Bobby G Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 They have the cheek dont they? To bid so low, and to say as if their first offer had been 12 million pounds. It would be nice for once for BLACKBURN ROVERS to come out and use the media to our side and tell everyone how the offers are nothing like being publicized! Boro did it, why cant we?

modes98 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Its looking likely that City are trying to unsettle the player in order to get Roque to put in a transfer request or declare himself so unhappy that they can buy him considerably cheaper. I would hope that Roque would lose any claim to a % of the transfer fee should he request a transfer.
ScottishRover Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 To be fair, thats business isnt it. Same in most business, come in with a low offer, chance your luck. See what happens, if need be then increase your offer. I think it wont be long until they are offering what we are wanting, i just hope we dont crumble and accept a lower bid
Fraserkirky Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Honestly hand on heart does anyone feel we are overvaluing Roque? Personally i think £18-20 million a fair price. He scored over 20 goals last season, signed a new four year contract not that long ago and we aren't in a position where we have to sell him. When you look at how much City paid for Jo (£19 million?), our valuation is perfectly reasonable. Exactly! Personally think he is worth 15million. Its not our fault Citeh are loaded and having been paying ridiculous transfer fee's. Of course we want as much as possible which sounds like 18million. We should offer him to city for 18million, simple yes or no! If they say no tell them to come back in summer and talk as Rocky is not for sale the rest of this window. Disappointed about Diouf TBH think he would be perfect for us on the right wing and at a resonable price. Don't understand the Givet deal, Is he a direct replacement for Ooijer? We need a Center midfielder and a Right winger immediatly. Possibly a right back as well. Those positions should be our priorities.
DeadlyDirk Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I can't help but think that part of the reason for the low bids for the likes of Roque along with Bellamy and Parker is because the people with power at City are not sure whether or not to back Hughes. Maybe they are trying to bide some time with low bids and not rush into anything. Although they say Hughes as their support I think its fair to say that in a results business then unless things pick up he doesn't have long left. The new manager might not want the star names of Scott Parker and Craig Bellamy, perhaps the City owners who want to challenge for top honours think they shouldn't be buying players from relegation battlers. Just a thought, I still think Hughes is the most likely transfer deal to happen next at City.
AJW Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 The choice is... Say no to Man City's low offer and gamble on staying up with Roque and then sell him for what you want - £20 million or even less if you feel like it - at the end of the season. Say yes to Man City's low offer. If the offer is as low as I hear then there is no way he should or could be sold. The daft thing is that Man City know this. So why behave like this. Who do they think they are? Spurs? cant beleive this is the same man city that shelled out 19m on that jackass JO and £11 on chelseas's reserve left back
Shabani Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 This is exactly how Hughes' works when it comes to transfers Remember Savage? Hughes tapped him up with a derisory bid, unsettled him with this bid and in a few weeks time we had him here
Bobby G Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Its going to be interesting. Hughes might be out of a job in a couple of days, and so with it would die Man City's interest, I am pretty sure. Id be happy, cause then Roque would be forced to put his head on straight.
Eddie Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 For 3ish million? It was hardly derisory. There was certainly a bit of tapping up, but in the end we paid a fee that Birmingham found to be acceptable.
HemelRover Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 cant beleive this is the same man city that shelled out 19m on that jackass JO and £11 on chelseas's reserve left back The difference between Rovers and Chelsea or CSKA Moscow is that the latter 2 teams are wealthy powerful teams and although City have parity cash wise we dont. They can bully us financially and Hughes knows that.

nicknj72 Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Hi. Villa fan in peace. I don't want to ask Nicko any Villa questions, only to praise him and you guys on a great forum !! I really hope BRFC stick to their guns re Santa Cruz and do not allow City to get him for a ridiculous amount! Liverpool played their pursuit of Barry all through the media last summer, which ###### us off completely. I see City trying to do the same. Hopefully, if he stays, RSC can put some good performances together (apart from when you play us ) I'm confident you have a great manager and he will certainly keep you up - hope so anyhow, i always like going to Ewood, even though it hasn't been a lucky ground for us. Hope you didn't mind me posting! Best of luck ! Nick
Paulo Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I know for a fact we are looking at Dennis Rommendahl, not sure why though after his last performance in England. But then again, look at Riera.
Wild Irish Rover Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Rovers...no hard feelings just gets me upset when we are refered to as Blackburn. Its Blackburn Rovers, Rovers or The Rovers. Sorry this is not related to Nickos thread is it...but the Rovers police are allowed exceptions surely? I'm with you 100% on this one AllRover - the only people who refer to our club as just 'Blackburn' tend to be non-supporters or people who don't love the Rovers. Rovers 100% for me.

Pugg Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Hope you didn't mind me posting! Not at all. It was Rovers related
EwoodGlory Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I know for a fact we are looking at Dennis Rommendahl, not sure why though after his last performance in England. But then again, look at Riera. He didn't play at the weekend, I wonder if he is the one Not seen him play since he went to Ajax, Wiki says 9 goals in 30 games? I wonder if he still has that blistering pace.
joey_big_nose Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 He didn't play at the weekend, I wonder if he is the one Not seen him play since he went to Ajax, Wiki says 9 goals in 30 games? I wonder if he still has that blistering pace. Gets a good writeup on Wikipedia. Won Danish footballer of the year in 2007. He is 30 now, so I doubt he is quite as fast as he was. However his profile - good international with shedloads of experience, including of the prem - does fit the "Sam signing" template.
Mattyblue Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 What a load of crap Not crap at all. 'Rovers' represents everything we stand for, are traditions, history, a sense of belonging with fellow Rovers. 'Blackburn', well it's just a town
Mozzer Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I'm with you 100% on this one AllRover - the only people who refer to our club as just 'Blackburn' tend to be non-supporters or people who don't love the Rovers. Rovers 100% for me. i suppose i aint a true rovers then eh i guess me just refering to rovers as blackburn proves this 100%-despite the money and time i spend to watch them..
RibbleValleyRover Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 If he still has that searing pace then it could be worth taking a look.
nicko Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I would be shocked about Rommedahl. When he was at Charlton he was a bit of a Frankie. Not Sam's type...and not a position that needs strengthening right now.
