LeChuck Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Well that was all a bit of an anti-climax! Nothing there that hadn't been in the papers already.

Hi Mack Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Well that was all a bit of an anti-climax! Nothing there that hadn't been in the papers already. To be fair we have to basically stand back and see how things go! were in a position now where if we go for a player the chances are that if any other premiership teams are in for him, we will be outbid and will miss out, we simply cant compete in the money stakes, Just hope SA pulls a big rabbit out of the hat!
Hughesy Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 After Lucash running to the blackburn end and cupping his ear to the boo-boys - I Wouldnt want the penalty giver anywhere near ewood again.
JonnyH Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 SSN now reporting that RSC misquoted - it should've read he's happy at Rovers...wish SSN would shut up - never mind anyone else!! No wonder SSN get all the big stories and the big names. People HAVE to talk to them to clarify their inaccurate stories! Ps Though I forgive Georgie and Millie
philipl Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 there will be a lot of bed wetting over perceived missed opportunities this window. The reality check will always be the list of actual transfers done in the PL At the moment NIL
Hughesy Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 What about the two serbs at united? The full back at pompey?
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I'm pretty confident Samba will move eventually, but now is not the time. He has all the attributes needed to be a very, very good defender, bar experience and concentration, both of which will come with time. If we can hold onto him for a few more seasons I can see us getting his value well above £10m. EDIT: Also Phil, Manchester United have 2, Bridge is pretty much a done deal, Diarra has also moved.
RevidgeBlue Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport...icle2090544.ece If Sam is even vaguely interested in that greedy over-rated waste of space who tried his best to screw us over completely last time he was here - he's not half the manager I thought he was. There's only one reason the 'ammers want to get the greedy barsteward off the wage bill - he's no bloody good! Ex Bolton players, Lucash, I hope it's simply lazy journalists (no slight intended on nicko) who don't know who the real targets are as opposed to anything else. At the moment NIL Keep up the good work, apart from Bridge ManUre have signed two Serbs for a reported 16m.

my_name_is_Earl Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Interesting move for Lucash. Must admit, I laughed every time he messed up for the hammers but at the same time, if a good deal was to be made, i'd take him back. £50,000 is a lot of money and I can't see us offering him that but if the deal is right then I think he would be a good addition. Personally though, i'd be looking at younger, cheaper options. There must be a better deal for right back then Lucash coming back, surely? just in case that isn't clear - potentially a good move, but surely better options on the cards

Keep up the good work, apart from Bridge ManUre have signed two Serbs for a reported 16m. How did he try to screw us over? By telling the truth that he was going to leave when his contract was up and then staying on without complaint when asked to stay until a replacement was found? By missing few matches and always being reliable? He was very honest with his intentions - we could have sold him much earlier for more money, but the choice wasn't his. Is he the best right back in the league? Not at all. Can he do a good job and be reliable? Yes.
RevidgeBlue Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 So Sam becomes a bad manager after 1 (possible signing)? I'll lose a lot of confidence in him if he breaks the bank for us wage wise to sign Lucash. Someone like Bellamy - that would be a different matter. Notwithstanding he would cost a lot more.
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Interesting move for Lucash. You'd rather have Lucash over Emerton for the right back position?
tony gale's mic Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Even when Lucash was doing relatively well for us I felt he gave away far too many penalties and now at West Ham he gives them away all the time. Someone described him as reliable but to me that's the last thing he is. He might have a good game and make a few good tackles but then he'll committ an absolute howler and cost us goals. I'd much rather have Bert there.

I don't understand why people don't get this, since we got to the Premiership he's the only player I can think of who tried to run down his contract for his own personal gain so he could leave on a free. By way of contrast if the worst comes to the worst and Roque leaves, at least we can thank him for standing by us in August to the extent he signed a deal which will guarantee us a king's ransom.

I'd rather have Neill there - the Rovers curse has ruined better players careers than Lucas'. This obviously if he's on free transfer. 2½ year deal might cost 5-6M, with which we can't buy (and pay wages for) anyone better.

Where did nicko suggest we might not be able to find a right winger? I'd rather we signed a right winger on loan/temporary signing than bringing Neill back. Having a proper right winger there would almost certainly strengthen our side even if it wasn't by that much, unless they were complete rubbish, whereas I feel having Neill at right back as opposed to Bert would potentially weaken it.

With all the scouting we have done, numerous trials and Allardyce's rumoured 'decent contacts' we should be able to find someone to do a job. If we can find a right winger we can move Bert back to right back, thus killing two birds with one stone.
ebenrocks Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 If Neill did come back does anyone think he'd be hankering for the captains armband? Was captain here and became captain at west ham... might not take kindly to taking orders from Nelsen. am worried he'll think he'll have some god given right to be captain again.
stuwilky Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Keep up the good work, apart from Bridge ManUre have signed two Serbs for a reported 16m. Man United have a work permit for one of them, his paperwork has not been completed. Bridge has not yet signed.
RevidgeBlue Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Man United have a work permit for one of them, his paperwork has not been completed. Bridge has not yet signed. You say tomayto, I say tomato. Fair enough, if those deals don't actually go through.
stuwilky Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 You say tomayto, I say tomato. Fair enough, if those deals don't actually go through. They may well go through eventually, it might be tomorrow, it might be February 2nd. They have no, as yet, happened. Has there been a single transfer in to the Premier League yet?
RevidgeBlue Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Has there been a single transfer in to the Premier League yet? The 4m full back at Pompey made permanent? Ignoring that it is still only 1.27 a.m on 3rd of Jan and already the 12m transfer of Bridge and the 16m transfer of two Serbians to ManUre look far more likely than not. Philip was inferring nothing was happening.
stuwilky Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Philip was inferring nothing was happening. Simon, as you say, its god knows what time in the morning. Nowt has yet happened, as stated. And unless you've got a crystal ball, I would suggest that neither of us know what will happen.
