre half. Im still concerned about no names being mentioned for the righy wing. Nicko, any names being looked at for right wing, and is Pennant still a possibility?
AJW Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 routledge has been recalled by villa because another club have agreed a fee for him

Billy Castell Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I think that'll be Cardiff or someone like that. Routledge has never settled down and built on his early reputation has he? Perhaps he is a shady character who doesn't fit in anywhere.
nicko Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Any clue about the prize? I don't know what Man City want...in the summer it was about £8 million when Chelsea asked and Villa were turned down. He is out of contract in the summer and that would be some tribunal if he went elsewhere and a fee was set. He is the best English kid of his age in that position, so it's a tough one to judge. City don't have to sell, so it's down to the kid to make waves. He doesn't have an agent, his dad does his 'work' for him.
AJW Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11676_4733107,00.html "significant six figured incentive based transfer fee" that's probably nowt then is it? because the incentives will be promotion , international caps etc

Is Hughes entirely behind the Bridge move Nicko, or are City bringing players on the sly they know can play under Jose Mourinho?
Iceman Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Dont want to get anybody in trouble, but what has Wayne Bridge got to do with Rovers. Post 403 clearly says no asking about other players linked to other clubs. Anyway Diouf can play right wing yes, but for Senegal he was used as a striker. So im assuming Diouf is just a short term solution, unless he does extremely well down the right. This is if he signs for Rovers of course.

Don't want to start a debate on the fine points of that...but Bridge joining Man City does have a Rovers impact...because Warnock WON'T be going there.
John Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Seems like Sam is trying to pull off a major signing because he says a new face would give everyone a lift around the place. Hardly going to be a random foreigner....
herbergeehh Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Sturridge would be some addition to our front line..
Fife Rover Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Videos are for the gullible Pafell. Nobody videos the crap bits about a player do they? Obviously they don't; there wouldn't be much point in doing that would there? However where ever they do highlight a passage of skilfull play, then surely that proves one thing.........that the player actually posesses these skills. This is always a good factor for consideration in selecting a player I would have thought.
Iceman Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Warnock has been linked to a few other clubs, but Bridge to City story looks a certainty. I dont think Warnock to City was ever going to happen in any case, whether Bridge signs or not. Mr Nixon, if Roque signs for City as i expect he would,is there a chance of an equally big name striker arriving or will Sam try and get as much players with the Roque money?
j166429 Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Does any one have any news about Ooijer? Is he likely to be transferred? Also what does everybody think of him? Should we sell? Should we keep him? Personally I've never been really convinced by his abilities.
joey_big_nose Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Seems like Sam is trying to pull off a major signing because he says a new face would give everyone a lift around the place. Hardly going to be a random foreigner.... Well he has done it once before when he brought Anelka to bolton with enormously positive results. Maybe he is trying the same trick with someone else? Not sure who would fit the bill though.
Iceman Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Depends on the way he said it. It could mean that a new player could create an exciting atmosphere. Dont think he said “THIS player“ referring to a particular player he is about to sign.
nicko Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 It's a totally mad mental day...so will need to go 'dark' for a few hours. However as a special treat there will be an 11 o'clocker. Some Rovers content. No further news or PMs til then...it really is busy. Until then...

Should we keep him? Personally I've never been really convinced by his abilities. I like him at centreback. Not a fan at right back unless we are playing a "hoof it wide" team like Stoke or Bolton. Too slow, not comfortable with his positioning at right back. He should really have been starting at centreback ahead of Nelsen for the last year. However the Kiwi now seems to have recovered his form so the chance is gone.
