ScottishRover Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I think there should be progress on one next week. There's another club after this player and a couple of agents fighting over it. So rather than complicate things just now I will wait until it becomes obvious which club he has chosen. I can't go into the other name at all until his current form is checked. It's a blow that he is not playing this weekend. The fact that no hard-and-fast moves have been made for anyone suggests that Rovers are taking these two players seriously. There is a Ben Haim interest, but it's not gone THAT far yet...and probably won't until one club agrees a deal and the rest then have a decision to make. Thanks for the reply Nicko. The other club after one of the players, can you say if its another premier league club?

Eddie Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 If we don't sign a right midfielder I will be lost for words.
T4E Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Hi Nicko Any news on the Sturridge and Defoe situations?, and any news from Villa?, are they really looking at Bent as the Mirror suggested the other day?. Cheers We hardly knew ye.
SalifouMagic Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 We hardly knew ye. "Hardly"?, you don't know me at all , but yes pardon me i've been lurker for a while and this is a fantastic site, Blackburn are a very decent club and good luck to you guys for the rest of the season (except when you face Villa ) , you've got a goldmine in Nicko so fair play lads, he's been brilliant on this site.
tchocky Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Maniche seem to tick the boxes, but can't be that expensive at 31 yrs old. What boxes? Midfield enforcer? Nope. Expensive? In all likelyhood, not at all (transfer fee wise). Wouldn't want him at Rovers in our current predicament. I can't help but think that Sam is working on a right back as his first priority. Be very strange if it wasn't.
T4E Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 As nice as all that is, coming with your first post onto to Nicko thread to ask about Villa wasn't a good start. This thread is Rovers related only, if you want Villa news either send a PM or stick to SSN.

Being rude ? - Defensive midfielder - Sam likes ageing players with their last pay-day - isn't playing tonight for Atletico Madrid

Taggart Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Can Ben Haim play right back? Nicko - is there scope here for Onoua and Ben Haim to be used as makeshifts for the transfer of Roque to Citeh - cash plus player swaps ?
SalifouMagic Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 As nice as all that is, coming with your first post onto to Nicko thread to ask about Villa wasn't a good start. This thread is Rovers related only, if you want Villa news either send a PM or stick to SSN. In all fairness my first questions were about players non relating to Villa who Nicko has previously spoken about on this very thread, and the rumour about Bent originated from his paper so i figured i'd ask about it, yeah it might have been a little crass jumping straight into the Nicko thread but i'd rather by real than waste time on threads that you guys take seriously, in the summer i saw opposition fans asking questions to Nicko so i never envisaged any problems, i guess it's up to Nicko, if he wants to reply he will, if not then fair enough.
Zulu Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Can Ben Haim play right back? Yes, he did at Bolton on a couple of occasions. Lacks a bit of pace though. Decent central defender in my opinion. He's not worth £45k per week though, if that particular rumour is true.
SalifouMagic Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Um! try reading post 403! page 21, Cheers Opps, i didn't know about that.. , pardon me mods.

EwoodGlory Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I wonder if there is any possibility of Duff coming back to Rovers? Maybe he's one that Big Sam could rejuvenate. If we don't get a right winger in then he can always play there. He has Premiership experience, obviously injuries could be a worry, Kinnear's comment's just got me thinking. “There are certain players I am trying to sell at the moment so a lot will depend on how much I get back for that.” “There won’t be any surprise exits. None of the big boys will go but other players may, with a value of £16m for three of them.” “It is in Dennis Wise’s quarters at the moment. He is the one wheeling and dealing, he is the one selling them.” Newcastle are also reported to have made a bid for former Rover Barry Ferguson.
mattyboy6000 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I think ... defensive midfielder are our least priorities. We've got .... Grella, Vogel, and Tugay. I'm sorry, what was that? Grella hasn't been fit for long enough this season and there's no guarantee he will ever be fit, Vogel, in my mind could do a job but so far Sam has preferred to give the Axe the holding role (with disasterous consequences!), and Tugay is fine, in 60 minute bursts Unless Vogel is given a chance we definitely need a defensive midfielder, imo. Regardless, we need to get rid of the Axe pronto. Make some cash out of the fact that he is SA captain and finally get rid.
67splitscreen Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I think Duff has been super for the barcodes this last few weeks, even in there hammering with manure when he played on the right, he got some excellent crosses in after skinning the full back. Would certainly put a rocket up MGP backside. I'm sorry, what was that? Hughesy Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Hope not - we dont need another injury prone player! I think all our business will kick off in the next few days when we recieve a bid for RSC. Nicko who is interested in RSC? Is it just City or have Villa come back into it??
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Yes, he did at Bolton on a couple of occasions. Lacks a bit of pace though. Decent central defender in my opinion. He's not worth £45k per week though, if that particular rumour is true. He's about as good as Zurab is at right back ! I.E. no good . Turns like a Brontosaurus. I don't rate him as a centre half either but I've got a Wanderer mate who does, reckons he's class there !
nicko Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Nicko who is interested in RSC? Is it just City or have Villa come back into it?? I am hoping the People will carry the full Roque facts and figures in the morning. If not I will go through it here. It's an interesting situation and explains a few things... Anyway, got to go.
leftfooter Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 "...Kinnear: Newcastle Want Rangers Skipper Barry Ferguson..." Nicko, could this signal the end for Barton at NUFC and would Big Sam be ready to move for him (presuming he's ready to overcome his current fitness issues)?

Oklahoma Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Maniche will probably sign a new deal with Atletico Madrid soon. He went out on loan a year ago but in june returned to be a first tem option.
philipl Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 "...Kinnear: Newcastle Want Rangers Skipper Barry Ferguson..." Nicko, could this signal the end for Barton at NUFC and would Big Sam be ready to move for him (presuming he's ready to overcome his current fitness issues)? He's out until end March and BFS got more grief at NUFC over the lousy judgement in signing and trusting the word of that criminal yob than anything elsde he did or did not do. It is inconeivable that Sam and Barton will ever be at the same club at the same time ever again. Sam slaughtered him publicly for letting him down personally.
tchocky Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Being rude ? Not quite. I just don't agree that he "ticks the boxes". Also, how many players are not playing this weekend?
