EwoodGlory Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I would hope the club has the sense to put a time limit on any clause? If they match the clause on the final day or 2 we could be in real trouble. Common sense would be that any clause is not active during the last week of any window. Fingers crossed.

roversmum Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Wasn't there some slightly dodgy deal involving City and Portsmouth last window? I remember feeling somewhat aggrieved about it at the time. oooooo dear, off topic. Sorry, Mods........ :'(
Bazzanotsogreat Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Wasn't there some slightly dodgy deal involving City and Portsmouth last window? I remember feeling somewhat aggrieved about it at the time. Yes it was the Benjani deal; I think? Something to do with not been completed in time, amongst other things
EwoodGlory Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 The Benjani deal went through late / after the deadline.
thenodrog Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Does any one have any news about Ooijer? Is he likely to be transferred? Also what does everybody think of him? Should we sell? Should we keep him? Personally I've never been really convinced by his abilities. We can only sell him if he has been replaced first, otherwise we need him.
unsall Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Completely out of our hands if there is a release clause, they can wait until deadline day swoop and leave us with money but no time to spend. Release clause does not come into force untill summer,we don't have to sell in January,so expect a bid very shortly.............
thenodrog Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Hmmm, firstly no one is world class at 17 and even if they are we hear about them pretty quickly. I've never heard of this guy and don't think he'd be ready for the Prem for quite a few years. Besides who's calling him world class? His sporting director who's obviously in line for a big financial bonus if he can get him into a premiership team. Aha! A fellow cynic.
rovers1995 Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Release clause does not come into force untill summer,we don't have to sell in January,so expect a bid very shortly............. how do you know this
philo Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Technically if they bid on the last day what legalities stop us from taking time 'processing' the bid, say till 00:01am? Maybe nobody was around to sort it. Hypothetically of course, just wondered if Nicko knew if that sort of thing ever went on? the window closes 2/5/09 at 5pm so don't u mean 5:01pm
EwoodGlory Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Release clause does not come into force untill summer,we don't have to sell in January,so expect a bid very shortly............. Is this definite? if so will spice things up a bit, we might ask for £20m +. Though the rumours are that Villa is going to City, i'm not to sure they would play together? Might have to wait to that one is sorted before they go for Rocky or not.
thenodrog Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 And if I was Allardyce, the longer any club takes to make a bid for RSC, the greater the chance of me telling them what to do with their bid!! Ultimately I doubt it would be Sam's decision.

Nothing can be definite unless your roque or John Williams, but the source it came from is very close to the club........
Pugg Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 the window closes 2/5/09 at 5pm so don't u mean 5:01pm I think we can safely say that yes, that is what he means.
gumboots Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I think we can safely say that yes, that is what he means. Isn't that date wrong though anyway either american or English style?
Pugg Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Isn't that date wrong though anyway either american or English style? Yeah it is, should be 2nd Feb. It is quite funny how he was picking TCO up on a mistake and then made one with the date himself . My reply was to the 5.01pm. If the window closes at 5pm, i'm pretty sure TCO would mean 5.01pm instead of one minute past midnight. No idea why it would be 5 instead of midnight. Is it definitely 5?
T4E Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Technically if they bid on the last day what legalities stop us from taking time 'processing' the bid, say till 00:01am? Maybe nobody was around to sort it. Hypothetically of course, just wondered if Nicko knew if that sort of thing ever went on? No one is going to leave their switchboard/fax machine/email/whatever unmanned in the final hours of the transfer window - every player has a price and all clubs will be interested in hearing what others have to say. I very much doubt the scenario you paint would occur.
1864roverite Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 If City are to break the top 4 then we are going to see a massive player turnover at the club which will not be pretty. Current squad playerwise are only good enough for a top 10 finish. Current squad PLUS Bridge again is only going to get them a top 10 finish. Current squad PLUS Bridge and RSC again will not see them finish higher than 5th or lower than 10th. Thats an outlay of some £32million added to the £32.5m for Robinhhod and £10m for SWP, that takes Hughes's spending to around £75m for a top 10 finish. His front line would consist of RSC, Vassell, Benjani, Jo, Caceidas, Bojinov, Sturridge, Evans, Castilla and Robinhood. Exciting forward line, but what about the case for the defence ? World class keeper in the Peter Cech range of goalies will cost upwards of £25m. They need a right back and two top class centre backs to even start thinking about a top 4 challenge and that is going to cost a cool £50m for the best of not more. Then we have to look at the defensive midfielder as well as the WORLD CLASS central midfielders they would require to even challenge Villa and again, that is going to cost in the region of some £60m if they are serious. Thats a cool £200m PLUS just to challenge the 4th spot in the league. Then there is the management - Hughes is most definately NOT the person to manage that lot. SSNews breaking news CITY BID FOR RSC IMMINENT
Mc Love Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 SSNews breaking news CITY BID FOR RSC IMMINENT Really??
AggyBlue Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Really?? That's according to the man himself. Roque has been spouting again to another radio station.
nicko Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Quotes in South America...but still no hard cash from Man City.
ScottishRover Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Will be gutted to see him go, but would love to see what Sam can do with£20+ million (if he gets it)
AJW Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 surely only a matter of time nicko? hughes looks to be moving quickly to get his targets in
Pugg Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I wish they would just bloody hurry up. Just bid and get it over with.
