Oklahoma Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Gala were linked with him months ago...Kewells already there you see. Based on some powers of deduction, the two foreign players nicko is linking us with play in Spain, France or Portugal. One of them wont play today according to him, and he could be a Mallorca player, an Atletico player, a Sporting player or possibly a player for any of the top French teams. Could nicko give us some more clues like the good old days 1) What positions do they play 2) Their price brackets Why can't he be a player from Valencia, Barcelona or Setubal?

alexanders Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Not quite. I just don't agree that he "ticks the boxes". Also, how many players are not playing this weekend? Brainstorming...... I didn't say it was him I just said that it could be.
Fife Rover Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I'll lose a lot of confidence in him if he breaks the bank for us wage wise to sign Lucash. Someone like Bellamy - that would be a different matter. Notwithstanding he would cost a lot more. I agree with you on the wages issue, but not on the other isues you raised Rev. The last thing we can afford to have is one fairly average player on our books that gets a vastly higher wage than any of our other players some of whom are a lot nearer to being star players than Lucas is. It makes no difference that WHU may be paying some, or even all of his wage, the effect on our dressing room would be more than just disruptive it would be mutinous and understandably so. This must NOT be allowed to happen, and hopefully both Sam and JW will be aware of this danger and will not allow it to happen.
doctorryan Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Hey! We're back! .........And while the site was down Mark Hughes lost again - at home - to lower league opposition. Brilliant! Tomorrow's Nicko article about RSC and his contract may be irrelevant by the time it's printed.
1864roverite Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I have cracked it today. Rovers should have been ar Barca today versus Mallorca but they didnt go as they learned Messi wasnt playing !! tell us its true Nicko
Mc Love Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Well is there gonna be an update or link to mirror story about Roque tonight?
RoverRich Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I noticed someone posted that Ever Banega is not playing this weekend. Isn't he a defensive midfielder? He is on loan at Atletico from Valencia so he may be available to buy. He did cost Valencia 18million Euros though so he would tick the box of being expensive. Just a thought before anyone goes crazy and shoots me down. May be completely wrong but thought I would mention it and see what others think... However, he is a youngster, only 20, which may be another reason for why he is on loan at Atletico. I don't reckon he would actually come to us but would be interesting if we were looking at him or players of a similar level.

LDRover Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Dunno if he's been mentioned elsewhere in this thread but if Gary O'Neil is available for approx 3.5million from Boro we should really try and get him in. Lost his way a bit over the last couple of years but was one of the brightest talents in the country prior to that. At 3.5m would be great value with excellent sell on potential too.
braddock Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 i don't get this place. sooo negative nearly all of the time and always desperdo for an early story that will break in a few days time anyway. you can get on with your life and find out later on and not end up paranoid waiting for some form of development. with the amount of false stories it isnt really worth it. i also hate the fact this place is called a rumour mill. i apologise, i have been away for a while and got me a new profile, whats the news on warnock outwards? apologies if this a popular question, was just wondering

I think the stories state that he wants to go back to Portsmouth. He is only kicking up a fuss because Pompey came in with an offer and it was turned down by Boro.
my_name_is_Earl Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 You'd rather have Lucash over Emerton for the right back position? I would although I can understand why some people would think otherwise. Lucash is stronger and better postionally than Brett. Emo's best position, in my opinion, is centre midfield.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Lucas would lose us more points than he would gain. He gives away an obscene amount of free kicks and penalties. Robbo would have no chance.
greggyk Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Rubbish, the guy may be a prick...but he's a top player. He'll make less mistakes than Ooijer at right back thats for sure
T4E Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Rubbish, the guy may be a prick...but he's a top player. He'll make less mistakes than Ooijer at right back thats for sure He's probably the only player in the Premier League to give away more penalties than ooijer in the last few years. Lucas is a prick, and he's a terrible footballer. We don't need him, to be even talking about giving him £50k a week is beyond belief.
my_name_is_Earl Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Lucas would lose us more points than he would gain. He gives away an obscene amount of free kicks and penalties. Robbo would have no chance. Perhaps. To be honest i'm open to all opinions although I still feel we need a 'proper' right back so Emo can play centre midfield Emo struggles positionally although his flexibility, in general, has to be admired.
Majiball Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Lucas Neill Jan 2007 no its not about the money, he turned down the chance of champions league football and a final appearance. Let him go to Turkey he'll feel at home there.
braddock Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 i still dont understand why we would want lucas neill back, you have to be a goldfish to want him, it'll be davies back next. oojer is very decent, very solid, but if he goes we have emerton. we could do better than neill with around 2mil wisely spent and with 6-8 years in the tank. and the fact he's a c''t, don't want him
AJW Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 i am with tugay 4 england ..the guy is a prick !! and even if he wasn't a prick he is still just an average , run-of-the-mill full back the only reason its being debated is because 1) he is available and 2) we all think we need one . i'd rather stick with simpson

He has all the physical attributes and he's a decent passer and tackler, can also get his head on the end of things. Great engine - needs to be utilised properly.
T4E Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I'd also like to see Emerton shoot from distance a bit more - something he obviously can't do from his normal position(s), but could from the middle.
tcj_jones Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Of course, if we just signed a right midfield, like we desperately need to, then we wouldn't even need a bloody right back!
broadsword Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I'd also like to see Emerton shoot from distance a bit more - something he obviously can't do from his normal position(s), but could from the middle. He has the football equivalent of the yips.
braddock Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 emerton cant dribble so er yeah cant defend, so er yeah why not buy a right winger, keep emzy for 6 months at right back then replace?
