Dont think the SP talked about the Roque story. I reckon its that the clause comes into effect in the summer or something along those lines.

Would like to see what the Express said about Diouf and Chimbonda...

One of the papers linked us with a 17 year old Ghananian whizz kid striker, who is coming on trial. Cant recall his name.

in a way im thankful to ince. he got us allardyce.

but neill not worth it? what do you prefer? relegated or having neill at right back?

chimbonda is potentially a great signing but he will whine a lot when he reach top form, we secure out PL contract and he start getting attention from the media again. we will be wigan mk2 for him. rather him than neill, and if we find no better right back then get one of them but i hope for someone else.

Roque's contract situation...the story was used by the People but squeezed.

It goes like this.

Roque has a price clause at £20 million. He gets an astonishing £5 million out of that figure.

However the clause only kicks in at the end of the season.

If he goes in January Roque has NO rights to any slice of the fee.

So that is what a figure of 'around £18 million' would get him in January...with Rovers still making £15 million from the deal, Roque having to take less [around £3 million, say] but making up for it in higher wages at Man City.

At least that is the plan.

However Man City 0 Forest 3 might just have caused some heavy problems at Middle Eastlands.

By the way that scoreline is a bit similar to Rovers 1 Coventry 4 a year ago.

Is there a common link?

Not suggesting anything sinister, are you Mr Nixon?

You're not saying that player aren't working towards the betterment of their manager, are you?

Like the "Middle Eastlands", nice touch

Wait, the clause kicks in the summer, but we still pay him out right now if someone pays us anything more than 15 million!?! How come?

Why should we pay him something out now?

If he goes in January Roque has NO rights to any slice of the fee.

and this statement are a bit contradictory...

OK, the best way of looking at this is the two possible scenarios - [a] Roque going in the summer and Roque going now.

In [a] if a club offers the £20 million in the summer Roque gets £5 million, Rovers get £15 million. The advantages are that you keep the player until then.

In if a club offers a lower fee now, Rovers will still want £15 million clear while Roque would want as much of the £5 million he is looking forward to getting as possible. So if the fee is £18 million then Roque would want £3 million of that from the sale. He could make up some of the 'lost' £2 million in extra wages.

Of course the down side of is that Mark Hughes might not be around in the summer to pay that money and no-one else will.

So if Rovers want the £15 million from the sale now is probably the time to try and do it.

Presumably as he won't be daft enough to hand in a transfer request, he'll be entitled to some form of pay out due to being sold whilst under contract and "against his wishes"?

What puzzles me is how do these private documents slip into the public domain so that a fairly lowkey journalist (sorry Nixon, but until you've been on Sunday Supplement you're not A list) can write about them? Is it the club that leaks, is it the player, is it the agent, or is it left on a train by someone in the government?

If reports are right that David Villa's agent was at the Man City game, then I think Roque can forget his clauses.

No need to hand in a request.

No need to appear on TV. Too busy getting the stories they discuss...

Better contacts than the telly jokers.

I'd still do it. Whilst i regard him as a genuinely good centre forward, fifteen million is a lot of money for someone who is always injured (last season aside even though he still missed a few games with dodgy knees).

Cash in now and give Sam the money to shape the squad in his own mould so we can move forwards after Ince's ridiculous reign.

I'm not sure on that Nicko, I don't think Villa's agent will have been too impressed with what he saw - maybe Santa will be the best that they can get. After all, how likely is it that City will be in Europe next season? I can't see any of the big boys settling for that...

Hmm Mr Nixon, a player who is supposedly on Barcelona and Real Madrid's shopping list, would choose Man City? Im not saying it wont happen, but whats in it for Villa, apart from a big fat pay day?

Anything in the Chimbonda rumours Nicko?

Money talks. Man City have more than Real or Barca.

Chimbonda is a possible. Good player if his head is screwed on.

The story leaked from Sunderland...they want to start an auction.

There is another club after him and currently more keen.

is bellamy and parker off to man city as well?

loads of players being linked? what about michael owen as well??

Man City have bid for both Bellamy and Parker.

And Arteta.

And Toure.

Uncle Tom Cobley on the list too.

Michael Owen not among them. He would love a big wage and being closer to his horses, but it's not happening.

No doubt Man City has more money, but would Villa be content with mid table football,or would he be happier playing champions league football with the likes of Messi?

Its interesting that Sunderland, are giving players away. 2 bad boys, and you wonder if they have been a bad influence on training and in the dressing room

Bissue, i think has been part of the senior Ghanaian squad. Hasnt played, but is talked about highly. I think Ajax Cape Town, wanted to have a look at him as well when he was about 15. He is in the mould of Appiah, and they expect he will make the senior squad line up soon.

Still dont understand the roque situation. Why would we want to do a deal at 15m now, or 18m and give greedy santa 3m, when we're not obliged to give himany cut?

The way i see it, if roque forces a move now (as he's doing), then we give him the move if a club meets our price, which should be a minimum of 15m, and we should not give him anything. My reasoning is that we should only do a deal that does not leave us worse off than if we sold him for a nett 15m in the summer. Going by this reasoning, if we are going to make 15m in the summer out of a 20m sale, it is only rational for us to sell now (when we do not want to and there is no clause) if we get MORE than 15m. It is therefore logical that if our former manager wants santa cruz that badly, we are actually in a position to push up the price beyond the 20m, which is not in play now, no? And again, even if someone is daft enough to pay over 20m, I don't see why roque should get ANY cut of it now at all, given that he is the one who's engineering the move.

If he wants to go in january the club should make it 100% clear that he is not entitled to any of the fee. that should be the end of the matter. I'd rather take less cash for him than take a higher fee just to give him a chunk of it. Stuff him.. If he wants out than that's his choice, he shouldn't be allowed to engineer a move and then get a massive pay off from us as well.

If City want him they can pay 18 million now, to which Roque gets naff all, or they can wait until the summer when they can get him for 20 million including 5 to roque, surely its easy to see which one will appeal more to City.
