T4E Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I remember linking Boyd with Weightwatchers much to the annoyance of T4E...he is too slow for the Premier League. Mendes is ok but similar to what Rovers have...he's not the kind of defensive sitter Allardyce will go for. I'd only just about forgiven you for it too. The boy is class, utter bobbins at the weekend and still notched with his only two chances. We've not had a finisher as good as him since Shearer, including Benni. Mendes is a great player, can't tackle, can't run, but can see ridiculous passes and only scores screamers. Reminds me of someone.

den Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I don't understand how selling a striker who hasn't been scoring (since Hughes left) for 18m is going to negatively affect our season. Well maybe that's a problem you will have to work out for yourself Bucky. Some have tried to explain, but it's wasted. Much as you didn't understand that Ince was useless
bellamy11 Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Roque is definitely NOT going to be our saviour. The money generated from his sale will. How do you KNOW both of these things for a FACT?
Pugg Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I don't understand how selling a striker who hasn't been scoring (since Hughes left) for 18m is going to negatively affect our season. The problem is, according to many people, Nelsen, Samba, Warnock and half the team should have been sold when Ince was here. However, they improved as soon as the management team changed. We haven't had the opportunity to see if the same applies to Roque. He might just have been suffering from Inceitus. Not only that but we need to look at the service he was getting also. The sale of Bentley had a big, negative impact on Roque's game. However, if Roque wants to go, and when he returns under Sam his form is still poor then I would accept the 18m gladly, as long as we have a replacement lined up. Nicko, this is a bit random but does Kazim Richards still want to come to England? The few times I have seen him he has looked decent. I would like to hear someone's point of view on him who has seen him play on a regular basis.

It's tough one, but not a deal you would discount - especially if you could do a loan. I wouldn't want to try and negotiate that one...you might have to buy a dozen carpets as well.
Brfcrule1 Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Hi Nicko, is there going to be a 11'o clocker tonight anything inteesting on the horizon sozz everyone have not been on here in a while.
Bobby G Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Some people are deluding themselves after they suddenly began to rate Benni and Roberts especially. These people jump from this side of the fence to the other quicker than a congressman in the States. Yes they are both in form, but the form can be gone anyday and the only other option would be Derbyshire. Is that the frontline that will keep us up? If Roque goes, then another GOOD striker needs to join for sure. Otherwise I am confident between the four of them, they will be able to get enough goals if the supply is good. Cue, enter a quality midfielder or two.

nicko Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Hi Nicko, is there going to be a 11'o clocker tonight anything inteesting on the horizon sozz everyone have not been on here in a while. I will give you a sneak preview of a couple of things...surprised nobody picked up the Sheff U interest in Jason Brown that was in the Mirror today...that one has a chance if Paddy Kenny goes. Got to warn you there is no obvious Rovers news right now or later. I hear it is an under-strength side out tonight. Hope it doesn't rebound in any way.
Pugg Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 His Bayern form should be taken into account here too. Good point, but I still think it is best to see how he plays under Sam and responds to the new management team before saying he isn't going to score/return to form/is disinterested. The Turks will want money and are hard to deal with. ...you might have to buy a dozen carpets as well. Magic carpets? Do you know how much he is valued at? Would take a chance on him as a solution to our right-sided problems. He is quite versatile too from what I can gather.
thenodrog Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 IMO we don't need another striker, we can cope with Roberts, Benni and Derbyshire. 18m will allow us to strengthen other areas and that is what we need at the moment. 4 striker without any service is not much use to anybody Don't ever give up your day job bucky.

As well as embarrassing early cup exits?
tony gale's mic Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I don't think any manager has a form for exiting to a side 118 places below them in the league. As far as I know no non-League side has knocked out a Premier League side since its conception in 1992. And Blyth aren't even in the Blue Square.

Hope it doesn't rebound in any way.
BuckyRover Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Don't ever give up your day job bucky. I won't; I have recently been given a 16.67% pay rise and a bonus. Roll on the 15th It doesn't really matter about my day job. I think we can all agree that we need the money to strengthen other areas. If Ronaldo was in our team, hadn't played for half a season and was consistently talking about leaving, I would sell him also. "Wot do u no booky? U were rong abowt Ince?" thenodrog has such mis-givings about his own judgement that after the first time he has called something which appears correct, feels the need to remind people at every turn. Here are some other bits of info: Sam with all his years experience managed to allow the team to concede 2 goals to the team with one of the worst away records in England. He brought Derbyshire onto the right wing and played Mokoena (vogel where are you?) and Andrews.
AJW Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 11 changes for tonights game nicko...can we read anything into players NOT involved , apart from the obvious , who may not want to be cup-tied? or maybe the club dont want them to be cup-tied? http://www.rovers.premiumtv.co.uk/page/New...1508990,00.html
JAL Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Nicko, strong rumour that big Sam wants Nolan of Bolton but doesnt think he'll have the money to buy him any truth in it.
