EwoodGlory Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 The plan is to buy both, so it won't make any difference with the Rocky stuff.

tcj_jones Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Didn't West Ham pay £8 million for Bellamy only a season or two ago? Why would they sell for £10m now?
Hughesy Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Because 2 years ago they had money, now they are knee deep in the brown sticky stuff.
USA Rover Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Nicko, Is there any chance the Rovers look at Lita? His contract is up at the end of the year so we could get him on the cheap. He has pace which this team really lacks.
BRFC1995 Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 would'nt miss his woefull finishing though.............set are sights way higher than lita
Mr. E Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 1/3rd of the window gone = 0/4 of the players, at minimum, we need. If City hold out for Cruz until the very end and leave us with no time to make transfers, can we not sue them for something?
Backroom Tom Posted January 10, 2009 Backroom Posted January 10, 2009 The answer is simple Mr E there is no need to sue as we don't need to sell till summer. No clause till summer = Rovers hold all the aces
dave birch Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 This will be a test of how badly City want Roque, and how badly he wants a "pay for play" (as reproted earlier) deal. My thoughts? Get as much as possible as soon as possible.
Majiball Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Would anyone go to Newcastle any reason than money? Mmm I can think of one other reason to go. So Nicko, Prepared to give us any more on the RB, country etc? If not, is he of the calibre that we need or is he another no-body.
alexanders Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Nicko: Q1: Heard anything about interest in Steven Defour at Ewood Park? Steven Defour ready to quit Standard Liege Q2: Can you shed a light about Givet's situation? Some reports are saying that he is due to come over on Monday to complete the loan move and others are saying that Newcastle will snap him in front of us by offering him a permanent deal? Q3: Any clue how the Ghanian Bissue is doing ?
Ewood and I Would Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I think Big Sam may have got your message. He has come out and stated City's bid at £12m after initial rumours (I take it from City) of an £18m bid. It would appear Sparky adds 50% to the truth. I presume including all the add on's City would pay but that is not the offer to Rovers is it? If stripped back it is £12m then BFS is playing Sparky at his game. No he didn't, he said it was "well in excess of £12m", and only one paper I saw quoted the original figure at £18m; the rest went with around £15m-£16m. Source: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/ja...transfer-window However I do like the Sturridge ploy, see how much Sparky wants Santa now
nicko Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 BELLAMY - the Man City bid is real and the figures as accurate as I can manage...remember there are other clubs after him so City HAVE to be sensible on this one...unlike Roque where they are the only bidders at the level they came in at. DELPH - Fulham want him, but only if they get a buyer for Bullard. LITA - wants to see out season and be a free agent...all the best. DEFOUR - Standard Liege want £18 million, smashing little player but not THAT good. GIVET - news is good...due in shortly. RIGHT BACK TARGET - naming him tomorrow...hopefully worth the wait.
Bobby G Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 nicko any truth or solid backing in Sam's words that he wants Roque to see out the season, or more a case of pushing up the price? Do you know if Rovers are looking to sell him or they would rather City went away soon?
nicko Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Givet looking good all right. http://www.lequipe.com/Football/breves2009...burn-lundi.html
captainhaircut Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 DELPH - Fulham want him, but only if they get a buyer for Bullard. Have you heard anything on Bullard? I heard there was interest from Spurs and Newcastle but he'd be a great signing for us. Sam and his mysterious techniques could probably extend his career by a few years.
Bobby G Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 L'Equipe saying we will get him on Monday to finalize the deal. Where will he fit in if Warnock stays? Interesting. Also says we will pass on MBami who will go to Newcastle, if my rusty French is anything to go by.

Do you know if Rovers are looking to sell him or they would rather City went away soon? Sam is bound to want Roque to stay. He isn't just saying it, he means it. If Man City ever get round to offering a proper bid then it's worth discussing. Until then it's plain annoying. Have you heard anything on Bullard? I heard there was interest from Spurs and Newcastle but he'd be a great signing for us. Sam and his mysterious techniques could probably extend his career by a few years. Fulham want £5 million, Bullard wants £65,000-a-week. All I hear there is a lot of sharp intakes of breath. L'Equipe saying we will get him on Monday to finalize the deal. Where will he fit in if Warnock stays? Interesting. Also says we will pass on MBami who will go to Newcastle, if my rusty French is anything to go by. It's competition and cover for Warnock and Nelsen...good idea if you ask me. Olsson is not ready for this level yet. M'Bami is a bit too small for the Premier. He has been offered around a lot and nobody took an interest.

All I hear there is a lot of sharp intakes of breath. Lol. I can understand that. The Givet link states that us, and Newcastle again (are they after every player in the world?), are following Modeste M'Bami. Anything on this? He's a bit of a monster in midfield. Would be a good foil for Dunn if we could get him. EDIT: Oops. just seen that be answered. Ignore.
Bobby G Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 We already have enough small central midfielders.

Nicko could you check my last post in the Sparky not a great manager thread, link to a meeting in Italy, possible replacement for MH.
nicko Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Nicko could you check my last post in the Sparky not a great manager thread, link to a meeting in Italy, possible replacement for MH. Interesting. Mancini has been living in London and been trying hard to get a job. He met Rovers and was overlooked, he tried for Sunderland, he tried for Fulham and QPR. The Inde report is a bit vague - and if I was Sparky I would not be too worried about this one. The fact is they are giving him money for bids to sign players he wants...even if some of those bids are short of what is needed. Now if it had been Mourinho and a guy with Arab robes on...

We'll ignore the smoke then and wait till the flames to appear on the horizon. A bad result at Pompey, it could be a bomfire we're looking at.
my_name_is_Earl Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 So whats the exact deal with Givet? Have we got him on loan, is it definite? Future transfer? EDIT: completely unrelated but can someone PM me with any info on how to get game updates on your phone from the official SMS club service?
nicko Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 So whats the exact deal with Givet? Have we got him on loan, is it definite? Future transfer? Loan with a view...and no trial by the sounds of it.
