I've got an Idea Warnock could play in midfield.

Lets hope not only 2 ( very late goals ) conceeded in 3 games since he s gone back to left back

he had an initial impact in midfield but we wont get clear of safety playing people out of position too long, he ll

get exposed over the rest of the season

Both the foreign players are based abroad.

Lucas Neill is an interesting thought...but his wages are huge...I am suspicious of that too as his agent is Peter Harrison, who is not exactly on talking terms with Sam any more.

:rover: i wonder why they are not talking :brfcsmilie:

Sorry I was being sarcastic.

Prior to Sam's arrival and Warnock being put back where he made the England squad, we shipped 11 goals in 3 games so at present I'll take two late goals in 3 games.

RSC is as big a star in Paraguay as Beckham is over here- so of course he is subject to the sort of intense media interest Blackburn folk aren't used to.

He could have been much bigger over here if we didn't keep sticking that stupid Santa hat on and marketed him properly. My wife still takes deep slow breaths whenever he's on TV!

TARGETS - One is a very good player who may be available on loan with a view to a buy. He is a left-sided defender. The other was due to play this weekend but is not. He is expensive and can play as a defensive midfield enforcer.

Maniche seem to tick the boxes, but can't be that expensive at 31 yrs old.

Samba is very quick, very strong and is good in the tackle and excellent in the air. He has all the raw attributes to make a top class defender, but he's only 24 years old and central defenders don't start to reach their peak for another 2 or 3 years. Yes he'll have off periods, he's still learning but has looked great again recently and selling him would represent a massive mistake IMO as I think he'll be rated as one of the top defenders in the league by the time he's 28.

Just started posting this myself - almost word for word so deleted it - his age means he's still only an outstanding propect! MUST KEEP! The B...African Beckenbauer!

The part I never really got with Samba was why did his previous club let him go for 400,000. I don't disagree TGM beat me too it as well, but why would they let him leave given that they surely they could see it too?

nicko all this talk about a left back, does that mean we expect to SELL Warnock? Or are we looking to push him upfield a bit, or how exactly do you see the situation?

I think you need competition in that area, plus Warnock can play midfield - and if a big bid comes in it would be better to have his replacement in the building.

What about Olsson, he needs the oppurtunity to develop, he has potential.

For once Nicko I hope your wrong we need a RB far more than a Warnock back-up.

I would like to loan him out, probably to a championship club...I dont think Olsson is quite good enough yet.

I agree, playing week in, week out in a tough physical league would be beneficial. But at Rovers he can train with quality players every day, and personally, I think Olsson can cement a left back place next season. Five months playing regularly would do him good though, and it doesn't look like Allardyce will play him just yet. Rightly so, perhaps, in our position.

Was he not on loan at Inter last year???

If so he could be available?

According to Wiki:

On July 2008, Maniche returned to Atlético Madrid.

Considering the fact that he was at loan at Internazionale may mean that he isn't a "key player" in the Atletico squad which means he might be available on loan this year as well.

I don't fancy him and hope he is not the player Nicko is talking about. He didn't do especially well for Chelsea.

Nicko just out of interest. These 2 foreign players, when would you be willing to reveal who they are. When we have actually made a move or before??

I think there should be progress on one next week. There's another club after this player and a couple of agents fighting over it. So rather than complicate things just now I will wait until it becomes obvious which club he has chosen.

I can't go into the other name at all until his current form is checked. It's a blow that he is not playing this weekend.

The fact that no hard-and-fast moves have been made for anyone suggests that Rovers are taking these two players seriously.

There is a Ben Haim interest, but it's not gone THAT far yet...and probably won't until one club agrees a deal and the rest then have a decision to make.

Now we have a more assured manager, Olsson could be a fine deputy. If I remember rightly, he got skimmed in a couple of games due to a lack of cover from Peds. Big Sam has everyone doubling up now, which would give the lad more protection and the confidence to develop as a player.

I think left-back and defensive midfielder are our least priorities. We've got Warnock/Olsson for one, and Grella, Vogel, and Tugay for the other.

I agree - If I was to decide I would bring in a right wing and attacking midfielder.

10.28 Bayern Munich have won the race to land Hamburg striker Ivica Olic. The Croatia interntional will move to Allianz Arena as a free agent in the summer. A host of Europe's top clubs, including some from England, had been tracking Olic's availability.

Do you know if Rovers have been in the race Nicko?
