RevidgeBlue Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 If he's so good, why, quite a while ago, has he faded from the squad of a team, struggling near the bottom of the league? Not ready for the Prem I suspect. We don't need those kind of players at the moment. Who would you suggest then den? I would say Johnson is a big improvement on every one of our central midfielders bar Dunn (and hypothetically a fully fit Reid) at the moment.

Not ready for the Prem I suspect. We don't need those kind of players at the moment. I think he's had one or two injury niggles which is a worry. The Ci'eh fans love him though and he's very highly rated by some good judges. I'd quite like to see us plunder the Eastlands Accademy and bring him in with Sturridge.

Experience is what we need Rev, not, - probably, - a very expensive youngster. - in my opinion, of course.
Blue blood Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Depending on price a promising midfielder who is not injury prone and has a lot of talent which rovers can develop is just what we need. Bentley wasn't all that when he came to rovers, promising and potential were the best words to discribe him, and it could be a similar case with this lad from City.

Bentley took a while to develop though before he actually put in quality performances. We need players, if possible, who can come in and make an immediate impact.

Not ready for the Prem I suspect. We don't need those kind of players at the moment. Because the Man City owners want to see superstars in the side, and partly because Ireland has been one of the league's best players this season. Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs and Everton were all linked with him at various points during 2008, he must have something in him, plus he's still young and would be a good young hungry player with a good engine to put in the midfield. Not to mention the potential profit we could make on him. If he's going for under £4 million, I'd gladly snap him up.

In fact if the younger ones are doing the business now then they'll be out of our budget.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Johnson's got a mystery complaint, allegedly. The Doctors have looked him over and given him a clean bill of health, he's complaining of constant pain ( in his hips I think). Shame really, he'd be a good shout normally but it's a gamble we can't take. He could do a Grella.

He started off well, got injuries and has done very little since. Depending on price a promising midfielder who is not injury prone and has a lot of talent which rovers can develop is just what we need. Bentley wasn't all that when he came to rovers, promising and potential were the best words to discribe him, and it could be a similar case with this lad from City. It's what every club needs, not just rovers. If City were giving Johnson away cheaply then I would be there wanting him in. That's my point though, - with little cash, Johnson isn't going to happen.
EwoodGlory Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Nicko, any chance your mate could be persuaded to swap Eagles for Andrews
braddock Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Nicko, any chance your mate could be persuaded to swap Eagles for Andrews what's the point?
1864roverite Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 One half decent player )Eagles) for a crap one (Andrews), I think that is he point he is making
Backroom Tom Posted January 6, 2009 Backroom Posted January 6, 2009 Nicko any chance Bentley will be available for a knock down price you think? We could do worse
philipl Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Nicko any chance Bentley will be available for a knock down price you think? We could do worse They have been quoted in one paper as wanting £19m for him.
rebelmswar Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 One half decent player )Eagles) for a crap one (Andrews), I think that is he point he is making Sir Alex is a ba$%rd but not a stupid ba$%rd.
tony gale's mic Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Garbage. Johnson wasn't playing much, well before the current owners took over. He started off well, got injuries and has done very little since. http://www.soccerbase.com/players_details.sd?playerid=45035 That's funny, because that would seem to suggest he played regularly in the first half of the season (while City were around the top 5), got injured for 3 months then featured regularly until the end of the season.
Backroom Tom Posted January 6, 2009 Backroom Posted January 6, 2009 They have been quoted in one paper as wanting £19m for him. I think more like £1.9 is more his current worth
Stuart Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Sir Alex is a ba$%rd but not a stupid ba$%rd. I'm fairly sure Burnley bought Eagles outright. So nothing to with Ferguson.
Fylde Coast Fan Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 I'm fairly sure Burnley bought Eagles outright. So nothing to with Ferguson. I think what he means is that Fergie wouldn't have sold a world-beater to a Championship club for peanuts.
pick32 Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 I was speaking to a burnley fan who didnt rate eagles, he said all the kids like him because he runs with the ball an is exciting but his defending is realy bad an he often loses the ball around his own box.
Mr Creosote Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 One half decent player )Eagles) for a crap one (Andrews), I think that is he point he is making Bloody hell. Has Andrews spilt your pint or maybe looked at your mrs?
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Nicko, if I recall Sam came out and said he was expecting to bring in some names pretty quickly and early into the transfer window, I was just wondering is Sam perhaps holding back because of the Roque situation? Could Sam have come out with these comments thinking a bid for Roque was imminent? Obviously if Roque is sold and Sam has been guaranteed a large slice of any money then that may have an impact on the number of players he can bring in or the quality of those players.
