gazsimm Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Nicko is it true Denilson is on trial at Bolton, not the arsenal one, the one who cost a lot of money a few years ago??
JAL Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Me thinks our pal Nicko will be drowning his sorrows after a shocking second half display by his much adored Owen Coyle's side! Maybe hes gone off for some capital punishment with his fellow countrymen.
elv2k21 Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Jus heard from a mate in spain that we might be interested in Finnan for 1.5m, spurs are apparently interested in a loan. Heard any rumours on this nicko?
nicko Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 The only news I heard today was that Roque's foreign agent has flown in to try to sort things out. I can only guess this would be about the size of the fee - and how much Roque gets from it if he goes. It seems Man City are reluctant to give Sparky the money for the players he wants. So perhaps it was a wasted trip. There is a rival for Givet - Newcastle United want him too. Mendes and Finnan as mentioned before. Newcastle want Mendes [although it is a good point about the three clubs] and Spurs have tried for Finnan [who can go for £1.5 million]. As for Diouf...not for me. Nothing personal. Simply professional...he is just not worth the cash or the effort.
Russ Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Any word on Michael Johnson's availability from Man City? Any idea who is interested?
Hughesy Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Nicko - any news on Hughes like in the thread? Some say he has gone - Cant see it.
JackDaniel Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 just to throw a few names in, dunno if they have been mentioned and i cant be bothered reading through, they are mainly CM though but; michael johnson from citeh, darren ambrose and andrew surman from southampton, could all provide the creative spark we seem to lack as mr dunn is always injured.
Hughesy Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Just spotted this on the times Blackburn Rovers have expressed an interest in Franco Semioli, a Fiorentina winger who has played three times for Italy
braddock Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Just spotted this on the times Blackburn Rovers have expressed an interest in Franco Semioli, a Fiorentina winger who has played three times for Italy and according to wikipedia he was co-owned by inter until 3 years ago and since he left he got his first caps, meaning even though he left a big club he is still working hard and performing well enough to get in the italy squad. i have no idea at all how he plays but he sounds very interesting. price could be steep though.
alexanders Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I've only seen that he has been linked to WHU.
Guest Kamy100 Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 This morning's lancashire telegraph has guotes from John Williams, says that they have made progressand expect to make an official bid for a player very soon, they speculate that this is for Diouf. Williams also says that Sam has told him that only 'minor tweaking' is needed for this window. That suggests to me that there is likely to be very little transfer activity at rovers this month, barring roque leaving.
Bobby G Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 We dont need major tweaking anyway. If everyone stays, a right winger and possibly a central midfielder will be enough.
Guest Kamy100 Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I agree, although I would say we definately need to sign a central midfielder.
Bobby G Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Ya those two. I wouldnt bother looking for defenders at this moment in time and would rather focus on the two problem areas.
JAL Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I agree, although I would say we definately need to sign a central midfielder. I'm told he would like Nolan of bolton but doesnt think he'll have enough money for him.
Bobby G Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Id take Nolan for sure. He pops around with vital goals and is at the right age.
47er Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 We dont need major tweaking anyway. If everyone stays, a right winger and possibly a central midfielder will be enough. That's how I see it too. better to focus what money we have on the 2 players we most need than to spread it thinly and end up with more "squad players".Hopefully Santa stays and we do have the 10M Sam was (allegedly) promised and that will buy us 2 players of quality (or Dioef and 1 player of even better quality!)
bubblerrovers Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 We dont need major tweaking anyway. If everyone stays, a right winger and possibly a central midfielder will be enough. We're 2nd bottom and our squad players struggled to beat Blyth Spartans, We need more than Tweaking, we can't blame everything on Ince. For me we need at least 3 players Right Back, Right Wing and someone creative as Dunn can't be relied on to be fit, January maybe the wrong time to buy but we have to make some moves.
broadsword Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 "minor tweaking" could well be a smokescreen. How much tweaking goes on depends on whether Roque gets his dream move to Manchester City, riding high in the Premiership :S As mentioned before, Kevin Nolan won't come here, he doesn't like little old Blackburn Rovers.
philipl Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Yes we can blame 99% on Ince. Sensible move at this stage to avoid creating the sort of disquiet there is at Man City where the whole squad apart from the ones agitating for the Manager's head think they are going to be replaced! At the moment, does City look like a dream move for anyone? That's why the money is so daft! Good news that a right winger is on the radar. That is by far our greatest weakness. Fill that position then Bert can go to right back or central depending on who else we get.

Offer enough and he'll come. Preferably no doubt in his case he will look to Bolton to match our offer. Emerton can't cross a ball if somebody stands in front of him granted, but that apart he is not a seriously weak link so why are you wanting to consign one of our stronger players and no doubt higher wage earners to the bench?
Hughesy Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Emerton will do a job at right back, right wing or central midfield and will try harder than anyone else in the squad. He is a valuable asset to us. The main area that we need a player is central midfield (although Grella may well fill that role for us). Following that I would agree its right wing and then maybe another striker. Whilst we have Ooijer, Simpson, Ollson & Zurab as cover for Warnock, Samba & Nelsen, we dont really need another left or central defensive player. As for Nolan - There is no chance that he will come.
Bobby G Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Why not? Cause he " hates " us? I think as a captain of our biggest PL rivals, he has to spice things up whenever he talks! Im sure if Sam asked him, he wouldnt say no.
